I'm afraid I'll need time to find a place where I can reproduce this.

As converting to fixed is listed as a workaround, I'm changing the
priority to low per priority definitions.

[Bug 804593] Re: Many Safely remove icons on virtualized XPs

2011-07-22 Thread Horacio
Before upgrading:
- qemu-kvm: 0.14.0+noroms-0ubuntu4 - Removing VGA device crashes the guest

After upgrading, I'm running with:
- qemu-kvm:0.14.0+noroms-0ubuntu4.1
- qemu-common: 0.14.0+noroms-0ubuntu4.1
- libvirt-bin: 0.8.8-1ubuntu6.2
- libvirt0:0.8.8-1ubuntu6.2

Now the guest doesn't crashes any more.

But if the user selects 'Safely remove' on the 'Red Hat VirtIO Ethernet
Adapter', the virtual machine loses network connection... This could be
a mayor problem, since they are accessed using RDP by non-technical
users. I don't know if this is a bug... But can cause problems if the
user selects this option accidentally. Should I report this as another
bug?

[Bug 803554] Re: upgrading to multipath 0.4.9 presents incompatible config file changes

2011-07-22 Thread Peter Petrakis
Experimenting shows that we can have the older config values side by side
with the new ones. e.g.

...
  prio_callout /sbin/mpath_prio_alua /dev/%n
  prio alua
...

multipath doesn't have a rigid config file format, it seems to slurp symbols
and then seek the key/value pair out on demand. In doing this, we can safely
downgrade as well.

[Bug 814222] Re: kvm cannot use vhd files over 127GB

2011-07-22 Thread Matthew Mattoon
Are the priority definitions documented somewhere?

I personally think you were right on when you had the priority at
medium.

Primarily because of the fact that no error is generated. It can't just
silently fail. If it generated an error (so that people knew they
needed to look for a work around) then I would agree that fixing the bug
itself would be a low priority, as the work around is simple for anyone
to implement.

[Bug 814577] Re: The following packages have unmet dependencies

2011-07-22 Thread Scott Kitterman
This is not a package bug, but a support question.

It looks like you have a mix of packages from maverick and maverick-
updates. You need to make sure your package cache is updated (sudo apt-
get update on a command line) and try again.

[Bug 814436] Re: package postfix 2.8.2-1ubuntu2.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-07-22 Thread Daniel Manrique
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Looking at your dpkg installation log I see this postfix error:

Running newaliases
postconf: warning: valid_hostname: invalid character 40(decimal): (none)
postconf: fatal: unable to use my own hostname

This means that one of postfix's config files contains an error, which
is causing it to stop the package installation process. As this
constitutes a problem with your local configuration and not an error in
postfix, I need to close this bug as invalid.

However, in order for you to solve your problem, I can suggest two
things:

1) Please carefully review your postfix configuration, the files in
/etc/postfix/ and possibly /etc/aliases, for any errors.
2) Review the postfix documentation if you have any doubts:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Postfix
3) If you're still unable to configure postfix so it works correctly, you can
ask for help by posting a question here:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postfix

Thanks for your report!

[Bug 814222] Re: kvm cannot use vhd files over 127GB

This is a dynamically expanding VHD file created using the reproduction
steps above on Windows 7. This one is 120GB and converts correctly.

This has not been formatted or even initialized.

kvm-img info 120g-dynamic.vhd shows the proper geometry.

[Bug 814222] Re: kvm cannot use vhd files over 127GB

2011-07-22 Thread Matthew Mattoon
This is a dynamically expanding VHD file created using the reproduction
steps above on Windows 7. This one is 140GB and silently errors on
conversion.

This has not been formatted or even initialized.

kvm-img info 140g-dynamic.vhd does not show the proper geometry.

[Bug 814222] Re: kvm cannot use vhd files over 127GB

2011-07-22 Thread Matthew Mattoon
I have attached a couple of VHDs that I created with Windows 7. These
should be helpful in your reproduction.

[Bug 814222] Re: kvm cannot use vhd files over 127GB

2011-07-22 Thread Matthew Mattoon
Also looking at your notes it looks like that previous patch which was
committed only affected the creation. So perhaps the same sort of check
can be incorporated into the conversion process as well, so that you
don't have the silent error.

[Bug 814819] [NEW] Update to antlr3 version 3.2

2011-07-22 Thread Andrew Ross
Public bug reported:

The Ubuntu version of antlr3 is still 3.0 rather than 3.2 as in Debian.
It should be possible to build version 3.2 without maven therefore
avoiding needing to pull maven-debian-helper and dependencies into main
for now.

** Affects: antlr3 (Ubuntu)

Tested 0.12.3+noroms-0ubuntu9.14 on Lucid amd64 with all available
updates. Save speed is now approx 3 seconds for a 256Mb guest. Tested
virsh with start, stop, save, restore, suspend, resume, shutdown,
destroy. Tested guest with smp, virtio disk, virtio net, vnc display.
Everything worked as expected.

If there's more I can do, let me know. Thanks!

I'm in the process of creating the proposal, will be out within moments.
I'm going forward with my plan to get rid of the obsolete manpages.

@Serge, Just make changes to my changelog (if needed). Don't touch the
debian/rules file because as it stands right now EVERYTHING (and I mean
everything) WORKS. Shared Folders, host/guest copy-and-paste, and auto-
screen resize all work (for once). If someone opens a bug (the
operative word being IF), we'll deal with it.
