[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 885086] Re: XDG "Desktop" item not translated on Live CD

I'm unsubscribing the sponsors team as there seems to be an active
discussion regarding the merge proposal and that should be resolved
before anything is uploaded.

Bug description:
  When I switch the language on my Oneiric Live CD, other XDG
  directories are translated except the "Desktop" item. When I have a
  look inside ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs, the string is untranslated
  (other strings in the file are translated all right). If I run xdg-
  user-dirs-update, ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs is updated to the correct
  translation. So I suppose that the default Live CD user is created by
  some not-localized hackish solution.

  If this seems not so important, since installed systems have the
  "Desktop" directory translated all right (at least I hope so, because
  my system has), it certainly affects all Ubuntu localized Live-CDs and
  makes them fail the basic "translated or not surface check".

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 1882531] Re: desktop context not localized

2020-09-01 Thread Brian Murray
Hello frank, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-flashback into focal-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
flashback/3.36.4-0ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

  The variable GETTEXT_PACKAGE is set to "libgweather-3.0" when building
  libgweather, which makes the libgweather-common binary look for
  translations in files named "libgweather-3.0.mo". The template name in
  Rosetta (LP) is "libgweather", so the files provided by the language
  packs are named "libgweather.mo". This mismatch results in the
  messages describing the weather type always be displayed in English.

  The uploaded package works around the issue by setting GETTEXT_PACKAGE
  to "libgweather".

  In bionic the template name in Rosetta has been changed to
  "libgweather-3.0", and thus the workaround will be reversed.

  [Test Case]

   * Install French language support

   * Start gnome-weather with:
     LANGUAGE=fr gnome-weather
     and find that the description of the weather type is displayed in
     English.

   * Install these packages from -proposed:
     - gir1.2-gweather-3.0
     - libgweather-3-6
     - libgweather-common

   * Start gnome-weather with:
     LANGUAGE=fr gnome-weather
     and find that the description of the weather type is now displayed
     in French.

  [Regression Potential]

  None.

  [Original description]

  In Gnome Weather, part of it is not translated in french : cloudy,
  rain showers, etc. Should be : nuageux, pluie fine, etc.

  I guess it's a missing french localization. Fedora does not have that
  problem. In Gnome-Software, they have a section for languages, under
  the extensions section.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 1491787] Re: Gnome's Activities Overview search is always in English, regardless of the system language

2017-12-14 Thread Brian Murray
Hello sojusnik, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-control-center into artful-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/gnome-control-center/1:3.26.2-0ubuntu0.2 in a few hours, and then in
the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-artful to verification-done-artful. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-artful. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in

  [ Description ]

  In GNOME's activities overview, search entries from gnome-control-
  center aren't translated.

  [ Fix ]

  setlocale() wasn't being called until after the model that supplies
  search results was constructed. We fix the initialisation code to run
  slightly later, after setlocale() has been called.

  [ QA ]

  1. Open a session in a non-English locale which has gnome-control-center
translations (French works).
  2. Hit super and type an "a"
  3. There should be some results from "Settings". They should be in French (or
whatever language you're using).

  [ Regression potential ]

  If we misunderstood when the initialisation phases in GtkApplication
  ran then there could be a race condition. You'd see that manifesting
  as either a crash in the search provider or no results being returned.
  Make sure there aren't crahes reported in errors.u.c.

  [ Original description ]

  Hey,

  I'm referring to this issue on AskUbuntu:
  http://askubuntu.com/questions/600656/change-language-of-the-gnome-
  shell-overview

  On my Ubuntu Gnome 15.04 system all entries from the gnome-control-
  center are shown in English in the Gnome-Shell overview (see
  screenshot in the above mentioned link), even though my system
  language is German. The entries in the gnome-control-center itself are
  however in German.

  Is this due to a bug or missing translations?

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 1353575] Re: Have 14.04 LTS HWE upgrade messages translatable well in time before they are needed

Title:
  Have 14.04 LTS HWE upgrade messages translatable well in time before
  they are needed

Status in Ubuntu Translations:
  New
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  In the case of 12.04 LTS the HWE upgrade messages became available
  only last week, meaning that no-one is getting the messages in their
  own non-English languages at the moment. Even if the translations
  would now be done in Launchpad, LTS langpack updates are often quite
  rare.

  For 14.04 LTS, it'd be great to add the same update-manager messages
  already now for the next SRU upload (something that takes its own time
  as well), so that they'd become available for translation as soon as
  possible at: https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+source
  /update-manager Then the messages could be translated, and included in
  some future 14.04 LTS langpack update well in time before 16.04 LTS
  comes out and they are actually shown to the users.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 880493] Re: Synaptic crashes in vfprintf() with Norwegian locale

2014-04-03 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Stian, or anyone else affected,

Accepted synaptic into precise-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/synaptic/0.75.9ubuntu1.1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at

  1. Open Language Support
  2. Install Norwegian Bokmål if not installed already, then drag Norsk,
bokmål (Norge) to the top of the list.
  3. Apply system-wide (I don't know if this is necessary)
  4. Log out and log in again
  5. Open Synaptic pakkebehandler, type in password as usual
  6. Shortly after its window appears, it will crash

  == Impact ==
  Makes the package unusable for Norwegian users on Precise LTS
  Attaching screenshot (ubuntu 11.10, synaptic 0.75.2ubuntu8)

  == Development Fix ==
  Fix merged into lp:synaptic at revision 2126. Only three strings in po/nb.po
are changed.

  == Regression Potential ==
  I've verified that the singatures of the translated strings match the
signatures of the original English one.

Bug description:
  The release upgrader tool shows a lot of strings untranslated since it
  was split out from update-manager.

  [Test Case]
  1) If you do not use a language other than English install French
  2) In a terminal run: sudo LANG=fr_FR.utf-8 python3
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/DistUpgrade/dist-upgrade.py --partial
--frontend=DistUpgradeViewGtk3 --datadir=/usr/share/ubuntu-release-upgrader/
  3) Observe that Reading cache is untranslated
  4) In the terminal press Ctrl-C to stop the partial upgrade

  With the version of the package from quantal-proposed Reading cache
  will be translated.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 1072828] Re: [REGRESSION] release upgrader tool became untranslated

2013-01-02 Thread Brian Murray
Using the current working directory + mo is necessary for release
upgrades as ubuntu-release-upgrader is downloaded as dist-upgrader to
your /tmp/ folder and includes translations for the new version of it.

2012-10-31 Thread Brian Murray
Well there was this change that should have fixed this, without knowing
the specific version you were running it is hard to know whether or not
it was fixed.

ubuntu-release-upgrader (1:0.188) quantal; urgency=low

  * ensure that translations are loaded (LP: #1058102)
  * update translations from Launchpad

 -- Brian Murray br...@ubuntu.com  Tue, 09 Oct 2012 09:07:12 -0700

I'll try and test this after UDS though.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 999155] Re: Onboard crashes due to mixup in Catalan Translation

2012-07-26 Thread Brian Murray
Hello marmuta, or anyone else affected,

Accepted onboard into precise-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/onboard/0.97.0-0ubuntu4 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing
will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 784825] Re: Warnings about wrong hostnames untranslated in the installer

2012-02-07 Thread Brian Murray
Still says TODO:

def check_hostname(hostname):
Returns a newline separated string of reasons why the hostname is
invalid.
# TODO: i18n
e = []
# Ahem. We can cheat here by inserting newlines where needed. Hopefully
# by the time we translate this, GTK+ will have decent layout management.
for result in validation.check_hostname(utf8(hostname)):
if result == validation.HOSTNAME_LENGTH:
e.append(Must be between 1 and 63 characters long.)
elif result == validation.HOSTNAME_BADCHAR:
e.append(May only contain letters, digits,\nhyphens, and dots.)
elif result == validation.HOSTNAME_BADHYPHEN:
e.append(May not start or end with a hyphen.)
elif result == validation.HOSTNAME_BADDOTS:
e.append('May not start or end with a dot,\n'
 'or contain the sequence ...')
return \n.join(e)

Bug description:
  I tried to assign this to package ubuntu-translations, but launchpad
  did not accept that, going with ubiquity instead.

  I found 3 instances of English being used in the Swedish translation
  during installation of Kubuntu. They are all related to the
  installation, so I report them in 1 bug, hope that is ok.

  1) Keep default keyboard layout - Entire dialog in English (see
translation1.png)
  2) First presentation slide of installation - First bullet says Thank you
for choosing Kubuntu 11.10. (see translation2.png)
  3) Progress bar during installation - When retrieving files, it says
Retrieving file X of Y Z% (see translation3.png)

  Finally there is a place which has been translated, which I belive should not
have been
  4) Handle contacts, meetings and email slide during installation - In the
last bullet, Kaddressbook has been translated to Kadressbok. This is
inconsistent with e.g. bullet 3 Koranizer (see translation4.png)
