Title:
[webapp-container] needs to show more infos by default

Status in Ubuntu UX bugs:
  New
Status in Web Browser App:
  Triaged

Bug description:
In my opinion the webapp-container needs show the progression and the
addressbar. Showing a non-editable addressbar will help the users to know in
which url they are and will keep them safe.
Ex : a user can click on a phishing url from an email that will bring him to
a fake facebook/twitter/etc.. login page, so without showing the url and its
status(encrypted or not - bug 1236364) this can be a security issue, and it's
boring to wait for something that you don't know its progression.

i think this should be marked as "Critical" and should be fixed ASAP.

Status in Web Browser App:

  Steps to reproduce:
  * Open cdimage.ubuntu.com
  * Try to open ubuntu-touch. You may zoom in as close as you want. Try
different scrolling positions.

  Expected outcome:
  * ubuntu-touch opens

  Actual outcome
  * In most cases (> 50%), ubuntu-touch-preview opens. This seems to be
dependent of the scrolling position. Scrolling further to the right increases
the chance. If you found a position that opens the wrong link, it happens on
100% of tries. Some other links open links that are below, sometimes even two
lines away (up or down).

Double tapping the page allows you to highlight links in red by
holding them afterwards (no idea what that is good for). The red
highlighting is always correct, but nonetheless wrong links get opened
(can be seen by the grey overlay).

Also happens on Apache-generated directory listings on other sites.

Currently tab/toolbar are open by default when the app is first
launched, not when it is resumed after being suspended.

Perhaps the above behavior can be accomplished by reacting to changes
  in Application.active.

When any online music is opened in the browser from the music lens, the music
plays. But when a full swipe to the homescreen is done, or another app is
brought to the foreground with the right swipe, the music abruptly stops. on
bringing the browser app to the foreground, the music continues to play from
where it stopped. Reproduced on soundcloud only. I dont think any other music
site works in touch right now.
On the earlier build of Trusty and saucy, i couldnt reproduce this issue.
Atleast a full swipe in those builds did not stop the music.

[Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1324279] Re: can't activate links in google

2014-05-28 Thread Bill Filler
sorry, not a bug. You have to click on the blue text and not the link
(which is confusing). Maybe some more immediate feedback when pressing
on a link would help in case it takes a while to load the page

It was caught by chance by the autopilot tests (see

  Steps to reproduce:

   1) Launch `ubuntu-browser http://ubuntu.com`
   2) While the page is loading, and before the URL has been rewritten to
"http://www.ubuntu.com";, click inside the address bar, click the clear button,
and start typing another URL of your choice

Expected result: when the browser is notified that the URL has been
rewritten, the contents of the address bar remain unchanged because
the user has edited / is editing them.

Current result: when the browser is notified that the URL has been
rewritten, the contents of the address bar are replaced with the
rewritten URL, thus overriding what the user entered.

Bug description:
This is not a regression (I'm only just now filing this).

If I open the webbrowser-app and press 'Activity' from the bottom
toolbar, it can take several esconds (5-10) for the activity tab to
display. During that time, no feedback that something is happening is
given to the user. Once it does, scrolling up and down is painfully
slow. Left to right scrolling with a category (This year, This month,
etc) is acceptable. The performance of Activity seems to be aggravated
by the number of items in the activity. Eg, if I remove ~/.cache
/webbrowser-app and ~.local/share/webbrowser-app, then performance is
  improved.

Accessing bookmarks is also very slow-- you have to go through
Activity to access them, and then clicking the Bookmarks tab takes
several seconds to display. Vertical scrolling seems better in
Bookmarks than in Activity and is usable with the number of bookmarks
I have, but the performance is somewhat sluggish and could be
  improved.

This is on mako on latest promoted trusted image (58).

[Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1228415] Re: Cannot play videos in Youtube (mobile version)

2014-05-28 Thread Bill Filler
We need to tackle this is multiple phases:
1) get fullscreen youtube video playback working on the device using software
rendering
2) hook up to media-hub to get hw decoding

For 1), we need support for fullscreen windows on the device

Title:
Promote the UbuntuWebView as an official API

Status in Ubuntu UI Toolkit:
  Confirmed
Status in Web Browser App:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Currently our UbuntuWebview implementations are in
Ubuntu.Components.Extras.Browser. These are not documented on d.u.c.

This should move to a new namespace (i.e. Ubuntu.Browser or Ubuntu.Web
for example) and can maintain the UbuntuWebView name. However I would
prefer not putting Ubuntu in the object name as its both redundant
with the namespace and not conducive to reuse by others. Note we
should not use simply WebView as that will collide with the webkit
  version.

We need to determine if any apps currently use this api even though it
was not promoted as an official part of the toolkit. If so we may need
to maintain the old naming for some time in parallel if possible.

Refer to kept-update info on the front page of
https://launchpad.net/~canonical-qt5-edgers/+archive/qt5-beta2 regarding
where/how to get Qt 5.3. Note that it's not necessarily that PPA itself.
