these files and attack shared memory of other applications. Therefore,

Bug description:
we are showing the selection handle (in addition to the cursor)
whenever entering a text field that already has text in it. For
example, if you are replying to a Gmail message, you have an annoying
blue selection handle blinking where you are trying to type and you
can't turn it off. Or on a form, focusing on a field to append text
will also show the selection handle. Or a multi line text area, adding
a new line and typing at the beginning.

Tested Chrome on Android and it behaves differently, and think we should do
similar:
   1. Show the selection handle initially, but have it disappear when you press
any key (space, character, etc.)
   2. Tapping anywhere in the field will cause handle to be shown again
   3. Also, can we put the selection handle on the bottom of the cursor instead
of the top? This is the behavior on Chrome for Android and the rest of our
non-html platform in Ubuntu touch.

[Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1601887] Re: Camera image is rotated by 90° on M10 because Qt says the screen's native orientation is portrait

2016-07-21 Thread Pat McGowan
Not sure if its a directly related issue but the E5 image is upside
down, which also used to work correctly. Obviously something regressed.
If that doesn't sound related I can open a new bug.

With older Qt versions, we use private APIs (QQmlValueType and
friends) for exposing value types. However, with the built-in gadget
support in Qt5.5, OxideQSslCertificate::issuer() is no longer working
  correctly.

  - When OxideQSecurityStatus::certificate() returns a null QVariant, the value
gets converted to null in Qml. When it returns a QVariant containing
OxideQSslCertificate, this gets correctly converted to a value type in Qml.
  - The QVariant returned from OxideQSslCertificate::issuer() gets converted to
an object in Qml (verified with typeof), and calling toString() on the object
gives "QVariant(QVariant): undefined".

  camera (http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/qtubuntu-
  camera/trunk/view/head:/src/aalcameraserviceplugin.cpp#L43).

Chromium does depend on the ability to enumerate devices, and there's
a public facing API for this as well (https://developer.mozilla.org
  /en-US/docs/Web/API/MediaDevices).

The system is killing uNav a few times without reason and in random

Steps for reproduce (not works always):
  - Open uNav.
  - Center position.
  - uNav is killed (sometimes).

From my test "I think" is when the app asks for a geolocation
position, then the geolocation is not available and kills the
  application.

  3. Drive.
  4. When you'll be into a WIFI area as a town or city, I'm thinking the WIFI
will try to search WIFIs and then the GPS will stop, the GPS apps will not
receive more new positions from the GPS.

Extra info1: If you had GPS Navigation & Sensor running, both of them
will not receive new GPS positions from the device. If you restart for
example GPS Navigation, GPS Navigation will receive new positions, but
Sensor Status not, until you restart it too.

Extra info2: When the GPS stops the icon in the status disappears, but
it you kill and relaunch the app, the icon will appear again.

Since webapps are focused on only a single website, it seems that they

And you'll have the HERE bits on your phone. Now go through the
wizard, click on the terms and conditions link on the location
screen to see the Nokia terms. Your screen will seem frozen and
  unity8 will crash.

This is what we see in the logs:

  [0402/192155:WARNING:oxide_qt_browser_startup.cc(161)] Unrecognized Qt
platform: mirserver
  [0402/192155:ERROR:gl_implementation_osmesa.cc(22)] Failed to load

And it's because oxide expects the platform to start with ubuntu but
unity8 translates ubuntumirclient to mirserver which oxide does
not expect. So it falls back to non-GLES2 mode and can't find
  libosmesa.so, crashing.

It's not clear to me *why* unity8 is doing that. But until we sort
that out, oxide can simply support mirserver too.

Bug description:
Fullscreen support just landed in webbrowser-app (see bug #1308947).

The current implementation assumes websites are well-behaved and provide a
button or any other user-friendly way of exiting fullscreen (video players
usually provide a button for this, see e.g. youtube).
If the website doesn’t provide such a functionality, then the user can end up
trapped in fullscreen mode with no way to get back to a windowed state and
access the chrome. When that happens, the only fix is to close the browser
app, thus closing all open tabs.

The issue can be observed by browsing to
  http://webcodehelpers.com/demo/html5api/html5-fullscreen-api.html and
tapping the 728 Div Fullscreen button.

We need designs for the fullscreen mode, with at the very least a
button or gesture to exit it.

  Result:
Only the latest page is displayed normally, previous ones are all black.

  Expect:
There should be better preview for those in-active pages.

BTW, this may be a regression issue after r137. Looks fine with r137

hook Oxide into Ubuntu platform API for media-hub

Status in the base for Ubuntu mobile products:
  Fix Released
Status in Media Hub:
  Fix Committed
Status in Oxide Webview:
  Fix Released
Status in oxide-qt package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Right now oxide uses software rendering for audio and video via the
chromium content api ffmpeg implementation for libffmpegsumo.so. This
is provided in either oxideqt-codecs (suitable for main) or oxideqt-
codecs-extra (suitable for universe). oxideqt-codecs-extra includes
mp3 and h264 playback. Software rendering is not ideal on the phone,
but in addition to that, webbrowser-app, webapp-container and apps
using Oxide or UbuntuWebView are subject to application lifecycle and
therefore the user experience for things such as grooveshark playlists
and youtube videos is poor because the device will shut off the screen
  or suspend during playback.

The correct way to solve this is for Oxide to use the media-hub in
some manner. This was somewhat easily solved with QtWebKit since it
used gstreamer and it could be made to hook into the media-hub.
However, QtWebKit is dead upstream which is one reason why we are
using Oxide. We should look to see how qtwebengine is handling this
(ie, are they just using the software rendering or are they redoing
the QtWebKit gstreamer work for qtwebengine). Perhaps we could provide
our own libffmpegsumo.so or wrap it in some manner. Perhaps we can
work with upstream to have something that works better on Linux/Ubuntu
in general. Whatever method is chosen should be maintainable in the
face of weekly or biweekly stable updates (low api churn) and 6-8 week
beta updates (potential api churn) to the chromium content api, since
we expect this update frequency in our stable releases for security,
bug and web compatibility fixes over a period of up to 5 years.

Bug description:
With the current tab preview implementation, previews are displayed only for
tabs that have an active webview. Since we currently limit the number of
webviews to 2, that means that other tabs don’t get a preview.
Similarly, when restarting the app after closing it, only the preview for the
current tab is visible in the tabs view, because other webviews haven’t been
instantiated yet.

We need a mechanism to persist previews on disk so that their
availability isn’t tied to the actual webview.

Bug description:
I've not done a proper review on this yet, but there are a few issues
I've noticed just from using the browser:

  - The certificate error UI is displayed for all errors, but it should
only be displayed for main frame document errors
  (CertificateError.isMainFrame !CertificateError.isSubresource). You
can't override other errors anyway, and for subframes and subresources
it is fine to just block the content (this is how Chrome and Firefox
  behave).

  - When accepting an error, the certificate fingerprint seems to be
whitelisted by the browser. This is not safe - what happens if the
user navigates to a genuinely malicious site that happens to use the
same certificate? If you want to whitelist them, you must also record
the domain that the error originated from and the error code, and only
automatically allow the error if the domain + error code +
  fingerprints match

  - When accepting an error, there is no visual cue in the header bar
that you're on a site with security errors.

  - If you press the stop icon in the addressbar whilst the certificate
error UI is displayed, the pending navigation is cancelled (returning
to the previous committed navigation), but the certificate error UI is
not removed. There is a CertificateError.cancelled signal for this
purpose - I'm not sure if you're using it or not

  - There doesn't seem to be any indicator when you go to a site that
  has an EV certificate

  --- UX Comment ---
Additional wireframe for top bar displaying warning when certificate identity
is not verified

For EV certificate, just display EV information in the pop-over

Bug description:
  See http://developer.ubuntu.com/api/qml/sdk-14.10/Ubuntu.Web.WebView
  /#getUAString-method for documentation.

This method is being called by the WebView in Component.onCompleted,
and sets the shared context’s default user agent. If the WebView is
instantiated with a url set, the first HTTP request is issued before
getUAString() is called, and thus potentially with the wrong UA
  string.

This API is racy by design, there’s really no way to fix it.

There are currently 2 apps in the store using this API:

  com.viclog.2048
  com.viclog.flappybird

and 3 more using it with the UbuntuWebView, which is version 0.1 of
  the API, based on QtWebKit:

  com.ubuntu.developer.andrewsomething.stackbrowser
  com.ubuntu.developer.daker.x-type
  com.ubuntu.developer.fcole90.feedspot

Seeing those relatively small numbers, I think it’s a good opportunity
to remove the API altogether, after ensuring that the apps are fixed
to not use it. Documentation will need to be updated.

UPDATE: as of 2014-12-11, com.viclog.2048 and com.viclog.flappybird have been
updated in the store, they no longer use WebView.getUAString(). So effectively
no application uses the API, and it should be safe to remove it.

[Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1373571] [NEW] Add the ability to include the device product name in the user agent string

2014-09-24 Thread Pat McGowan
Public bug reported:

In order to be well supported in the wurfl database we would like to
include a product name in the string. This is used as a key to ascertain
capabilities.

Our default UA already has a placeholder for a device ID, which by
default is empty. What we’re missing is a mechanism to expose the actual
device ID to QML.

We would need to do additional testing to ensure the addition does not
adversely affect results.

The differences are:
2D graphics we fail Path Support (2 pts)
Web Applications we fail custom search providers (1 pt)
Storage we fail on Local Storage (5 pts)

Chromium fails in one place webbrowser-app does not User Interactions
CSS Selectors (2 pts)

On Touch we get a 498
We fail User Interactions for Drag and Drop (3 pts)

FWIW these are quite good scrores
Wondering if these are simply build options that we can enable to get the same

same results.
