[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 312707] Re: chips driver not loaded for 69030 chipset
This should be fixed in Lucid alpha1, which has version 1.2.2 of the driver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 487185] Re: [g45] On Intel G45 unable to read EDID block in Dmesg after move from G35 to G45
I have same situation, bu unfortunately I have problems too. I have port replicator with connected external monitor. So this monitor is not detected or just disappears on some random bases. After a while it can be detected again. Display preferences, Detect monitor - nothing happens (i.e. changes). Reboot typically helps. I have Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 438346] Re: [i915gm] [jaunty, karmic] X freezes every day or so
I can confirm this bug, also happening in a Acer TravelMate 5730. Freezes happen after being suspended, within 0-6 hours after resuming it. If I don't suspend, the machine runs smoothly. Also for suspending it I have to do it twice. The first time never suspends, I just get the Screensaver. Then I try to suspend again and it works. Maybe is related? Hibernate does not work, I just get the screensaver everytime. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 451974] Re: Black video minimizing Totem window
Fine, here are some results. It seems the issue is related to XVideo extension and Compiz. Window Manager Compiz - Totem[1] (using ximagesink) - no issue - Totem (using xvimagesink or autovideosink) - issue - Totem (using xvimagesink device=0[2]) - issue - VLC (XV output in prefs) - issue - VLC (X11 output in prefs) - no issue - VLC (ascii art output) - no issue - mplayer -vo gl|gl2|x11 - no issue - mplayer -vo xv - issue (BTW it's the default one when no -vo is provided) Window Manager Metacity All applications work fine with any video output. I could perfom more tests using free Ati driver, but I can't enable Compiz with them, so I suppose it's not useful. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 495627] [NEW] Dell E6500 unable to use native resolution (monitor doesn't support reduced blanking)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I sincerely apologize if this is a duplicate. I didn't see any bug reports that directly dealt with the monitor doesn't support reduced blanking problem on my specific Intel chipset. I tried the nomodeline kernel boot parameter trick, as I found in another bug report, and I still was unable to use my laptop's native resolution (1920x1200). I noticed in the Xorg log that the reduced blanking message appeared next to the mode I would like to use, which is why I think this may be the most relevant clue to the problem. This is a brand new laptop, and I haven't really got a lot invested in it yet, so I'm currently attempting a dist-upgrade to Lucid to see if the newer kernel, etc. will solve my problem or not. It would be good to know if this problem has already been fixed, for the purposes of assigning importance to this report. I'd be happy to provide any additional information I can! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 495253] Re: Failsafe mode uses Ubuntu specific branding unnecessarily
[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.] I'm not sure how any of those logs have any relevance to this issue. The concern isn't how failsafe mode comes to be started, but instead what is displayed once it is. Nonetheless, I've attempted to comply... however intentionally invoking the failsafe mode is rather difficult, especially on Karmic... I will reinstall Jaunty, and try to post a screenshot with the exact dialogs in question, if that will help. -- Failsafe mode uses Ubuntu specific branding unnecessarily https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495253 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 495627] Re: Dell E6500 unable to use native resolution (monitor doesn't support reduced blanking)
Short story: So I'm an idiot. We can close this ticket. It turns out that my laptop's native resolution is 1280x800. Longer story: I had assumed I had the higher resolution, because this is a company issued laptop, and we ordered several of the same device. My coworkers all use Windows, and I'm the loner Ubuntu guy. We just got these, and I found out that one of my coworker's machines was running at 1920x1200. It turns out that Dell must have shipped us different displays on our machines, so I will take it up with them. Sadly, I can't seem to force the failsafe mode in 9.10 in order to post screenshots from it. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 495252] Re: Login with GNOME or Failsafe GNOME session goes black then back to login screen
Interesting. A brand new user account gets a working session. I created a new user, and tried logging in to the default GNOME session. This gave me the default desktop, panels and menus. At this point, I can see that even a successful login produces a fair number of error messages in the .xsession_errors file. In particular, the message that had seemed suspicious to me initially about an assertion failure in gnome-settings-daemon is still there. However, later messages in the failed session such as Connection reset by peer and Resource temporarily unavailable referring to the X server do not appear in the successful session. I would like to figure out what significant difference there is between the old and new accounts that causes the session to fail, both so I can repair my original account, and so that whatever bug caused the settings to be broken in the update can be repaired. -- Login with GNOME or Failsafe GNOME session goes black then back to login screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495252 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 495735] [NEW] Screen flickering during CPU and/or disk activity
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome I've installed 9.10 64-bit on an Averatec 2260-EK1 laptop, which has a VIA KM800 graphics chip. I believe that it is using the openchrome driver (which I can't verify since there is no xorg.conf anymore). Resolution is set to 1280x800 so I know it isn't dropping back to the vesa driver as it did when I tried using Ubuntu on this laptop a couple years ago. The problem is that the screen occassionally flickers, which is very annoying. What seems to be happening is the video buffer is being drawn onto the screen in the wrong position, since in the flickering I will see things such as pieces of a window I have open appearing elsewhere on the screen, etc. Sometimes the machine will go a few minutes without this flickering occurring, and other times it will happen a lot. From what I've experienced, I think the problem is happening more when the computer is more busy. I haven't been able to isolate whether it's CPU or disk activity that's the culprit. Please let me know if you need any more information to track down this bug. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Screen flickering during CPU and/or disk activity https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495735 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-openchrome in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
