[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 512192] Re: Can't configure Elan tech touchpad on Dell Inspiron 11z, Asus K7I0C and maybe also Dell Mini 10 (not V), ASUS k40in, Asus U81A and ASUS UL80-VT.
I have the elantech touchpad on my zepto znote 3215W. Kernel 2.6.31-17-generic the bug I reported in was assigned but is no longer so i don't know what is going to happen about it. It was completely unusable and could not be configured. It is still not working fully. I can now disable tapping but it seems there are at least 2 problems: 1/ There seems to be some interaction between psmouse and the keyboard - with psmouse loaded then there seems to be a huge amount of key bounce as I type so that it repeats many times like i for one or more keys during typing a word. This is so in a terminal window, with gedit or openoffice writer and so on. If I rmmod psmouse ( I am using a usb mouse and only load psmouse when testing ) the bounce goes away 2/ If I try to move the mouse pointer from the bottom to the top of the screen or vice versa then I have to stroke the touchpad several times - which is normal i know. Problem is that sometimes I might stroke it once from bottom to top, the pointer moves about 1/3 to 1/2 way up, then I put my finger at the bottom to stroke it again and the pointer jumps back down to the bottom of the screen as soon as my finger touches the pad. This sometimes means I have to stroke it as many as 10 or even 12 times before it gets where I want. Then it might work normally for several minutes before it starts messing about again. Not sure exactly what the issue is but I have tried other live distros such as mandriva and Suse and the problem is the same. I do wonder if it is a fault with my touchpad but it has been like this from day one when I was running Ubuntu 8.04. ( I bought the machine with no O/S ) -- Can't configure Elan tech touchpad on Dell Inspiron 11z, Asus K7I0C and maybe also Dell Mini 10 (not V), ASUS k40in, Asus U81A and ASUS UL80-VT. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/512192 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 456902] Re: [i845G] Karmic stops responding a few minutes after log in
I found another way to freeze the system. For me, the following command will usually trigger a freeze before it completes: x11perf -range copywinpix10,comppixwin500 -time 1 -repeat 1 I'd like to find out if that freeze is connected to this one. If it is, then we have a good, reproducible test case. So along with reporting whether a version freezes during regular use, I'm also interested whether the above x11perf command causes freezes. Also, since there are multiple revisions of the i845, it's good to report what version you have with this command: lspci | grep VGA Mine looks like this: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01) -- [i845G] Karmic stops responding a few minutes after log in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/456902 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 486837] Re: Freezes with nvidia-glx-185 or -190 after upgrade from jaunty to karmic
This time, I reproduced the freeze on a ubuntu 9.04 liveCD. I installed version 180.44 of the nvidia proprietary drivers, and version 10.0.42.34 of adobe proprietary flash plugin. The computer froze again while displaying the Home movie. One interesting thing : I never experienced such freezes when I was running ubuntu 9.04 installed on my PC, before upgrading to 9.10. That leads me to 2 possible assumptions : - the problem comes from a software bug, that appeared in a recent version of nvidia drivers, or in a recent version of flash - the problem comes from a hardware issue, that appeared precisely when I upgraded to ubuntu 9.10 If it's a software bug in flash plugin, this bug appeared in version 10.0.32.18. Because I was certainly using the previous one (10.0.22.87) when I was using ubuntu 9.04. Cf http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/multiverse/f/flashplugin-nonfree/flashplugin-nonfree_10.0.42.34ubuntu0.9.04.1/changelog I'm not very confident that it could be a bug in nvidia drivers, because version 180.44 is the one I was certainly using with ubuntu 9.04. Cf http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/restricted/n/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180_180.44-0ubuntu1/changelog I don't think it could be a hardware problem : it would be surprising that it happens only after upgrading to 9.10, and not when using the nvidia open-source drivers. -- Freezes with nvidia-glx-185 or -190 after upgrade from jaunty to karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486837 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

The mouse works on start up but then stops working after a few minutes. A usb mouse can be plugged into a usb port on the pc and that mouse will work. Hi! Honestly, I dont understand autoconfig scripts and those kind of things =) (I dont know if it helps), but I manage to get the 1024x600 resolution in Karmic with this minimal xorg.conf. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 293698] Re: [RV280 9250] No signal to monitor in 8.04 unless NoDRI used
Looks like my previous report was largely premature. After looking deeper into issue I've found that my initial ati driver install and configuration somehow get screwed up along with some other components like libgl1-mesa-glx and libgl1-mesa-dri. All at a sudden I found direct rendering reset to NO and glxgears showing extremely low frame rate. After re-installing everything, then running dpkg-reconfigure xserver- xorg I have things running way faster, and I get back my direct rendering. glxgears shows frame rate about 8 (!) times faster then before. I do not know yet, if the no signal problem has gone. I hope so very much. I'll watch it. It seems that I misunderstood the fix released message as well. I thought I get it on my Hardy with one of the latest updates. Then I realized that it affected Karmic only. Again, sorry, for the premature report. -- [RV280 9250] No signal to monitor in 8.04 unless NoDRI used https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293698 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xserver-xorg-driver-ati. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 515371] [NEW] [Lucid] radeonhd driver does not work with a monitor section in xorg.conf
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd The Radeon card in my machine does not detect EDID information from my monitor, so I need to use a Monitor section in xorg.conf to set a modeline for the monitor.
