[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 575894] [NEW] Openoffice freezes X-session
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: openoffice.org After upgrading from 9.10 to 10.04, openoffice has been causing my X-sessions to freeze (unresponsive keyboard, mouse, etc). I completely removed openoffice with synaptic and reinstalled. This seemed to alter the look of openoffice (I have the impression that previously I had the older version running somehow?), but the problem remains. The freezes seem to happen after multiple openings/closings of documents. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 542660] Re: New Apple iMac (Core i5) fails to display anything
I think the most annoying thing about ubuntu or any version there of is the lack of people able to write a step by step process of what they did. Everyone just assumes that you know what you are talking about. So much implied knowledge in these forums that you get lost in what worked, what didn't work, and what used to work but doesn't and why. If you found a way to install it be descriptive in what you did for the less programmer savvy. -- New Apple iMac (Core i5) fails to display anything https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/542660 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xserver-xorg-driver-ati. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 242590] Re: udev rules should be installed by default
great job Soren! It's nice to have a unified driver, much easier to support etc. i was just looking through the evdev and evtouch code and trying to understand if evtouch has some sort of right-click emulation via LONG_TOUCH, which is the only other thing I would miss in evdev (although it might not be that usable anyway) On Wed, May 5, 2010 at 10:30 PM, Soren Hauberg so...@hauberg.org wrote: @eric I did the initial implementation of touchscreen support in 'evdev', so I'm glad that works for you :-) It should, however, be said that 'evtouch' does quite a bit more than 'evdev' (it has more options). I don't think this bug should be closed, instead it should be fixed :-) Basically, this bug is about if the user decides to install a package then it should be properly configured by default. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati When logging in, each time the background on the right screen in my dualhead setup doesn't seem to repaint properly. Whenever I drag a window over it, it's showing trails of the window, indicating that the background is broken. I can also not right click on the background to get the nautilus menu (create Folder etc.). Going into preferences and disabling, then re-enabling the right monitor fixes it, until the next restart of X. It seems very similar to bug #378482, reported against the intel video drivers, but since fixed apparently. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 305586] Re: continuous [driAllocateTexture:636] even when idle
Hi Bryce, With Lucid I have switched to Kubuntu on that machine. I'm not sure whether it is possible to retest the original problem in Kubuntu, because the visual effects are probably quite differently implemtned. I cannot promise that I have time to install Ubuntu until June, but I'll try to keep it in mind. As mentioned in comment #12 I'm not sure whether log writings would appear in LiveCD environment (after all there is no disk to write the log to) So I guess installing Ubuntu Lucid is the only way to be sure. -- continuous [driAllocateTexture:636] even when idle https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305586 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 372841] Re: [X1400] Cursor vanishes in narrow vertical strip of 2nd display
Sorry Bryce, I'm unable to do a retest as the laptop with the ATI X1400 Gfx chip decided to die on me. I'm now using an NVIDIA based laptop, so I can't be of any further help here. Perhaps one of the other people that commented as having this affect them could retest. -- [X1400] Cursor vanishes in narrow vertical strip of 2nd display https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372841 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 574069] Re: [Lucid] Loading nvidia-settings hurts compiz performance
Idea: I noticed that gnome desktop takes more than it used to in previous releases. At first, I tought it was nautilus pre-loaded instance that was slow to load. But now I think it trough, it is much more possible that it is COMPIZ who takes so long to load, much more than in previous releases (at least on my pc). With loosee bindings enabled (which is required for nvidia chips as far as I know) may it be possible that bindings to opengl libraries are screwed if nvidia- settings are applied BEFORE compiz finish to load? That would explain why my rapid fix that waits five seconds before calling nvidia- settings --load-config-only works... and it would mean that maybe this bug's related package is something else and not nvidia-settings by its own. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 574069] Re: [Lucid] Loading nvidia-settings hurts compiz performance
Your thought may be correct in my opinion, because in my case I can see that Compiz effects loading takes a *very* long time after I login. The desktop background appears, and gnome-do gets launched immediately, but the menu at the top of the screen isn't present until the effects start to run, after about 15 seconds. That said, 15s it's not such a long wait, but I can clearly remember that Compiz loading was faster in Karmic. -- [Lucid] Loading nvidia-settings hurts compiz performance https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574069 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-settings in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 331522] Re: [RS690] flickering after update on Jaunty
Hi Bryce! Actually, I still have my HP Compaq 6715b with the Radeon X1250 card On karmic it worked well, now on lucid it also works acceptable, but with small problems: - Before the GDM login, garbage becomes visible on the screen (This garbage then fades to the gdm login background) - Once I used fast user switching two times in a short period of time. After the second time, the screen started to flicker. Changing the resolution didn't help. When I wanted to logout (so I could go to the other profile to save the data and reboot) the screen became blank, and i had to use the power switch to shutdown the machine. After the reboot everything was back to normal. So I'm not sure if this is actually the same bug, maybe you can provide directions (I'm also not sure if this bug is easily reproducible) -- [RS690] flickering after update on Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331522 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xserver-xorg-driver-ati. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
