RedSingularity, I'm not sure this is a duplicate. Bug 439448 is about the contents of applets getting scrambled, which is not the case here. Also, the current one is always reproducible, whereas 439448 triggers in an apparently random fashion. I'll unmark it for now, but if you think it still is, please feel free to elaborate on the reasons and mark it as a duplicate again. Thanks! ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 439448 Visual corruption affecting several panel applets -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/730476 Title: Part of the time appears cut off when displaying the day of the week and date ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 727620] Re: [Radeon HD 5650 and 5470] Driver crash during recovery boot and in normal boot (Regression from 2.6.38-3 to -4)
I confirm that the bug is still there. I install last update this morning (I saw xserver-xorg-video-ati, -radeon... update so I was expecting the bug to be solved). When I restart, I need to reboot more than 5 time before I get a desktop. And now, when the boot crash, I don't get any shell, screen stay black (as if it is off). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 737755] Re: Natty: Cannot boot with proprietary NVIDIA driver for GeForce 8800 GT.
Thanks for your report. The freeze you reported originally was probably cause d by the ABI change to X 1.10. There has been a short period of time during which the driver and X were out of sync, that's why the update fixed it. About the Unity unstability, do you have accessibility enabled on your system ? To check this open the accessibility preferences dialog: * With Unity click on the top-right 'Power' icon, select 'System settings' then 'Assistive technologies' * With classic desktop: Click on the top left icon, select 'System/Preferences/Assistive technologies' And check that none of the checkbox is checked. If assistive technologies is not enabled and you are experiencing the Unity freeze with Alt+tab or other action could you please file a new report against Unity with the command: ubuntu-bug unity About the performance issue, is it just that the rendering of glxgears being stall or the performance being bad ? If so, what performances do you usually get with this system and what is the degradation compared to a previous version of the driver ? ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/737755 Title: Natty: Cannot boot with proprietary NVIDIA driver for GeForce 8800 GT. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 731810] Re: conflicting memory types - Failed to allocate primary buffer: out of memory
I'm having the same problem. Most of the time I boot my systems, it hangs right after showing the kubuntu splash screen and just where it should show the Nvidia one. If I turn off and on again the computer a few times (2 to 10 times), eventually it will boot. I have seen in the Nvidia forum (http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=169294) the suggestion to add the nopat kernel parameter in /etc/default/grub: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=nopat However, I don't know what it means and what side effects that workaround could have in performance or others, or even if that could fix the problem. Somewhere else I have seen the suggestion to remove splash from GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT. However, I don't know what that means either. Using Ubuntu Natty with all the recent updates. ** Attachment added: Xorg.5.log https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/731810/+attachment/1926155/+files/Xorg.5.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/731810 Title: conflicting memory types - Failed to allocate primary buffer: out of memory ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 713551] Re: Xorg freeze; system locks and accepts no input, keyboard lights go out when key is touched
I left my MythTV system running with my main account logged into TTY4 and have had serveral crasahes which produced out; there have also been two or three crashes that did not produce any output but still locked up the system. This trace looks like it is communicating with the recorder I have hocked up to the system via USB; I guess this means that my USB controller, connection or recorder could be faulty or that some spurious hardware fault occurs while the comms are running. It could also mean that the firmware for the recorder is wrong, poorly configured or not handling an event well. ** Also affects: mythtv Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: Image of output from Crash taken from TTY4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/mythtv/+bug/713551/+attachment/1926316/+files/IMAG1120_small.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/713551 Title: Xorg freeze; system locks and accepts no input, keyboard lights go out when key is touched ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 713551] Re: Xorg freeze; system locks and accepts no input, keyboard lights go out when key is touched
This was the most resent crash I have seen and I cannot see anything which relates directly to MythTV or the USB connection to my hardware. This could mean that the system does have an intermittent hardware fault and that there is no software solution possible. I will continue to gather diagnostics when I can in case there is some strange condition I am hitting. Hopefully I can find some new hardware to setup and run the same USB TV Recorder from using the same version of Ubuntu and MythTV. If the fault does no occur on that in a month of normal operation then I guess it would pretty much confirm if this is a hardware fault in the host PC or not. I will have to get hold of a second recorder to confirm if it is the USB device that is creating an issue but that can wait until after I have check that my host PC's hardware is a likely culprit. ** Attachment added: Image of crash output from tty4; no obvious mythtv related output https://bugs.launchpad.net/mythtv/+bug/713551/+attachment/1926366/+files/IMAG1128_small.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/713551 Title: Xorg freeze; system locks and accepts no input, keyboard lights go out when key is touched ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 736523] Re: cannot left click and drag with touchpad (regression)
This is actually a kernel bug. The dell mini netbooks have a special synaptics trackpad that has semi-multitouch capabilities on top of a pair of integrated buttons. Linux 2.6.38 adds support for the semi- multitouch feature. Before the addition of the multitouch feature, the bottom 1/3 of the trackpad was disabled in the X synaptics driver. Now, we've got touch functionality in the kernel that probably will need to be masked out in the driver. I had been looking into this a few months ago, but I gave the work up to focus on other parts of the stack. I probably should take another look at it now. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Chase Douglas (chasedouglas) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/736523 Title: cannot left click and drag with touchpad (regression) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Hi Jansonxi, Thanks for testing ubuntu on this hardware, but we're advising 8xx hardware testers to work directly with upstream (via bugs.freedesktop.org or the freedesktop mailing list). At the distro level for Ubuntu we're focusing only on 9xx hardware and newer now. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/738478 Title: [i845] GPU lockup (ESR: 0x0010 PGTBL_ER: 0x0049 IPEHR: 0x54f6) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

This looks very much like a dupe of bug 702090 which *should* now be fixed. That bug involves fixes to a bunch of different components, so even though you're on the correct kernel version I'm suspecting one of those pieces aren't at the right version. Unfortunately since 702090 technically is lower down in the system than X the X bug report tools don't capture the version numbers of these pieces. Please confirm that you have the following versions of each package installed: udev - 166-0ubuntu4 plymouth - 0.8.2-2ubuntu18 module-init-tools - 3.12-1ubuntu4 gdm - 2.32.0-0ubuntu12 After verifying you have those versions, reboot the system, and verify whether the bug is still present. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/738861 Title: [IGDgm] GPU lockup (ESR: 0x0010 PGTBL_ER: 0x0002 IPEHR: 0x0100) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703210] Re: Power converter kits for international travel negatively affects touchpad
Hi Eric, Since there isn't enough info here to really pinpoint what led to this issue I'm not going to forward the bug upstream. They'd almost certainly want to see some testing done to verify the cause. Also, a lot has changed upstream since this was reported so it's likely they'd want to see it reproduced on newer kernel bits before they'd do analysis of it. At the distro level I think this is such an uncommon corner case anyway that given the lack of info/test case it probably isn't worth tracking for natty. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/703210 Title: Power converter kits for international travel negatively affects touchpad ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat
I'm dropping the 'natty' tag added by Marius since to accept this bug against the development release we need the info I asked for in a previous comment. The bug has been forwarded upstream and upstream developers are aware of it, and since it's a minor annoyance (rather than an X lockup or crash), it's not top priority for us for the release. I think there is not anything particular we would do about this issue for natty. Also, from re-reading the comments on this and the upstream bug, it sounds like there may be a couple or more different variants on the keyboard gets stuck issue, which unfortunately are all gathered on this bug report due to it having kind of a general purpose topic. So, if people do want to see progress on this bug it might be better to file *new* bugs and be very specific about the issue (with exact steps to reproduce, up to date logs, etc.) ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete ** Tags removed: natty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124406 Title: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
