[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 807968] Re: GLX module fails

2011-08-23 Thread Timo Aaltonen
When you enabled the nvidia driver it created an xorg.conf for you.
Recover that, or try re-enabling the driver.

The bug still occurs and the apport make a bug report each time. I use

 Hi v-miheer, a few questions...

First, since you reported this last month have you seen other instances
 of this problem?

A GPU lockup typically involves the system being locked up hard - mouse
pointer may move, but is totally unresponsive otherwise and you have to
power cycle the machine.  Did that happen?  I ask because sometimes
there are fake lockups, where the video driver is able to immediately
recover - it trips the crash detector but your system is otherwise fine.

If you do have real lockups and have seen them recently, about how often
does it seem to occur - like every time right after starting up the
Ubuntu Unity desktop environment, or only after some period of use, or
 randomly?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 582809] Re: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working

2011-08-23 Thread Stefan Bader
I may be overlooking something but to me it looks that (at least for the
kernel side), the only change needed would be:

commit 3bfa321e662edf90fb8123a02c987c2965fa50bb
Author: Yan Li yan.i...@intel.com
Date: Tue Nov 30 23:51:03 2010 -0800

Input: synaptics - fix handling of 2-button ClickPads

which is present in 2.6.35-25.43. Then the only thing left open for
Lucid from the kernel side would be to have that change there as well.
Is that correct?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 689507] Re: Doesn't support Nvidia Geforce GTS 360M

2011-08-23 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Can you boot with 'drm.debug=0x06' added to the kernel cmdline (edit it
via the grub menu), and attach the dmesg output here. I assume that the
virtual terminals don't work either, so you probably need to install
'openssh-server' too and connect to the machine via ssh to get the logs.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 689507] Re: Doesn't support Nvidia Geforce GTS 360M

2011-08-23 Thread Evgeny Martynov
Not sure if that is different from previous versions, but:

Oneiric A3 displayed a similar maze as before (Lucid, Maverick), but
after a while, a mouse cursor appeared and I could control it from the
touchpad. Weird. I also can get into a tty, too, which I don't think was
possible before. Did so from the live-cd/usb, if that matters.

dmesg output is attached (live-cd, can't install oneiric because of
ubiquity throwing a tantrum)

Subject: [Bug 829334] Re: Xorg doesn't start after the update

We don't support hand-installed upstream drivers. Ubuntu provides a
driver version for Nvidia, and it's the only version that's supported.

When you install the vendor driver by hand, the installation script
builds the module for the current kernel ABI version, so you need to
build a version for the new update. Or just purge the driver and use
what Ubuntu provides (with automatic kernel module builds etc).

I've posted an update to the driver, this time just as a dkms package.
It's avaiable at

I can reproduce this when running xvfb-run under fakeroot (as will be
the case when xvfb-run is called from an 'install' or 'binary' target on
the autobuilder). Something has regressed to make xvfb-run incompatible
with fakeroot.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 650539] Re: SRU: Launching a Qt app crashes X when using Xinerama

2011-08-23 Thread Alkalyzer
It seems that this bug just recently occurred to me after a kernel update.
I am running Natty (64 bits) with the nvidia drivers from the repositories
(280.13). Everything worked fine until the yesterday update to kernel
2.6.38-11, then all QT applications produced a segmentation fault and sent me
back to gdm.
Removing xfs solved this issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 831486] Re: Multiple X server segmentation faults after upgrade to kernel 2.6.38-11

2011-08-23 Thread Alkalyzer
I found the bug #650539 displaying very similar features to the one I reported
despite never being reported for Natty.
I tried the last workaround suggested in comment #151 of this bug :

sudo apt-get remove xfs

And the crashes disappeared. I can now run all the problematic
applications without problem.

Thus, maybe this bug is a duplicate of bug #650539, in this case, it has
reappeared and can now be found in Natty, too.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 681904] Re: [arrandale] Samsung QX310/QX410/QX510/SF310/SF410/SF510/NF210/RF410/RF510/RF511/RF710 trackpad/touchpad not recognized

2011-08-23 Thread Daniel Manrique
Hi Seth,

Thanks so much for the deb for the dkms driver. Super-easy to install:

wget -c http://people.canonical.com/~sforshee/lp681904/psmouse-elantech-
dkms/v0.1/psmouse-elantech-dkms_0.1_all.deb

sudo dpkg --install psmouse-elantech-dkms_0.1_all.deb

I simply rmmoded the old psmouse driver, then modprobed the old one on
the fly and things started working. . Mouse pointer functionality, two
finger scroll and double-tap-for-right-click are what I tested, all seem
to work just as with the previous patch (I was using the dkms version of
the elantech-v6 patch).

This is on Natty with a just-installed 2.6.38-11 kernel, running on a
Samsung QX410.

My dmesg reads:

[ 148.846439] elantech: assuming hardware version 3, firmware version 133.27.0
[ 148.880705] elantech: Synaptics capabilities query result 0x19, 0x14, 0x0c.

[ 148.972206] input: ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad as

Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks again!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 781402] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 / Unity freezing when screen is 'woken up'

2011-08-23 Thread damormino
We are experiencing this bug on 3 computers. All computers are running
Natty 11.04 x86_64 desktop.

After some inactivity by the user, the screen is black and the mouse
pointer is visible and moves with the mouse.

We have not experience this problem when the user logs in the same
computer with Ubuntu Classic (no effects), which we believe disables
Unity.

The file i915_error_state contains: no error state collected

I have attached 2 other files: dmesg.txt and Xorg.0.log (the latter in a
comment to follow.

Thanks Zaki.
However after
sudo rmmod psmouse

It gave me an error. Module psmouse does not exist in /proc/modules

I understand this isn't a board for me to raise more questions but I could
really use some help on this, since my pad isn't working now.
Thanks a lot.

2011-08-23 Thread EricDP
I just tried the DKMS in post 123 on an nf210

uname -a yields...

Linux elara 2.6.38-10-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jun 28 15:05:41 UTC
2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

The module won't load. modprobe gives...

FATAL: Error inserting psmouse
(/lib/modules/2.6.38-10-generic/updates/dkms/psmouse.ko): Unknown symbol
in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

bottom lines of dmesg are...

[92650.108872] psmouse: Unknown symbol hgpk_module_init (err 0)
[92650.111041] psmouse: Unknown symbol hgpk_init (err 0)

Thanks Eric.

Could you please post how to revert back so I could use the trackpad
again haha

I just saw there's a release that works with nf210 hopefully in post
#113 but couldn't get it started either. Looks like I need to fix the
trackpad first.

Thanks in advance.
