[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 449208] Re: touchpad tap-to-click response delayed .5 seconds
If you're using a synaptics touchpad, I actually worked around this by adjusting the completely insane default settings that X is set up with. Here's the config I run when I log into a new X session: syn RightEdge 911 syn BottomEdge 670 syn MaxTapTime 250 syn BMaxTapMove 10 syn SingleTapTimeout 300 syn ClickTime 100 syn MaxDoubleTapTime 500 syn HorizEdgeScroll 0 syn SHMConfig true syn AccelFactor .5 syn MinSpeed 0.8 syn MaxSpeed 0.8 syn ScrollButtonRepeat 50 This gives me right-side scrolling, a very responsive click, somewhat sensitive touchpad movement, and a lower acceleration factor than I recall X coming with. All in all it cleaned up the absolutely atrocious default synaptic behavior into something that's somewhat liveable. Please try this if you have a synaptics touchpad and see if it cures your click woes. If it does, please post that it does, and perhaps we can entice the troll under the linux synaptics bridge to change the defaults. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/449208 Title: touchpad tap-to-click response delayed .5 seconds To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/449208/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Hi Bryce, thank you for dealing with this. Meanwhile I upgraded to oneiric. The behaviour is different now. The fullscreen mode works, but it completely discards the specified display number. The remote desktop appears on the same display from which I started Xephyr. If I press Ctrl-Alt then I can switch between the local windows by Alt-Tab. That is fine. So it is usable now, since it does not move the local desktop to another display. It would be nice, however, to put the remote desktop to the display that is specified by the :display argument. But it is not much important. Or, if this is the intended behaviour then it could be enough to document it in the manual page. I used this command: $ Xephyr :3 -fullscreen -query miles Best, Miklos On Wed, Nov 9, 2011 at 4:08 AM, Bryce Harrington 847...@bugs.launchpad.netwrote: Hey espakm, You filed this bug report against natty, but I see it's still open and doesn't appear to have much activity recently. So, now that oneiric is released and stable, this may be a good point for you to upgrade and re-test if this issue is still present there. If it's solved in the new release and you think it's worth backporting the fix, please indicate that. Or if having the fix in the new release is good enough, feel free to close out the bug (or let us know and we'll close it.) If it's not solved, leave the bug report open. I can't promise we'll get to it (we get way more bugs filed than we can usually get to), but your testing and feedback can help out if and when we do. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/847928 Title: Xephyr in fullscreen mode uses :0 always To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/847928/+subscriptions -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/847928 Title: Xephyr in fullscreen mode uses :0 always To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/847928/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 838577] Re: GNOME Shell display problems with FGLRX
Sorry for being confrontational, but I found the proposal to close down the bug report a bit unbearable. Besides the original poster there are many others which are confronted with this problem, as the thread shows it. The idea is not to close the bug reports (maybe a wonder happened and now there is no longer the need to work on it), but to solve those bug reports. If wonders are expected, migrating to another distribution may be one... Oneiric has many problems per sé, dismissing its users is the worst choice, as they are already quite dissapointed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838577 Title: GNOME Shell display problems with FGLRX To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fglrx/+bug/838577/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk
Switching to VTs however does not. furthermore I got this on my kernel log: Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124572] [ cut here ] Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124580] WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-3.0.0/kernel/power/suspend_test.c:53 suspend_test_finish+0x89/0x90() Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124582] Hardware name: 2007FVG Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124584] Component: resume devices, time: 10812 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124587] Modules linked in: bnep rfcomm parport_pc ppdev binfmt_misc joydev snd_hda_codec_analog pcmcia snd_hda_intel snd_hda_codec snd_hwdep snd_pcm snd_seq_midi hdj_mod btusb arc4 bluetooth snd_rawmidi snd_seq_midi_event ath9k yenta_socket psmouse pcmcia_rsrc serio_raw pcmcia_core mac80211 ath9k_common snd_seq ath9k_hw thinkpad_acpi nvram nsc_ircc irda ath radeon snd_timer snd_seq_device crc_ccitt tpm_tis cfg80211 video snd ttm drm_kms_helper drm i2c_algo_bit soundcore snd_page_alloc lp parport usbhid hid ahci libahci xhci_hcd e1000e btrfs zlib_deflate libcrc32c Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124644] Pid: 20240, comm: pm-suspend Not tainted 3.0.0-13-generic #22-Ubuntu Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124646] Call Trace: Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124652] [c1047982] warn_slowpath_common+0x72/0xa0 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124666] [c1084af9] ? suspend_test_finish+0x89/0x90 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124670] [c1084af9] ? suspend_test_finish+0x89/0x90 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124674] [c1047a53] warn_slowpath_fmt+0x33/0x40 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124678] [c1084af9] suspend_test_finish+0x89/0x90 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124681] [c108483a] suspend_devices_and_enter+0xba/0x180 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124685] [c10849fe] enter_state+0xfe/0x130 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124688] [c1083f4a] state_store+0x8a/0xc0 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124692] [c1083ec0] ? pm_trace_dev_match_show+0x20/0x20 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124697] [c127eecb] kobj_attr_store+0x1b/0x30 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124702] [c1185656] sysfs_write_file+0xa6/0x100 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124716] [c112876f] vfs_write+0x8f/0x160 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124719] [c11855b0] ? sysfs_poll+0x80/0x80 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124723] [c1128a4d] sys_write+0x3d/0x70 Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124727] [c152cc24] syscall_call+0x7/0xb Nov 9 11:51:32 deepblue kernel: [39839.124730] ---[ end trace 307b324cec6bf296 ]--- ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/887993 Title: desktop sluggish after resume from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/887993/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 767159] Re: udevadm trigger --action=change crashes X.Org Server
My first instinct would be to try the following patch. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 858916] Re: [nouveau?] Graphic card 108°C in Ubuntu 11.10
The computer still gets rather hot (and really hot when forcing Unity on), but it's not a 110°C anymore. Now the hottest it gets (using Unity 2D) is around 90 to 100°C. My personal opinion is that it would be best to get to the source of this heat production, as I've had this problem on another computer as well running Ubuntu 11.10. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 887933] [NEW] KDE taskbar (the bottom panel) doesn't respond occasionally
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After upgrade from Kubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 the bottom panel started to freeze every now and then. It stops working for about 1 or 2 minutes. During this time I can't switch windows (but ALT+TAB works), can't switch workspaces (but CTRL+F1 - F4 works), I'm unable to start the launcher (but ALT+F2 works) or the calendar or anything else. The whole bottom panel is out of order for some time. After a while it works again and I can see that all previous clicks are quickly processed. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 776322] Re: Switch to dual monitor causes second screen to show garbage.
Hi Bryce, I switched to Oneiric on two of my systems. I have not seen the bug. But then again I don't think I booted into the live CD mode of the DVD. It seems to be my home system that I reported this on. On both systems I had trouble getting the system to run in dual screen mode. On one system I had to go and hack configuration files to get the dual screen mode to stay. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 816899] Re: X crashes with segmentation fault
Thanks for the comment. I have not experienced this particular failure mode for some time now (but then again I have not been using LibreOffice intensively recently). So it may have been incidentally fixed as a result of a natty upgrade. Given that I can upgrade to oneiric, and that it probably has been fixed in natty, I think it reasonable that it should be closed (so, at least, you have one less bug to worry about). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/816899 Title: X crashes with segmentation fault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/816899/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk
hi Alessandro, you can install it via your own system and then it will be in the language of your system. This is controlled through the control-center of your own system. You don't need to download it from the internet!!! Just use your control-center in Ubuntu or in your derivate, if you use another Ubuntu-derivate. So you have it easy, to install this driver. Or if it doesn't work via your control-center, then just open your synaptic, search for these packages: nvidia-current nvidia-settings Install them, close synaptic and restart your machine, that's just it. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 784523] Re: [i915] 'flashing screen' after update to natty
After updating the system to oneiric, the problem still exists -- flickering on the netbook display, but not on external display, but changed: -- the flickering wouldn't occure anymore spontaneously; -- the flickering occures, when I click on Display in the System Settings (behaviour similar as described for Bug #775088, worse than described for Bug #844235) or when I use the encrease/decrease brightness keys of the keyboard -- I can't stop the flickering anymore (neither through right-click, Alt+Tab or Alt+Ctrl+Del nor through the Win-key [as described in Bug #844235 comment #5], Alt+Ctrl+F2 Alt+Ctrl+F7 [as described in Bug #775088 -- at least this has a little effect, the flashing is pausing or slowing down for a second]) In /etc/default/grub, I added acpi_backlight=vendor to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT parameters as described in comment #45 of Bug #810093, this didn't change anything. Using the samsung-backlight package from https://launchpad.net/~voria/+archive/ppa as described in comment #26 of Bug #810093 helped: no flickering anymore, I can use System Settings Display as well as the brightness keys to change backlight brightness just as I like.
