[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1049534] [NEW] [regression from 12.04] VGA Monitor uses reduced resolution
Public bug reported: Just upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10 beta. I have a dual monitor setup and the monitor connected to the VGA port is useing a reduced default resolution (1024x768) instead of it's native resolution 1280x1024 since the upgrade. I also noticed that the EDID information is missing from Xorg.0.log. I also attach an old Xorg log file (from 12.04) where the EDID information is correct. You have been subscribed to a public bug: When trying to boot a life system from a usb key the system seems to boot normally but the screen turns completely white after about a minute and stays in this state. Pressing the up/down keys triggers a short burst of disk activity, otherwise the system seems to be idle. It is possible to switch to the console with ctrl-alt-f1. At the end of /var/log/syslog I found many lines in the following form: [drm] nouveau :02:00.0: PFIFO_CACHE_ERROR - Ch 2/2 Mthd 0x0800 Data 0x The value after Mthd seems to change - I'll try to copy a sample tonight and attach it to the report. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1019444] Re: Update Precise to mesa 8.0.4 (bugfix micro-release)
Everything seem to run smoothly one old Intel GM965 (GMA X3100) machine, Sandy-Bridge machine and Radeon HD 4670 machine. Not sure if more piglit results were wanted for verification-done, but I let the old machine run piglit tests on 8.0.2 vs 8.0.4: http://people.canonical.com/~tjyrinki/mesa/802-804/compare/ Do note though that I needed to kill a couple of tests on both that seemed to either take literally forever (not even hours enough) or didn't seem to do anything. Also 8.0.2 was run on Unity while 8.0.4 on metacity while trying to preserve the 2GB RAM which seemed to swap completely over in some texture test. Nevertheless, the results look pretty good with amount of passed tests going from 6430 to 6437 with two theoretical regressions (not sure if I could reproduce those but running the tests takes all day) and one warning that was probably caused by metacity. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1019444 Title: Update Precise to mesa 8.0.4 (bugfix micro-release) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1019444/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thanks; I've also done testing on intel and nouveau but haven't studied the results yet. Working on getting an -ati system to run the tests on as well. On Intel, yes there are a couple spots where the test hangs so you have to give it a ^C to continue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1050035] [NEW] [nouveau] GPU lockup with mesa 8.0.4 running piglit
Public bug reported: Running piglit against mesa 8.0.4 produces a GPU lockup (see Xorg.0.log). This is actually an improvement over 8.0.2 which causes a kernel OOPS and unrecoverable full system lockup, however it's still undesired behavior. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
Hi Christian, Looks like maintaining an active ssh session remotely is the only way to troubleshoot this issue. My desktop just froze again, and firefox /plugin-container (flash) was consuming 100% CPU. Killing flash unfreezes the desktop. For the websites I visit, flash usually consumes 10%-20% CPU. I didn't see your comment before last crash. I will report RAM and .xsession-errors next time I experience the issue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
Ahh, that's embarrasing. My fault. I was compiling LLVM 3.1 on a 4G machine, while browsing with many many tabs. When the link stage starts, it consumes lots of RAM and forces the system to swap. I confirmed the RAM thrashing from a remote top. I didn't expect compiling LLVM to use that much RAM. That's where my mouse movement becomes sluggish and finally freezes. Flash player either crashes or freezes and cosumes 100% CPU during swapping. Killing flash is really not the action which restores the system. Requested information attached. ** Attachment added: lspci -vvnn https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/360724/+attachment/3311514/+files/lspci_vnn.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/360724 Title: [RV515] Kubuntu: Corrupted mouse cursor after moving between screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/360724/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
