[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1256561] Re: starting mathematica 9 crashes xserver

2013-12-03 Thread Darko Veberic
while the workaround solved the immediate crash, mathematica still
crashes occasionally on exit. this looks increasingly like a regression
in GL libraries.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1152304] Re: [MacBookPro5, 1] Sometimes key presses get stuck leading to repeated characters

2013-12-03 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Clint Byrum, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please just make a comment to this.

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream
kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this
bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc2

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1205643] Re: VIA P4M800 graphics broken in Lubuntu/Xubuntu Saucy

2013-12-03 Thread Erick Brunzell
@ Maarten Lankhorst,

Yes. When I boot the Lubuntu Trusty 20131129 i386 DVD to the llive DE on
that VIA P4M800 box I just get a blank screen, but you can tell the
backlight is on.

Booting the same image on my Intel box shows this version info:

lubuntu@lubuntu:~$ dpkg -s xserver-xorg-video-openchrome
Package: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome

Description: X.Org X server -- VIA display driver
OpenChrome is a project for the development of free and open-source drivers
for the VIA UniChrome video chipsets.
 .
Originally called the 'snapshot' release, since it was a snapshot of an
experimental branch of the unichrome cvs code, this is a continued development
of the open source unichrome driver (from http://unichrome.sf.net) which
also incorporates support for the unichrome-pro chipsets.
 .
Support for hardware acceleration (XvMC) for all chipsets has subsequently
been ripped out of the unichrome.sf.net driver. Therefore your only option if
you wish to make use of the acceleration features of your VIA chip with free
and open-source drivers is to use this version of the driver.
Original-Maintainer: Debian X Strike Force debia...@lists.debian.org
Homepage: http://www.openchrome.org

AFAIK this broke between Saucy Alpha 1 and Saucy Alpha 2 but I could
never find anything in the changelog to give me any clues.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1200829] Re: Regression: Enabling typical bindings in Desktop-based Viewport Switching breaks scrollwheel scrolling in some windows with a usb mouse on a laptop

2013-12-03 Thread Christopher Townsend
Doug,

I'm still not seeing the Nautilus crash you are seeing even after
creating a new folder on the Desktop and left double clicking it. I
don't think anyone has a patched xserver in a PPA. I can try uploading
it today to my PPA.

Have you tried downgrading your xserver packages and see if the crash
still occurs?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1224254] Re: xrandr Xerrors with the nvidia binary drivers (optimus)

2013-12-03 Thread Alberto Milone
Apparently the modesetting driver doesn't play well when trying to set
the primary output (which does not seem to be supported by the driver).

In any case, we should really make sure to trap the XError and to ignore
it when setting the primary output, instead of only ignoring the error
when we look for the primary output. This solves the problem in
libgnome-desktop.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1257327] [NEW] Ubuntu 13.10 dual monitor screen lock causes windows to disappear off-screen

2013-12-03 Thread Chris Plummer
Public bug reported:

1)cplummer@cplummer-dl:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 13.10
Release:13.10

2)
cplummer@cplummer-dl:~$ sudo apt-cache policy xorg
xorg:
  Installed: 1:7.7+1ubuntu6
  Candidate: 1:7.7+1ubuntu6
  Version table:
 *** 1:7.7+1ubuntu6 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I have a dual monitor set up with a Dell T5500 and an Nvidia Quadro NVS
295 graphics card. I lock the screen with a window open on the second
monitor, then unlock it again. When the desktop shows again, the
windows that were on the second screen are gone offscreen. I expected
them to still be on the second screen - I can workaround this by using
Alt+Spacebar to move the window back. This happens every time I lock
the screen, and it happens if I use the Nouveau driver or if I use the
proprietary driver.

3) I expected the windows on the second screen to stay on the screen after
unlocking the system.
4) Instead, the windows disappeared off-screen - the Unity launcher still shows
them being open, plus if I have multiple windows of an application open (i.e.
the terminal), then double click the launcher icon, then it shows me all the
windows and lets me choose one to bring forward, even the ones offscreen. When
I pick the offscreen one to bring forward, its icon just shoots offscreen again.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1224254] Re: xrandr Xerrors with the nvidia binary drivers (optimus)

2013-12-03 Thread Alberto Milone
SRU request:

Please accept gnome-desktop3 (3.4.2-0ubuntu0.2) in precise-proposed and
gnome-desktop3 (3.8.4-0ubuntu1.1) in saucy-proposed.

[Impact]
In Precise and Saucy, we support hybrid graphics, and this issue prevents users
from enabling external screens (the ones connected to the Intel card), and to
benefit from all the features that the gnome-settings-daemon provides (font
settings, input settings, theming, etc.).

[Test Case]
After installing the update, users should be able to open the Displays
configuration tool, and the gnome-settings-daemon will be running (as shown by
the ps aux | grep gnome-settings-daemon command).

[Regression Potential]
None. We simply trap and ignore an error when setting the primary output, as
the rest of the program already does when getting the primary output.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1197921] Re: LibreOffice spreadsheet causes full Xorg crash with Anti-Aliasing enabled

2013-12-03 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Ritesh, thanks for your patches! A couple of notes:
- these are security patches, so you should use release-security instead of
release-proposed
- I'm not sure if launchpad would autoclose a bug with 'lp: #1197921' in the
changelog, but that is non-conventional. You should use 'LP: #1197921' instead
- there is no patch attribution or origin in DEP-3 comments in the patch in
debian/patches
- because it is a security update, it should follow the changelog format as
described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/UpdatePreparation#Packaging.
This doesn't yet have a CVE assignment, so use CVE-- as a placeholder
- there is an extra line of whitespace in debian/changelog
- the patch is missing the test case. Looks like the patch is
5e14da97f16e421d084a9e735be21b1025150f0c and the test case
2f876cf86718d3dd9b3b04ae9552530edafe58a1

NAK in its current form, but I'll fix it up and push it out as a
security update.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1197921] Re: LibreOffice spreadsheet causes full Xorg crash with Anti-Aliasing enabled

FYI, the freedesktop.org bug is for pixman, not xorg. The xorg-server patch is
in patchwork:
http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/14769/

but has not received comment from xorg yet. The CVE request CC'd
xorg_security, but the message is in moderation.

Replace Bengali with Bangla

This is a forward of the Ubuntu bug https://launchpad.net/bugs/991002

We try to consistently use the name Bangla all over Ubuntu for the
language spoken in Bangladesh and in some Indian regions. This requires
changes to xkeyboard-config, where language names are hard coded.

We believe it would be a good idea to make this change upstream as well.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1257547] [NEW] [bcm5974] Apple touchpad fails to respond, dmesg contains multiple mesages of form: bcm5974: bad trackpad package, length: 8

2013-12-03 Thread Gerry Boland
Public bug reported:

Have Apple Macbook pro 8,1. With Trusty devel, very occasionally (i.e.
twice in the last 3 weeks) my trackpad has completely stopped
functioning for no reason I can determine.

From then on, dmesg is full of these messages:

bcm5974: bad trackpad package, length: 8

Removing and re-loading the bcm5974 kernel module fixes the problem.
Sorry I've no better information to supply.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1219446] Re: Skype video is green on Haswell

I believe this was fixed as part of https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives
/precise-changes/2013-November/020703.html
(2:2.21.6-0ubuntu4.3~precise1) - it fixed the Xv video output on my
Haswell and eg. the gstreamer-propeties test.

Like others I uninstalled xserver-xorg-video-sis to make things work in
Saucy. This is a computer for a non well versed Linux user and I am sure
I will see the coputer back when some upgrade is done. Please fix. This
has to be hurting the Ubuntu and open source reputation.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1257612] [NEW] divide by zero error in radeon_surface.c when opening chrome with WebGL enabled

2013-12-03 Thread Chris Wulff
Public bug reported:

Passing a tile_split of zero to eg_surface_init_2d causes a divide by
zero error. Launching chromium with WebGL enabled on a AMD Llano
(A8-3850) exhibits this behavior and webgl then fails to work. The
attached patch fixes the problem and allows WebGL to work in chrome on
this platform.
