[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1205643] Re: VIA P4M800 graphics broken in Lubuntu/Xubuntu Saucy Trusty
Hi to Everybody! Please, don't give up on this point. My Company has accepted my proposal to switch all computers to Lubuntu, after a test period in order to understand if all employees can use it. You can imagine, they are a little bit suspicious! So, on a total of 21 Pcs (most of them with XP... so, it's the right moment to change), I've installed on 3 desktop Pcs Saucy, and now they are working fine from one month (after another month passed to solve a problem with another graphic card - Nvidia Riva). 7 of those computers are unluckily Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo L7320 (so with the VIA P4M800), given to our salesmen. Until now, I was able -as written above- to only install Kubuntu 12.04, forcing it to use vesa drivers so with faded colors and lower resolution (although correct settings in xorg.conf file, that I effectively find in Xorg.log, except for the screen resolution that fails to set). Doing the same (poor) result with Lubuntu 13.10 seems more difficult, at least for me (I wasn't able to go after the beginning of the installation, since it freezes). I've tried to force to load Unichrome setting correct values of frequency, screen resolutions etc, but the best result I have obtained in this case is a text mode. I hope in the solution of this point, thanks in advance for your precious support! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-openchrome in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1205643 Title: VIA P4M800 graphics broken in Lubuntu/Xubuntu Saucy Trusty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-openchrome/+bug/1205643/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1081819] Re: (12.10) intermittent boot failure / black screen
Will Skibicki, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number If reproducible, could you also please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc6 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1087954] Re: GA-VM900M
amadeo, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read the How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1090786] Re: I cannot intergrate some webapp in firefox.
peter maina, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo apt-get -y install xserver-xorg-core-dbg xserver-xorg-video-intel-dbg sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and it does nothing, you may be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: gksudo gedit /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash Please follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSystemCrash when you file this crash report so the necessary information is provided. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thank you for your understanding. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1099115] [NEW] Can't change brightness while screen is locked
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch): My laptop is configured to lock the screen after X minutes. I lowered the brightness until the point there the backlight is completely off, and after X minutes I wanted to turn the screen again by using the function keys to increase the brightness, but they weren't responding. After a while I realized the screen was blocked, so I blindly type the password, pressed enter and then used the function keys to increase the brightness and it worked. I think it will be much better if one can change the brightness of the screen even if the screen is locked. I can't see any security problems in allowing that. Optionally, it would be nice if the user can set his lock screen to allow changing the sound volume and other slightly harmless activities one can do with the function or multimedia keys while the screen is locked (is a common thing in the mobile world, I think). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1098779] Re: Xorg freeze
Howard Chu, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo apt-get -y install xserver-xorg-core-dbg xserver-xorg-video-radeon-dbg xserver-xorg-video-ati-dbg sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: gksudo gedit /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash Please follow https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash when you file this crash report so the necessary information is provided. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thank you for your understanding.
