Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1246203] Re: Mouse pointer does not appear

2014-01-13 Thread Gorgonilla
The bug is still there... I'm going to try the daily live cd image as soon
as I get new batteries for my bluetooth mouse and give a feedback.

2014/1/10 Christopher M. Penalver christopher.m.penal...@gmail.com

Gorgonilla, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
 /daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

 apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-evdev REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
 would not be helpful.

 Thank you for your understanding.

 Title:
   Mouse pointer does not appear

Status in “xserver-xorg-input-evdev” package in Ubuntu:
   Incomplete

 Bug description:
It's a weird thing: I have an Apple magic mouse connected via bluetooth
to my Dell XPS 13 laptop. When gnome shell starts, the mouse pointer is is
not shown on the screen... however if a move the mouse, the pointer it is
still not shown but it actually moves... if fact if I keep moving the mouse
towards NW (that is where the top left corner of the screen is) the gnome
 shell overview mode is activated.
In order to make my mouse pointer visible, I have to touch the touchpad.
From that moment on, the mouse pointer will be visible.
It's a minor thing but it can be annoying especially if you disable the
 touchpad.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085338]

2014-01-13 Thread shankao
This is still an existing problem since a couple of years in my setup,
so I'll try to move it a bit to get it solved:

I wonder if there's any way on which this alignment could be off-by-one
in the xrandr code for this specific case. Is there any way or place
where I could have a look and try?

Thanks.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1263319] Re: Touchpad not detected on Dell XPS 13 (9333)

2014-01-13 Thread Alistair Grant
I'm seeing something similar to xian98. I have i2c_hid black listed as
described, but mostly use a mouse. After multiple suspend / wake cycles
the mouse stops working and I have to reboot.

I'm also using touchpad indicator, and I would guess from its behaviour
that some dbus messages aren't being generated (but haven't had the
opportunity to track it down properly).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1238188] Re: [HP Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor PC] No desktop effects on a radeon 3100 graphics card in saucy

2014-01-13 Thread Hans-Peter
Christopher, I've already tried this earlier in the process (tried to bisect
the kernel), but failed on it. Also I guess, bisecting is not really
necessary, because we know the point in time when the error arose. On the other
hand, in Trusty the problem is most possible solved. My plan now is, to try the
latest development release every week or so. If the issue is definitely gone,
I'll report it in this bug report. Agree?

tseliot seems to be affected too, restarting lightdm fixes it. The
xorg.log doesn't show any changes between the broken and working run,
which is why I suspect it's a greeter bug, not a xorg-server bug.

** Description changed:

  Hi,
after system upgrade to Ubuntu oneiric, my mouse and keyboard are note
working anymore. This is kind of disturbing, as I can't login. Currently my

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 875009] keyboard and mouse not working

2014-01-13 Thread Christian
Hi Christopher!

Christian, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in

It is still an issue for me. I removed the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and
after a restart, I was not able to login anymore.

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
 would not be helpful.

I did just this with the 13.10 release. Do I need to upgrade to a
development release to provide more useful information? How stable is
this, as I don't want to break my main productive machine.

Best,
Christian

2014-01-13 Thread Didier CHEVREAU
Hello,

During migration to a new Kubuntu version (12.10 to 13.04), KDE file was
corrupted : this explain why there was no desktop after boot complete. I
have erased the corrupted KDE file and after reboot I have had a default
desktop which appears.

All is working fine now. Actually, I have Kubuntu 13.10.

Many thanks for your suggestion.

Regards.

Hello Koichi, or anyone else affected,

Accepted xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-saucy into precise-proposed. The

I had no time to make the test yet, but I am now able to circustantiate
the issue: crash and freezes only occur when LibreOffice is started
opening a precedently created document! Starting from a new document -
or from the LibreOffice loader - and then opening the existent file, all
works flawlessy.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1267071] Re: JavaFX Ensemble.jar Mouse problem

2014-01-13 Thread jenskapitza
I'm developping on an older version of Linux (ubuntu current stable)
where this bug does not happen

the java version is the same (current oracle 7u45)

the only change is (intel grafik driver, xorg or gtk) couse with java
7u40 there was an other bug (xorg crashes) but this bug is not
reproduceable any longer

i don't know the interna so i can't tell you if it is X or the driver or gtk
the real problem is the overlay at applicationlevel.
but if i disable this i can't use my app (funny look - not usable any longer)
so i think it is the driver or more the x implementation which seams had
changed (compositing and overlay?)

i would do more debuging but i don't know where to start.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1253041] Re: lts-saucy enablement in precise

2014-01-13 Thread Harm van Bakel
I've tested the complete saucy-lts stack for a couple of days now, and
though everything runs quite well in general, I noticed one regression
compared to the raring-lts stack. The unity window-spread tends to
become very choppy when many windows are open, or when unity has been
running for a while. This is the case when triggering for all windows
with Super+s, or for application windows when clicking on a taskbar
icon. Interestingly, the spread animations become smooth again after
opening the dash, but this effect lasts only a few mins, which makes me
wonder whether the problem might be due to more aggressive powersaving
in the saucy stack.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1190341] [NEW] [MacBookPro10, 1] Backlight stopped working after update of linux-image with nvidia 313.30

2014-01-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am using Ubuntu 13.04, nvidia 313.30, fresh installation from scratch,
on a MacBookPro10,1 (the one with Retina display). Two of my partition
are encrypted (swap and /srv on which /home is bind mounted).Since some
upgrade to linux-image-3.8.0-24 backlight control does not work anymore.
I am stuck with 3.8.0-23 in order to get something kind of working (I
have to go in sleep mode at least once in order to get backlight control
available). The last almost working kernel is 3.8.0-23. I even tried
3.9.0-030900 upstream kernel with no success. Everything was working
fine with the first installation of 13.04.

WORKAROUND: Use nouveau.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 945670] Re: computer completely locks up after hibernate

2014-01-13 Thread Schigh Schagh
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 saucy

** Description changed:

Most times I try to resume from hibernate (S4), the computer completely
locks up a few seconds after it resumes from hibernate. Specifically
when this happens, I usually see the login screen where I can resume my
existing session. The mouse works for the first few seconds, and I can
even begin to type my password. But within seconds, the computer
entirely locks up, specifically it no longer reacts to any mouse or
  keyboard input, including Alt+SysRq+REISUB.

I suspect the ATi graphics and the Broadcom wifi chips are part of the
problem, as I believe the AMD C-60 hybrid APU is still unsupported in
Linux, and Broadcom wifi in Linux is notoriously unstable. The timing of
the lockup appears consistent with how long it might take the wifi card
to (try to) reestablish wifi connectivity.

WORKAROUND: sleep (S3) usually works fine on my system.

  ProblemType: Bug

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1268666] [NEW] Displayport monitor attached to docking station doesn't work with Haswell/Intel gfx thinkpad t440p

2014-01-13 Thread Roland Dreier

I have a Lenovo T440p laptop with a displayport monitor attached to the

doesn't light up. I see the following in kernel log (full logs with drm
debugging turned on via xdiagnose attached):

[ 116.951792] [drm:intel_dp_start_link_train] *ERROR* failed to
