[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1769322] Re: Trackpoint reacts jumpy and isn't precise when moved a short distance

2018-05-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
OK. I've heard a few complaints about Trackpoints recently so have started to
group them here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libinput/+bugs?field.tag=trackpoint

However if you want a fix then please also raise the issue with libinput
developers here:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=wayland=libinput

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752053] Re: nvidia-390 fails to boot graphical display

2018-05-08 Thread Kyle Weber
I hear Pop!_OS 18.04 doesn't have this issue. I'm unfortunately about to
give up on Ubuntu and give that a try. Some word of reassurance from the
Ubuntu team here would be nice. Where they marked this as fixed, I'm not
hopeful of a fix--at least anytime soon. If anyone has found a true and
simple workaround, please let us know! Otherwise, I think my hardware
will require me to look somewhere else...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752053] Re: nvidia-390 fails to boot graphical display

2018-05-08 Thread Symin
In my case it was... complicated.

Turns out that after upgrade to 18.04 wayland was on by default for me.
prime-select intel worked fine
prime-select nvidia gdm would not show

Changing wayland to xorg in gdm (with intel) would not work - login
screen just kept reapearing. Forcing xorg through /etc/gdm3/custom.conf
only made it worse.

In the end I have decided to try and unplug my DP cable from the
mainboard and plug it into the gfx card. This has worked. After the
reboot GDM has showed up and only xorg was available (I have switched to
xorg before I swapped the cable, though).

No reverse prime for me :( Hopefuly plymouth works with nvidia these
days or this gets fixed soon.

I have a lot of computers in my office that needs this drive to work.
Neither Nouveau or VESA works with them.
If this decision persists I will have to move to another distribution (which I

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1769907] [NEW] HDMI extended monitor has very low resolution in mirrored display mode

2018-05-08 Thread Wang Xuancong
Public bug reported:

It seems that recent versions of Ubuntu (16.04) has a bug in handling extended
HDMI monitors. The HDMI monitor has up to 1980x1080 resolution, my laptop has
up to 1366x768 resolution. Both screens have native 16:9 ratio.
However, in "mirrored display" mode, I can only select 1024x768 and 800x600
resolution as shown in the image attached.

In such mode, my laptop screen has two blank strip on the left and right
side. On the HDMI monitor, it shows a squashed screen (1024x768
resolution stretched to 16:9 full screen).

I have temporarily developed a workaround, see
https://xuancong84.blogspot.sg/2018/05/ubuntu-hdmi-extended-monitor-
low.html , but I still hope the bug can be solved.

Thank you very much!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1769322] Re: Trackpoint reacts jumpy and isn't precise when moved a short distance

2018-05-08 Thread klinge
thanks for the hint. I installed the newest version of libinput-bin
"libinput-bin_1.10.6-1_amd64.deb" and the behavior did inprove but it
does still not work flawlessly. The cursor still jumps somethimes
especially if moved a short distance.

Did I miss something or could it be, that the prior fideling about with
config files has an effect on the outcome? I tried to reverse all the
changes (but of course it is possible, that i forgot something) Any
possibility to figure out what I missed?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1769819] Re: Xorg crashes after system sleep / wakeup

2018-05-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It's at the top of bug 994921.

Additionally, or alternatively please uncomment this option from
/etc/gdm3/custom.conf:

# Additionally lets the X server dump core if it crashes
#Enable=true

and reboot.

can you be more specific about the workaround. I read but 994921, but
didn't find a clear reference as to what would need to be done

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1769822] [NEW] VGA Resolution Detect with KVM

2018-05-08 Thread David Noel
Public bug reported:

Detects fine with direct connect, but when through kvm (works fine with
windows) will not detect proper resolution.

Log files should show:

1. Boot with KVM attached.

2. Plug monitor direct to motherboard (bypass) - old resolution for
instant, then change to proper resolution.

3. Swap back to monitor with KVM - Ok for instant, then blank and back
to low resolution.

KVM model is kvm 41ua - purchased from ebay.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1769819] Re: Xorg crashes after system sleep / wakeup

2018-05-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
In order to debug a crash we will need a crash report. To create one,
please:

1. Apply the workaround from bug 994921.

2. Reproduce the crash.

3. Look in /var/crash for crash files and when found, run:
   ubuntu-bug /var/crash/YOURFILE.crash

4. Add a comment here telling us the ID of the new bug that was created
in step 3.
