[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1774447] Re: Approx. 50% of tap to clicks does not work since upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04

2018-05-31 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Does the problem only occur with the touchpad, and never with a mouse?

If it's occurring with a mouse too, the see these:

Annoyingly, around 50 reports of the crash on bionic is still not enough
for it to make it into the top 100 xorg-server crashes on bionic. So not
easy to find.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1758306] Re: Cannot switch mouse primary button to Right (left-handed) in Settings

2018-05-31 Thread Trish1274
After poking around Google to find a solution, I came here, and I'm
still stumped. I just upgraded to 18.04 last night, and I tried GCC to
swap my mouse/touchpad buttons back to lefty-normal, and that failed. So
I went to the terminal. "gsettings get
org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.mouse left-handed" comes back with "true".

I saw someone say that there was an update that fixed this, but I've
checked for updates after upgrading, and the only update was for the
Chrome browser. Nothing mouse-related, and my buttons still aren't
right.

Any ideas? This is a major PITA for a lefty who uses these buttons all
the time. Thank goodness it's not my work laptop (can't convince the
office to ditch Windows), but it's still a big problem. In fact, I am
writing this on my work laptop because I kept hitting the wrong button
on my personal one. It's putting me at a bit of a handicap.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1758306] Re: Cannot switch mouse primary button to Right (left-handed) in Settings

2018-05-31 Thread Trish1274
Actually, I just tried plugging in my office wireless mouse into the
personal laptop, and the buttons work fine on that. So it's JUST the
buttons with the track pad. In every previous version of Ubuntu I've
used, I've always just changed the touchpad buttons through GCC under
the mouse settings. Is there another way to change settings for the
touchpad?

If it helps, my personal laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad 300.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1772189] Re: Pointer is erratic without disabling the libinput Acceleration Profile

2018-05-31 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
After a clean reinstall of 18.04 this issue still exists. I did notice
something else though. The default settings are usable but they become
unusable with higher pointer speeds in settings. I end up preferring
disabling the acceleration and setting the pointer speed to maximum
although I'd probably like even a bit more speed.

Public bug reported:

Since upgrade from Ubuntu 17.10 to Ubuntu 18.04 I have issues with tap

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1774433] [NEW] Display on Toshiba S75-A7334 stays black

2018-05-31 Thread Al Marcenkus
Public bug reported:

When I open my notebook computer, Toshiba S75-A7334 (on Windows 10), the
screen remains black, unless I repeatedly open and close the lid. This
is terribly frustrating. I have been dealing with this for years.
Nothing I have tried has worked. I am new to this website, so I'm not
sure I am following your proper procedures. I am an average computer
user that does not write code. Any help is greatly appreciated.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1760104] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV

2018-05-31 Thread Jamie Strandboge
So, the pauses I am experiencing is likely due to simply the fact that
the keyboards and mice are being removed then added back, which is a
different issue than the crashes (which appear nvidia related). I will
likely create a PR to only trigger the input subsystem on an as-needed
base to reduce the annoying pauses we see during refreshes.

Alan reported back on irc that the for loop did *not* trigger the crash
which is good for snapd. Looking at the error reports, both are in the
/usr/lib/xorg/Xorg binary:

*
https://errors.ubuntu.com/bucket/?id=/usr/lib/xorg/Xorg%3A11%3Axf86ReadInput%3AInputReady%3Aospoll_wait%3AInputThreadDoWork%3Astart_thread
*
https://errors.ubuntu.com/bucket/?id=/usr/lib/xorg/Xorg%3A11%3Amain_arena%3AInputReady%3Aospoll_wait%3AInputThreadDoWork%3Astart_thread

which have numerous reports. I'm going to mark the 'snapd' task as
invalid since while it may aggravate the issue, Xorg is clearly the
problem.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752938] Re: Upgrading Ubuntu 18.04 disables GPU hardware acceleration

2018-05-31 Thread Rocko
I had this problem, too. journalctl -b|grep glamor showed this:

/usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-x-session[2205]: (EE) modeset(0): glamor
initialization failed

which is why gnome-shell was falling back to llvmpipe. However, there
was some funny business going on with my libGL installation, because ldd
/usr/bin/glxinfo showed:

libGL.so.1 => /usr/local/lib/libGL.so.1 (0x7fe67e633000)
libGLX.so.0 => /usr/local/lib/libGLX.so.0 (0x7fe67dccd000)
libGLdispatch.so.0 => /usr/local/lib/libGLdispatch.so.0
(0x7fe67da16000)

meaning I must have manually built and installed versions of libGL/X at
some point. I deleted the libGL/X libraries and the xorg folder from
/usr/local/lib and after a reboot I now have intel mesa graphics again.
