[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 188308] Re: colemak is broken

This is only marked as invalid in gnome-do. It seems to be a confirmed bug in xkeyboard-config. -- colemak is broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188308 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 188308] Re: colemak is broken
Is this really a bug in xkeyboard-config, the keyboard configuration files? I don't think so. The layout works fine if used as the default and only layout in gnome-keyboard-properties (except for the issue that the key doesn't repeat). The problem occurs if trying to switch between layouts in gnome- keyboard-properties...the caps lock behaviour is not properly set in this situation. I find that if I start off with colemak as the default and switch to a standard layout using the applet then the colemak caps lock behaviour (as backspace) persists. If however I start off with a standard layout and switch to colemak I get the strange bug where the caps lock key is both caps lock and backspace at the same time. Perhaps this is a bug in gnome-keyboard-properties.
My main problem now is that colemak isn't in the keyboard options on the LiveCD keyboard menu, so I can't change layout until I boot it up, which takes longer.

** Description changed: Description revised Aug 22, 2008. - The colemak layout includes a mapping for key 66, which is the Wrong Way to add the backspace caps lock key behavior. - This mapping should be removed from the colemak layout and a backspace caps behavior should be added to gnome, KDE, and xfce. - While it would be nice if the colemak layout would default to this caps lock behavior, it's not crucial, as it's easy enough to just change it. - It is possible that backspace would be the first caps lock behavior to require repeat. + The Colemak design includes a mapping of the key 66, which is the wrong year to add the fifth block of Maya sculas backspace behavior. + This mapping should be removed from the provision of and backward caps colemak a behavior, you must ADIRS year Gnome, KDE and Xfce. + Although would be nice if the colemak design or default to this behavior blocking caps lock is not essential, as it is fairly easy to change it. + It is possible that the reverse will be the first block of caps lock to require repeat the behavior. + + (sorry for my english) -- colemak is broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188308 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
