[UC] Floor Sanding recommendation needed

2008-08-22 Thread Margie Politzer
Hello all,

I need to have a small room's floor sanded by the end of next week! I have
had difficulty getting A-1 Flooring over here to even look at the floor.
Anyone have any other recommendations? All I need done is the sanding; I can
do the polyurethane and quarter-rounds myself.

(This was asked recently by another neighbor, but without much response.)

Thanks,
Margie

[UC] Speaker's corner

2008-08-22 Thread Glenn moyer
Hey Susan,

Congrats on your upcoming trip to civilization! During my daily blessing of
the animals, I asked the gods and goddesses to watch over your hellcat. Who
needs an animal shrink when a pagan blessing is available?

You'll be near to one of my favorite places on the planet, Speaker's Corner in
Hyde park. If you find yourself wandering nearby, say a little prayer for us
in the colonies from that holy spot.

Some of us would like to renew the revolution and bring representative
democracy to the oppressed colonials.

Bon voyage,
Glenn

Re: [UC] Floor Sanding recommendation needed

2008-08-22 Thread pmuyehara

 Margie,
From my own archives of past advice:

5/06 Actually, Jonathan, I have used Henry's Flooring, and I am about to use
them again. He was quick (in calling me back and in scheduling an appointment),
inexpensive and did a great job! A rarity to find all three. We had an office
party a month after it was done, and some girl who didn't care, left scuff
marks all over my new floor. She should have been shot, but I refrain from
violence when I can (considering your last recent encounter).
?
Henry's Flooring: 856-663-4966 or his cell 856-308-3819
?
Hope this helps, or if you want to come by and look at his work you are welcome
to stop by! I have photos of him working too!
?

Dan Myers

This is the only other listing I came across other than A-1.

Paul

RE: [UC] Beware UPS... Again

2008-08-22 Thread naomifior

I'm sorry about your phone but I do agree with Suzanne. Across the
board, we have had very good experiences with UPS. I work for a mail
order company and we ship 10,000s of packages of perishable food. UPS
consistantly gets our packages there accurately and on-time better than
any other carrier (FedEx, DHL, and USPS - don't even get me started on
USPS). We watch the numbers very closely and, with gas prices what they
are, are constantly shopping around but keep coming back to UPS because
they are the ones that get it done right.

UPS' policy is they will only leave a package if there have been low or
no instinces of theft of UPS packages in the area and the driver feels
it is reasonably secure to do so. The fact that they did leave the
package says that your block is not on their do not leave list - i.e.
it is deemed safe by UPS.

You can request that any UPS packages that you are expecting be left in
a specific area or left with a neighbor, be rerouted to a different
address (which will cost the shipper $), or be held at a UPS facility
for you to pick up by leaving a note on your door. UPS is generally
quite good at special requests and drivers, as Suzanne mentioned, tend
to know their routes and the people on them well. A call to the 800#
will be able to send a message to the driver on your route with a
special request, as well.

I know all of this doesn't help bring your package back but hopefully it
will help for future deliveries.

Fortunately, the phone only works if you enter a passcode. Piccell is
sending
another one to my office at Temple, hopefully to arrive before next
Friday.

DONT use UPS.

Thank you.

I considered having it sent to my husband¹s office, but since it was
supposed to be a birthday surprise, I didn¹t.
