Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Can't play WMA files, tried everything
WMA files should play natively on the SB3 so you should get a log with player.source and formats.audio set to DEBUG. Are you using bit rate limiting ? Are you trying to sync with a player which does not support WMA natively ? AlienBBC support for WMA on SB3 players will be used if you disabled the Windows media Native setting in WebUI Settings/Advanced/Filetypes and so force SC to use transcoding and mplayer. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68423 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] debian upgrade to 7.4
haha. apt-get squeezeboxserver is the new thing. For me: - it has installed next to SC, - plugins were not migrated, neither any prefs (I did my 1st install w/ beta. I believe players prefs will carry on to SBS). For server prefs, I'd like to hear others but I think they are not migrated. - it starts and kill instances before launching. But my /etc/rc2.d/ still had S20squeezecenter. On another machine I had S90squeezecenter (due to the DNS bug in 7.3.3). So I removed the squeezecenter start link(s) manually. - the web interface seems much faster now. Migrating plugin prefs is a bit of a pita because some are only available when a player is declared to the server. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 7.4 = Trainwreck
Very odd stuff. I was using the sudo command, but had to truly root myself to delete some weird files that had ended in a wrong directory. I purged everything (some manually) and then installed 7.4 from scratch. Which now, not surprisingly, seems to work. The fact the SB3s were not able to connect to Squeezenetwork while all this was going on did not improve my mood, the new SN was unaware of them without the new firmware. And there were some odd struggles getting all players on SN, since at times they'd ask me to enter my account into locally (like I want to do that with a SBoom remote...) even though after some navigating back and forth (and unpowering) they'd pick things up. So I am watching this a bit suspiciously. I like the new skin on the controller very much, but other than that don't see what's so different about 7.4... -- pablolie ...pablo Server: Shuttle X27 - Ubuntu 8.04 - SBS 7.4 (kind of) Sources: SB3 (3), SB Boom (3), Duet, Accuphase DP65v CD Amplifier: Accuphase E306v Loudspeakers: Ceeroy 3-way tower (tuned) Headphones: Grado SR-1 pablolie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68430 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 7.4 upgrade for Ubuntu - Wishful thinking?
I'm not from Logitech, but I've been running 7.4 on Ubuntu for several months now. In Ubuntu (and probably other *nix OSs) the change in the program name from squeezecenter to squeezeboxserver affects the location of files and the username under which SbS runs. I have no insider info, but I would guess that if transfer of prefs and plugins wasn't included in the 7.4 upgrade (and it wasn't), you're very unlikely to see it in a subsequent upgrade that will probably assume you're on the same squeezeboxserver page as everyone else. So I'd go ahead and update now. To try to avoid some hassles I'd recommend the following: 1. back up your prefs folder (/var/lib/squeezecenter/prefs). You could also backup you plugins folder (/var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins/) but I wouldn't bother because of the changes in the Extension Downloader (a very nice improvement that many of those whingeing about the upgrade don't seem to have noticed...). Remember to stop SC before making the backup. 2. purge squeezecenter and install squeezeboxserver, as per the Debian install instructions on the wiki page (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Debian_Package) 3. use the new plugins interface to install all your old plugins 4. stop squeezeboxserver, and copy your backed up prefs folder from 7.3.3 (including plugin prefs) over top of the default for 7.4 5. restart SbS. If that doesn't work, then you'll be stuck with re-entering your settings manually. It's a drag, especially if you have a lot of SBs, but you don't have to do it that often.
