You probably need to stop the squeezelite service or set it to use a different mac address via the -m option. Thanks again Adrian for following up on this. I am also a step further - but the whole thing is like peeling an onion: There is always a next layer of problems 1) I got Squeezeplay and Squeezelite working alongsite. The fix was not the MAC address problem - I had squeezelite already running using the -m option The fix was as you suggsted to not start squeezelite as a service during startup, but manually start it after the OS boot process is finished. When starting it as a service via rc.local, then jive-alsa seems to get killed or never starts and that makes Squeezeplay not playing audio any more. 2) The original Problem is still there: I can not get the NPR WMA stream to play natively. Try it and see is all I can offer, from my own experience, the HiFiBerry Digi is very good, the IQaudIO dac very good, and using a couple of USB dacs with SqueezePlug and piCorePlayer, the only real difference was the connectivity (dac drivers included in the respective kernels). I have also used a cubox base player with both usb and spdif outlets. Can't say that any one, is really better than the other, sometimes I think the only difference is in the mood/demeanour of the listener.:p Glad your sorted. atb Ronnie. It varies but to be honest any differences are going to be below the threshold of human hearing so not worth worrying about :) I'm getting a HifiBerry Digi+ just because it's an easier connection to my AVR. I'd use HDMI if my amp was new enough but it doesn't have it so I'm using the line out at the moment. Apart from the level being lower than the line out from a SB3 it sounds fine to me.
