If anyone is interested.

I got it working with a 20x4 HD44780 with a I2C Backpack (You will need

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 2.00

2017-05-29 Thread Mr.Stocksn

Hey! I have a Raspberry Pi 3 with IQaudIO Amp+ card and 7" touch
display, running piCorePlayer.

First problem: In the Screen settings (on the touch display) I have set
the display to turn off when the player is stopped. But it won’t. It
can show a blank screen, but it won’t turn off. There’s always light.

Second problem: After every restart the system doesn’t remember my
screen settings at all and I have to set them from new.

If I want to adjust the Display backlight brightness in the PiCorePlayer
settings it says "No official Raspberry Pi display detected", but (as
far as I know) it is the original display.
Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks in advance!
Matthias

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: Slimmer

2017-05-29 Thread tbali

There is a new release of Slimmer and its bundle. The changes are:

- 2 line screens are supported. First line is the same as with 4 line
displays, but if there is not enough room, the duration is omitted.
The second line is Artist: Album - Title and Artist: Title [Remote
title/Radio name] for remote streams (radio). Volume, menu and error
screens are also adapting to the screen size automatically.
- Scrolling speed command line parameter added. Value 1 is the
  fastest.
- On previous action the current track is restarted if it is played
for more than 3 secs (instead of starting previous track).
- If the playing queue is empty a popup is shown in the menu when
trying to enter the Playing Queue or when the last item is deleted
  from the queue.
- Key repeats handled for left and right keys (volume setting and menu
browsing). This makes using a LIRC remote or physical buttons (instead
  of a rotary encoder) smooth.
- Artists menu item name is changed to All Artists if server version
  is at least 7.9.0
- Added browsing by Album Artists (if the server supports it)
- Artists were not shown up in the menu with LMS 7.9
- The bundled LCDd is updated to the latest version (trunk
  2017-05-29).

Grab it from: https://github.com/terba/slimmer/releases/latest

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried that and still get (loud) pops.

The pops are reproducible (if I repeat the track sequence, they happen

Is there a diagnostic that would be helpful?

[SlimDevices: Unix] PiCoreplayer+Jivelite Sound Issue

2017-05-29 Thread Just_Colin

Hello,

I use PiCorePlayer 3.20 on a Pi2 + 7 Touchscreen Display, with a
Woo WA7 as USB DAC. This plays perfectly glitch-free up to 24/192 except
when I enable Jivelite, then i get audio "pops" every few seconds even
with 16/48 files. When I disable Jivelite and reboot all is perfect
again.

Squeezelite settings are OUTPUT="front:CARD=WooAudio,DEV=0",
ALSA_PARAMS="80:4::1:". Everything else is standard. LMS is running on a
QNAP NAS.

Code:

cat /proc/asound/cards
  0 [ALSA ]: bcm2835 - bcm2835 ALSA
  bcm2835 ALSA
  1 [WooAudio ]: USB-Audio - WooAudio
XMOS WooAudio at usb-3f98.usb-1.4, high speed

Any idea why this is, or what I can do to fault-find it?

Brilliant, I look forward to it :)
Using a I2C only 2 GPIO pins are used, so much cleaner and easier to
wire up and leaves the rest of the GPIO pins for other things.

This improvement is already the part of the new (official) lcdproc
repository here:

I already compiled that for the Pi some weeks ago. I will publish that

I use previous versions of pCP with the same router settins without any
issues...
One new thing is a new wifi usb stick TL-WN725N ver2.0 (recognised by
pCP as r8188eu). It works fine in the wifi subnet.
Unfortunately previous wifi dongle (ralink MT7601U) was damaged so I
can't compare with others wifi usb cards at the moment.

I have never really understood upsampling, however a quick search
brought up this post -

paul- & Greg, perhaps the recipe help could be expanded to include some
of this?
