[SlimDevices: Unix] Transporter clicking on/off with picoreplayer

2018-02-03 Thread rlc999

I have an issue that I'm looking for some advice on. I recently
configued an RPi with picoreplayer running LMS. I have a Transporter
that I use with this setup. I just did this, so versions are current
(picoreplayer is 3.22; I believe that's LMS 7.9.1; and it's an RPi 3).

Everything operates well, except that, when I turn the Transporter off,
I can hear and see it click very quickly on and off. This occurs maybe
every couple minutes or so. The RPi and picoreplayer are "on" of
course. I've not assumed or planned to shutdown the RPi when I'm not
using it. I can't think of or find a setting anywhere that might get
this behavior to stop.

any suggestions?

The remote control should be similar to mine. is there a possibility
something to config?
I just want to try it.

Picoreplayer v3.21 and newer supports the 'JustBoom USB Smart Remote'

[SlimDevices: Unix] Bringing back the SB's ethernet bridging feature on a Pi 3...

2018-02-03 Thread epoch1970

Remember when your SB player could channel LAN access from wifi over to
its ethernet port?

Recently I needed a Pi3 that would drop in any LAN and start OpenVPN
bridging with a remote server. The server used an anonymous bridge to
prevent any risk of subnet clash. The Pi3 client was running piCore (was
it v. 9.0.3?)

Over at the Raspberry Pi forums there are waves of people wanting to
bridge their LAN through a Pi 3 connected over wifi. Tired of endlessly
repeating "you can't do that", I decided to 'post a setup'
(https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36=204361) that
would make use of an anonymous bridge and OpenVPN to tunnel an L2 bridge
over the wifi link.
In other words, a virtual 2-port switch: one port plugged to the main
LAN, the other plugged to a remote physical segment, and a wifi client
connection as switching fabric (ouch!)

The setup I posted uses Raspbian on the Pi, but I know for a fact it
works with piCore, hence piCorePlayer. For the server side I believe any
platform capable of bridging and running OpenVPN will do, e.g. your LMS
server machine. While testing for robustness and latency I did put an
SB3 behind the Pi and sync it with other LAN players. That worked nicely
indeed, thanks to LMS and slimproto.
On the Pi the openvpn process uses little CPU, system load averages to
0.7 under heavy use (multiple video streams+music).
So perhaps this setup could be of use to some here.

And if you're thinking "Now, why would I do that?", let me just say it's
one of those things: if you have to ask, it's not for you. I'm not doing
that either ;)

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20

2018-02-03 Thread KemloKid

I hope I've posted this in the right place and that I've given enough
information for someone to help.
I have a Pi Zero (no on-board wi-fi) with iqaudio dac and iqaudio
headphone boards attached. I have similar set ups using Pi 2 & 3's
running PiCorePlayer which are working well. For the initial set up of
these systems I used an ethernet connection and then changed to wireless
connection using the Pi Core player web interface. My problem with the
Pi Zero is that I cannot enable the wireless connection. I've looked at
the PiCorePlayer instructions and have created a newconfig.cfg with
just the my wi-fi details. I created this file on a Windows 10 PC and
added the file to the Pi Zero SD card (which has latest PiCorePlayer
image). When I power up the system the boot up process runs with no
obvious glaring errors then near the end a message "trying to mount
/dev/mmcblk0P1" followed by "newconfig.cfg not found on mmcblk0P1"
appears and subsequently the bootup fails to find the network and ends
by synchronizing the time. At that point I cannot access the PiZero with
the esync wireless keyboard/mouse I have attached - there is no sign of
a pointer on the screen and no command line to type into if there was. I
have a PiHut usb wi-fi dongle attached to the Pi Zero. I've used the
keyboard and wi-fi dongles on my other Pi's with no problem

Thanks, I'll try to upgrade!
