Ok, thnx. Probably there is an elegant way of doing that so that lms is
happy with it.

I used the Resize partition function - as per the link in my post.
I would add that LMS was unhappy afterwards with errors like the below
in the log:

[19-04-16 10:10:31.8259] Slim::Web::Template::SkinManager::_fillTemplate
(337) Error: file error - failed to create compiled templates directory:
/usr/local/slimserver/Cache/templates (mkdir
/usr/local/slimserver/Cache: File exists at
/usr/local/slimserver/lib/Template/Provider.pm line 863.

Deleting prefs & cache didn't fix them so I ended up removing and
reinstalling LMS.

How did you expand it to 1000mb?

https://www.picoreplayer.org/how_to_install_lms.shtml suggested 300MB so
I thought it couldn't be that much bigger than that. Plus I guessed that
if I expanded the filsystem to fill the card then it might not be usable
for anything else. Though as it's the start of my experience of PCP, RPi
etc. I don't know what that else could be. But I do know in general it's
harder to shrink filesystems than expand them! ;-)

In case it helps anyone, I ended up having to expand the filesystem to
1000MB to cope with the library scan.

Code:

FilesystemSize Used Available Use% Mounted on
  /dev/mmcblk0p2 964.4M650.8M269.4M 71% /mnt/mmcblk0p2

I'm impressed with the speed - it took just over 3h to scan around 110k
tracks, when my Celeron J3455 server does it in just over 2h.
