Well it does using my HDMI port on my TV. In the past this has been an adequate test. We have defaulted to "b1". Now come the complications: If you unplug your HDMI device it disappears from ALSA. Makes sense but I think this behaviour changed going from pCP6 to pCP7. Some RPi's now have 2 HDMI ports, named "HDMI0" and "HDMI1". In ALSA these line up with "b1 - HDMI1" and "b2 - HDMI2". Notice 0 becomes 1 and 1 becomes 2, clever. I have found some dual RPi HDMI ports don't work. The default MMAP settings broke the audio output in some circumstances (for Headphones too) in pCP7. Should be fixed in pCP8. Then yesterday we found the separation of audio and visual. In the past if audio worked, jivelite worked. We might have just been lucky for the past 6 or 7 years with this assumption. We are just gradually working through these issues in pCP7 and pCP8. regards Greg Greg Erskine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7403 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103330 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 8.0.0
Yeah, highly likely. For many years we have been able to have mmap default to 1. On recent builds, we have found situations where mmap has to be 0. We have been adjusting defaults. There is a chance that the upgrade process does not pick up the change. Hi christi_ko, I upgraded my 3.5" TFT with RPi3B yesterday to pCP8.0.0. I appears to function correctly. It has been running pCP8.0.0 betas for months. I following these instructions "'Add a 3.5 inch display' (https://docs.picoreplayer.org/projects/add-a-display/)". YMMV. I would suggest trying a different screen overlay and/or adjusting the speed. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Advice for new player hardware
Im running various pCP versions on various different Pis. The highest spec one is a Pi4 with a Khadas Tone Board (v1) both in decent hi spec cases which happen to match really well. The Khadas Tone Board is a USB DAC. I have another - a Pi3 - using a lower grade USB DAC. My advice would be try a USB DAC. They start at a couple of £ and go up to hundreds of £ so its easy to upgrade. In my view easier than a HAT - largely due to the fact that most require different cases. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
Here is the skinny By default when you select HDMI on the squeezelite page, pCP is going to prepopulate the "output" field with the device "b1" There are many cases where the default choice of B1 is not going to work, just manually select one of the others -RPI4 has "b1" and "b2" ports due to dual HDMI -When you load the vc4 driver with audio, the output "B1" and "B2" will get disabled, and your outputs are now going to be vc4-hdmi Just manually pick the output on the squeezelite page and press save. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Now I'm trying to configure gpio-shutdown (and shutdown-monitor) - however, grounding the corresponding GPIO only switches squeezelite to "off", but does not trigger the sytem shutdown required for LMS. Could it be that shutdown-monitor is no longer working with the new kernel? Manually starting shutdown-monitor.armhf (via ssh) gives the followin error: CANNOT OPEN /DEV/INPUT/BY-PATH/PLATFORM-SOC:SHUTDOWN_BUTTON-EVENT: NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY  INDEED, THERE IS NOT SUCH A DEVICE, BUT ONLY A SIMILAR FILE: /DEV/INPUT/BY-PATH/PLATFORM-SOC:SHUTDOWN_BUTTON@C-EVENT After creating a symlink in /dev/input/by-path/ (sudo ln -s platform-soc\:shutdown_button@c-event platform-soc\:shutdown_button-event) shutdown-monitor.armhf was both able to start and to properly react to the GPIO event. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Getting HDMI CEC to work on pCP 7.0
Good news ... it works on pCP 8 The steps to follow are largley the same as I documented earlier in the thread - but I will write them again in the pCP 8 thread later on. Same limitations apply - mainly the only keys that are mapped are cursors 9and maybe one or two others) - but in particular not the OK/Enter. Navigating the "HD Skin" with just up/down/left/right is manageable. I did 4 "in situ" installations on 3 players and one server. No problems. Before the player update i removed the @soundcheck sKit and after update i installed it again. After the update on pCP LMS server i had to update the LMS binaries and libraries manually. IMHO pCP 8.0 sounds better, than 7.01 :) Thank you so much for this great piece of software ! :) :) :) praganj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41091 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114828 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Auto WAP
hi siod, I can see what your use case is, slightly different to my initial thought. I wanted WPA to automatically activate if there was no wired ethernet and no wifi available, but we decided that the extensions required to be loaded to achieve this was to much to include in a basic distribution. So WPA was added later but it is manually activated and the above feature was not implemented. Your best option would be one of the large distributions if this feature is already available. regards Greg Greg Erskine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7403 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114841 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

So as far as I understand: I cannot use both. So when I am connected to a known WIFI everything is fine. So now I move to an unknown WIFI and I have no WIFI connection anymore, I have no chance to get into the piCore setup menu to activate WAP. So in this moment WAP should activate itself so a user can configure a new WIFI connection. I hope you understand what I want to achieve. I know I can configure multiple WIFI Networks I must know them before I move to them and Password changes must be configured each time before moving to those locations. siod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71920 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114841 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

hi siod, Refer to Components > "'Wifi' (https://docs.picoreplayer.org/components/wifi/)" Code: Wifi AP # We have decided not to activate a Wifi Access Point (WAP) by default. piCorePlayer is based on piCore which is a minimal Linux distribution. We follow this philosophy. We let the user add the various components to an initial very small distribution. These "little extra features" end up adding lots of dependencies, often increasing the size of the original distribution by 30% to 100%. piCorePlayer 32bit distribution contains just enough to get a basic squeezelite player going on all Raspberry Pi's.
