Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] LInux client (controller) currently maintained
Does the SqueezePlay controller have control over only the local player, or any on the network? SqueezePlay is the software initially created to run on Controller/Radio/Touch. But it's available for desktop computers, too. As its name says it's a player. But it can also be used to control any other player. Its first use was in the Controller - which didn't even have a player built in by default. JiveLite is a derivate of Squeezeplay, with the player part removed and some parts updated. It's a controller only. The Material skin has been mentioned before. You can run it standalone, as outlined, too, without the browser. Very much like any app run in Electron (which you considered "native"). ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Radio stations url source/radio-browser project
Thanks for reply, very informative. The issue here in the UK is that unfortunately every app removes the ability to listen to any radio feed outside the UK as it matures: this is true for Tunein, myTuner, and just last week the wonderful RadioGarden, and has successively ruined every app I've ever used in the UK. It's a farcical situation, and I haven't got the heart to look into it, but some legislation here clearly mandates us British people must only listen to British radio. Ridiculous, but I'll spare my breath! So as it stands any companion app that LMS uses will also block any station outside the UK, or if it doesn't now, it will tomorrow. Radio-Browser on the other hand is of course only a directory of URLs so breaks no regulations one assumes, and the streams are fully accessible. My recollection of trying it some time ago was similar to yours but it's vastly improved now: I've today compiled a list of about 200 very eclectic stations from it and not one is problematic. They poll URLs at least once a day to check them and updates now seem very quick. It's also hugely comprehensive and beats any of the commercial apps for stations by far. Aside from, the problems UK listeners face, it would seem to me to be a vastly superior repository for PiCorePlayer radio rather than the competing and incomplete commercial apps. Which of course leaves the problem that no one has developed a way to use it in LMS, as you say. SqueezePlay, which I recommended (but without proper capitalization) is, as you said, a desktop player application. I THINK (but am not certain, so I hope more knowledgeable users will either correct or confirm what I say here) that SqueezePlay thoroughly emulates the interface of some Squeezebox players, including the ability to switch it to control a different Squeezebox player on the same network. In other words, if I am right about this, it is a player, but you do not have to use it as a player. You may use it as a standalone controller. You will have the overhead of having some extra components installed, which you will not be using. But it should function exactly as you want. The Material Skin is excellent, can be made to "look and feel" just like a native Linux app easily enough. The O2 Joggler is X86 running Linux. The source code for Jivelite is available. There is a lengthy thread about building Jivelite for Joggler. This might be a good starting point https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?110040-Jivelite-on-a-Joggler&p=932520&viewfull=1#post932520 As stated in a few posts in this tread - Jivelite is a controller (not a player ... SqueezePlay is a player with, in essence, Jivelite built in as the front end). Jivelite can be used to control any player on any system that is connected to LMS. hi brainchild, Like Ronnie, I am a bit slow as well. As Squeeze/LMS is a very mature product it has hundreds (thousands?) of options, with lots of confusing names. LMS has had 3 or 4 different names. For control on any computer with a browser I would use the LMS GUI with the "material" skin plugin. Jivelite on all the devices I use, can control any player on the network, not just the one it is loaded on. Generally, whatever you can think of has probably been done, and probably over 10 years ago. regards Greg Greg Erskine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7403 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116934 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Radio stations url source/radio-browser project
The radio station search provided by default within LMS is proided by Tune-in (www.tunein.com). It is a commercial service. Many stations are listed by aggregators which have a commercial arrangement with the stations. There are a number of 3rd party plugins which, when installed, provides access to radio stataions - Plugins such as iHeartRadio, RadioNet, Global Player, Radio France, Virgin Radio, UK radio Player.. There is an app UK & Ireland Radio feeds (use mysqueezebox, com) to access "UK Radiofeeds lists. Re radio-browser - the same question has been asked many time on the forum but it seems nobody has felt the need to develop a plugin. In the past I checked out radio-browser and thought the quality of the contents a bit of hit amd miss - many station are badly classified or URL is out of date. Stations URLs often change, so using an "official" aggregator as source often ensures playability. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116940 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Im having trouble finding many of the radio stations I enjoy in PiCorePlayer. Where does it cut its source of URL radio station matchings from? Is it a database which it would be possible to update ourselves? Im not suggesting we all keep our individual list of URLs which can get very tiresome when you are interested in hundreds of stations. Im asking if theres a central resource we can update together. It seems to me that it would be sensible to use the public domain RadioBrowser database https://www.radio-browser.info/ - its widely used by other apps, very comprehensive, fully free in all senses and you can even add your own stations. This also has a very significant advantage, particularly in the UK where they blindly block access to all international radio station through conventional apps. Paul Webster author of \"now playing\" plugins covering radio france (fip etc), planetradio (bauer - kiss, absolute, scala, jazzfm etc), kcrw, abc australia and cbc/radio-canada and, via the extra \"radio now playing\" plugin lots more - see https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?115201-announce-radio-now-playing-plugin Paul Webster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=105 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116938 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

I believe what you are describing is largely the same as I have done in the past for some applications using the Webapp Manager, available in Linux Mint. However, a native application (even one based on Electron or Flutter) is preferred when available. It seems Logitech had supported only Windows and MacOS officially for desktop front ends. I wondered whether any projects were actively maintained by the community to extend such support to Linux users. brainchild's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=73088 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116934 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

LMS with the UPnP Bridge. Any Sonos device will show up as a UPnP renderer. piCorePlayer may be the simplest way to set up LMS. Jivelite will provide the touchscreen capability. piTouch w/JustBoom DigiHat -> RME ADI-2 DAC FS -> JBL 305P MkII monitors; LMS 8.2 on piCorePlayer/Pi 4; Material Skin. chicks's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71798 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116938 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

[SlimDevices: Unix] Fancied a change so moved server to spare Pi2 powered by router
For years i had everything plugged in and running from a single Pi which worked great but the other week i moved hard drive to router which was then shared to the main Pi which then shared music to other players but the other day i fancied a change so setup a Pi2 to run headless as just a LMS server to the other players As Pi2 doesn't need to use as much power as say a Pi3 or 4 it's powered from the USB on my Netgear r7800 running OpenWRT and so far it's working great and it's handy that i don't need to have my main Pi3 on which is plugged into Hi-Fi on so other players can access music library testing until i have a tidy up with leads ps i hate that Netgear put USB sockets on the side  38896 +---+ |Filename: 3.jpg| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=38896| +---+ Eyerex's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65695 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116937 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] LInux client (controller) currently maintained
I know you seem to be explicitly asking for a native app, but I use Material Skin as a web-app on my KDE/Plasma desktop. I've written a (very) simple QWebEngine wrapper app that I use. (Previously used Chrome but this keeps breaking). To use this integrated into Plasma's taskbar/kickoff you just need a simple .desktop file - I have /usr/local/share/applications/LMS.desktop with: Code: [Desktop Entry] Version=1.0 Name=LMS Comment=Logitech Media Server Exec=/usr/local/bin/qwebappwrapper --dark --qwindowtitle LMS --qwindowicon /usr/local/share/qwebappwrapper/icons/lms.svg --appname LMS http://pi4:9000/material/?altBtnLayout=true Terminal=false Type=Application Icon=/usr/local/share/qwebappwrapper/icons/lms.svg StartupWMClass=LMS StartupNotify=true This qwebappwrapper then allows me to wrap other sites. I am, however, considering on writing an LMS-specific version of this. This specific version would then auto-discover LMS, have native MPRIS controls, and perhaps even start/stop squeezelite. But for now this simple wrapper works well enough for me. The wrapper can either be built as a normal binary (so will need Qt dev headers installed), or run from python. See https://github.com/CDrummond/qwebappwrapper for more info. *Material debug:* 1. Launch via http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json (Use http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json,cometd to also see update messages, e.g. play queue) 2. Open browser's developer tools 3. Open console tab in developer tools 4. REQ/RESP messages sent to/from LMS will be logged here. cpd73's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66686 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116934 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
