Obviously not in the right place ...

Silly me, I used the wrong plugin. Thanks for the pointer..

I have it active and can now mouse over and rate songs so thanks ...

With that out of the way , the purpose of my wanting to add a rating was
to be able to play a random mix of songs based on rating.

That doesn't seem to be possible.

Also, this is the pCP 4 thread.
If you are using that version then have a think about moving to pCP 7.
It won't change anything related to this incident but could help with
future queries.

2021-04-09 Thread tbalon

I'm running picoreplayer on raspberry pi.

SERVER: Version: 8.1.2 - 1616822325 @ Sat Mar 27 06:45:15 CET 2021

piCorePlayer
Model: SqueezeLite
Type: squeezelite
Firmware: v1.9.6-1206-pCP

I wanted to rate songs by clicking on one of the five stars on the
browser GUI. This of course, didn't work.
On inspecting the settings I came across the toggle for ratings and it
stated.

\"DISPLAY RATING STARS. NOTE: CHANGING RATINGS REQUIRES AN ADDITIONAL
PLUGIN.\"

I have searched for a suitable plugin but cannot locate one.

I have searched and the only references that I can see require the
addition of an IR interface and use of a
remote control to rate songs.

Is there a method or plugin available that allows a user to rate songs (
click on rating and view ratings ) using
the web-browser interface ( Material Skin is a HTML5 WebApp for LMS ) ??

Ask for help in the appropriate thread for the version of pCP. I don’t
recall when google voice hat support was added. If you can select it
in the drop down on the squeezelite page, then. It should be supported.
We use the same drivers as Raspbian.

I have a bug or problem with 4, 5, 6. using a rasberry pi zero W with a
Google voicehat version 2.

With piCorePlayer there is no sound output at the headphone jack or the
speaker. alsamixer reports no controls for the voicehat.

With Raspbian Lite + Squezelite I get output from the headphone jack and
the speaker. alsamixer reports many google voicehat options.

I have found mention of people getting the voicehat to work but not any
mention of which version of the hat, version 1 or version 2.

has any one had a problem with version2 and found a way to fix it?

Thanks for any ideas

Ok, I was using rune 5 beta before piCore and it played the 352.8 khz
file fine, at least mpd indicated it was playing it without any
resampling, they said they patched the kernel to allow 384 khz support,
on the other hand I couldn't tell any difference between native 352.8
and resampled 352.8 so maybe I should just convert them to 192 khz and
same some space.

Thanks

The onboard RPi i2s hardware only supports 192k. You would have to do
USB to get those rates, and it can be very difficult with the RPI USB
weakness.

The PI4 has better chances with the USB

Hi, does piCorePlayer 5.0 support 352.8 khz and 384 khz over i2s? I have
a rpi 3b with a kali reclocker connected to an audio-gd r8 dac and when
I play a 352.8 khz flac file sox gets used and it consumes about 25%
cpu, I'm assuming sox is resampling because 192 khz flac files playback
without sox, flac is set to native.

Thanks

I have piCorePlayer running on a Rasp Pi 3. I have LMS running on it, I
also have a 500GB USB SSD drive connected that is SAMBA served. I use
dbPowerAmp on my Windows PC to rip CDs to the SSD on the RPI and the RPI
has a Allo Spdif board on it that feeds a DAC. It also acts via the
network as a server to another RPI with an Allo Spdif board (no disk)
that feeds it music file remotely. The music on both systems sounds
awesome and the system is super snappy, I don't see a difference in the
system with the disk locally attached or remotely with the system
attached via a wireless network.

I ordered a RPI 4 and am waiting for piCorePlayer to officially support
the RPI 4 as I want to add disk mirroring to the system that has the SSD
mounted on it for reliability. SSDs are reliable but I would hate to
have to rip all those CDs again. I also want to add a built in display
for the system with the disks that has a touch screen. I need the extra
memory of the RPI 4 to do all of that but I am super satisfied with the
setup. The only glitch that I have is that if my wireless goes down the
remote system gets a little confused sometimes even the local RPI but
its not to hard to reset. Good luck with your setup, I really love
piCorePlayer and can't wait for it to be ported to the RPI 4. Regards

Thanks. That made me look closer. I was focused on the bright green
light I can see from top of unit (which I believe is the digipro hat).
I looked again, and yes, next to the red power light is also a small
green light. When I do the PcP webpage powerdown, the green light
blinks and then goes out. Only the red light stays on. So I was
mis-remembering (that all lights went out). Only the green light next
to power goes out. All is good. Thanks for confirming this ronnie.

I just shutdown from the PCP web page, count the green flashes (I think
it's 10). This leaves only the red light on.

The browser page goes to whiteout and I then pull the power plug.

Thanks ronnie. The "might" is what still confuses me. I read that
thread, and see a statement like, "I haven't tested this shutdown method
yet, but as long as it invokes a proper shutdown (which I suspect it
does), it will be safe to remove power." Does this "removing power"
statement imply that one still sees power lights as ON until power
removed, even if one does a proper shutdown from piCorePlayer GUI?

So in piCorePlayer, I use the option from the main GUI page to do a
proper picoreplayer shutdown. That's what I've always done (proper
shutdown because I'm running LMS on this pi). But can't recall whether
power lights on unit actually turned OFF after the shutdown without
actually removing power.

I hadn't turned off my rPi 3B+ for so long I've forgotten the behavior.
I *thought* that when I went into the piCorePlayer web GUI and selected
"Shutdown piCorePlayer" it would actually turn off power to my rPi
itself. But in doing that today, I do (1) lose web access to
piCoreplayer and LMS and (2) the light next to the ethernet connection
is off (i.e., not talking to the network), BUT the red power button on
the rPi and the green light on the DigiPro Hat remain lit (i.e., ON).

Am i remembering wrong (that is, I'm wrong and these lights are supposed
to stay ON as long as unit plugged in and only go off if I then unplug
the rPi)

We've updated the squeezelite extension to the current 1.9.6-1198
version for piCorePlayer 4.x.

Fixes the issue of spotty ogg stream format skipping tracks
prematurely.
Includes decoding for opus and ogg/flac formats.
Direct https streaming.

To update squeezelite;

Use the piCorePlayer webgui main page tab and click the *Full Update*
button in the Update Squeezelite Extensions section.

Note that if you've enabled a custom squeezelite binary on the
squeezelite tab, pCP will continue to use your custom build until you
select either the standard or DSD options.

2019-06-11 Thread paul-

LMS was supposed to get automatically updated during the upgrade. I
think some downloads are failing, and I didn’t trap enough errors.

If you open an ssh session and run

pcp-update slimserver.tcz

Then reboot after it’s done, It should update

O.K., I loaded the pcp-sbpd extension and entered the command sbpd
b,24,NEXT in User Command #1. I used GPIO24 because I am using an Allo
DAC and it uses GPIO22.

Next, I just used a jumper to momentarily connect ground to GPIO24. I
also tried user command ./sbpd b,24,NEXT I'm using Allo's print out for
their 16 pin header pinout.

I also tried GPIO27 with no luck. Any further hints?

Thanks again,

Just wondering - I currently use the command "cat /proc/cpuinfo" and
then compare the value in the table here:
https://elinux.org/RPi_HardwareHistory
to determine which raspberry pi is running the picoreplayer (I have 4
Rpis running PCP and I don't remember which one is which). Is this
information available through any of the PCP displays, either via the

2019-06-07 Thread Howard Passman

I have a piCorePlayer in my car. Works great. Starts up automatically
and picks a random 100 songs from the library. I've been controlling it
with my Android phone and Squeeze Controller, butbecause the
piCorePlayer doesn't connect to the Internet, the phone drops the
connection in an effort to use the 4G connection. While it's nice to
have the display and all of the controls all I really need to a "Play
Next" button. The SBS is under the center console, so using a IR remote
won't work. Is there a quick and easy (not a programmer) to add one
hardwired button or some other sort of remote to piCorePlayer to
accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for any ideas or help.

You could buy a 4 port hub (Ethernet) and plug that in to one of the
ports and then plug two devices I to the new hub.
You could move something to WiFi ... although considered a bad thing to
do for LMS server since traffic will be high if many simultaneous
players or lots of other devices busy on WiFi and could lead to pauses
in playing.

You music files are not in a folder named LMSfiles.

You need to redo the mount name to anything you like
"swishbottomwoodrut" seems a likely name, then your music files will
appear under that share name.

Bedtime for me.

It looks like you have LMS cache on your mounted USB disk
I wonder if this has replaced your music that was on there.

Also, my recollection is that having Linux / TinyCore LMS cache on NTFS
drive does not work (but that might be an obsolete memory).

I had everything setup and running last night with the help from some on
the audiophile section of the forum.
Today I'm trying to use this, and the pi and Transporter are detected
and functional, but the music library on the HDD is not detected. I've
gone back through the steps for detecting the HDD and Samba, but unable
to select the music folder(there isn't anything for Music listed) for my
HDD at the step in the screenshot I've included.

Also, in the Set Samba shares section. Down at the bottom of the
screenshot, the selection available doesn't show Set Samba, instead it's
Set shares.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestions Paul, I've run fsck on the second partition:

$ sudo fsck -V /dev/sdc2
fsck from util-linux 2.31.1
[/sbin/fsck.ext4 (1) -- /dev/sdc2] fsck.ext4 /dev/sdc2
e2fsck 1.44.1 (24-Mar-2018)
/dev/sdc2: clean, 246/3780608 files, 583682/15122432 blocks

So it looks like fsck thinks it's fine. Although the output from fsck
was instant, it didn't take any time to complete, so I'm wondering if it
actually did anything.

I guess it's time to get a new SD card.

Cheers

The Fat partition is only the boot disk. That dirty bit is very common
and mostly harmless.

Partition 2 is where the extensions reside, and all of the pCP web
interface. Those messages look like the SD card failed.Try forcing
a fsck on that partition, see what happens.

I'm pretty sure the cache is on a USB drive connected directly to my
piCore Player machine, although I'm not 100% sure. On the USB drive
there is a slimeserver/Cache directory with files that were modified as
recently as yesterday which might indicate that the cache is on the USB
drive and not the SD card.

I had a look at the dmesg section on the Diagnostics page and there is
something odd (Thanks for the pointer). Here's an extract:

Some data may be corrupt. Please run fsck.

It looks like something did indeed get corrupted, probably when the
power went down.

I put the SD card into my Ubuntu system, it got automatically mounted as
/dev/sdc, I unmounted the 2 partitions (sdc1 and sdc2) and then ran
$ sudo fsck /dev/sdc1 which gave the following output:

fsck from util-linux 2.31.1
fsck.fat 4.1 (2017-01-24)
0x25: Dirty bit is set. Fs was not properly unmounted and some data may
be corrupt.
1) Remove dirty bit
2) No action

Should I select option 1 to remove the dirty bit? Will this fix the
corruption or just reset the flag? fsck reported /dev/sdc2 as clean

Cheers

Is your LMS set to save the cache on the SD card?

Can you go to the diagnostics page and look at the Boot Log. See if
there is anything odd in dmesg too. If the partition has errors on it,
the easiest way to fix them would be to stick the SD card in another
Linux based machine and run a repair on it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 4.0.0

2019-06-03 Thread Stoker

Hi

Tried to play some music this morning and discovered that LMS is not
running. When I go to the piCore player web interface, in the Main Page
there's a red cross and the text: LMS is not running.

If I go to the LMS tab of the piCore Player web interface and hit the
start button I get the following messages:

[ INFO ] Starting LMS...
[ INFO ] The following modules failed to load: EV JSON::XS YAML::XS

It was all working fine on Friday but not now! I've rebooted piCore
Player (using web interface reboot button and by power cycling) but
continue to get the same issue.

Version numbers:
piCorePlayer v4.1.2, linux 4.14.81-pcpCore_v7, piCore v9.2pCP,
Squeezelite v1.9.0-1121-pCP

I'm guessing something got corrupted, think there may possibly have been
a power outage over the weekend while I was away.

So far I'm thinking either uninstall/reinstall LMS or wipe SD card and
reinstall piCore Player. Both a bit of a pain, so if anyone has any
suggestions...

I'm happy with command line stuff and SSH etc.

Cheers

got it. From a post above, evidently not possible with PiCorePlayer. It
must be possible in some configuration. Small Green Computer sells
several units (variations of microrendu and in the past the
SonicOrbiter). These are essentially rPi type microcomputers that have a
web interface that allows one to choose between squeezelite, roon
output, and even other things. Their OS that does all this is
proprietary, but I'm sure it is something put together based on
available software.

p.s. I do the same thing (mostly LMS, but occasional ROON). My solution
was to put together an additional rPi using Ropieee for use with Roon.

Thanks for your help. But my main use for the RB Pi is as a SB Touch
Replacement, including touch screen functionality. I was simply thinking
that I could also use it as a Roon Bridge occasionally. I don't have any
desire at this point to change it's main function to being a Roon
Bridge. And yes I know you can run an LMS emulator in Roon, but that
cripples lots of the LMS interface and functionality - alarms, plugins,
etc. If my situation ever changes and I really want it as a Roon
endpoint, I can always give it the ropieee OS instead of piCore.

Are there any issues with installing this on pCP?

I believe I need to install some extensions to accomplish this. What
size should I resize the main partition to? I have a 32GB SD card
installed.

Thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 4.0.0

2019-05-30 Thread Greg Erskine

hi pputzer,

During development of products like pCP things do go astray leaving the
RPi not connected to the network. The only option is a keyboard and
monitor to diagnose the problem.

A few months ago I played around with silent booting. I spent way to
much time and didn't get a complete result, but it resulted in pCP5.0.0
[Bootcodes] page being updated to allow adding console and logo.nologo
bootcodes. The noautologin bootcode will probably added sometime after
pCP5.0.0.

It's not practical to distribute additional boot files. There is already
4 of these files, 2 for the normal release and 2 for the experimental
release. TinyCore/piCore is about being small, adding 10MB per
distribution will not happen.

You will need to write a script to recreate these files with your new
inittab. It should be fairly straight forward following the advise in
the thread you highlighted, they have virtually written the script.

regards
Greg

Yes, I understand USB doesn't output sound. It should output the audio
signal to the USB ports and via them to a USB sound device. The issue is
that when I define the sound card as USB, on boot up I get USB not
found or some similar announcement, even though the USB ports are
functional for other uses.

Yes, but I can always swap in another SD card. Anyway, even if you keep

Well, I just checked: /etc/inittab is run before the backup gets
restored. Any way to modify it earlier that does not include rolling my

USB on its own can not output sound. Do you have any USB sound device
attached to your Pi? If not, there's no way to output sound through USB.
If you do have such a device, I think it should indeed be selectable in
pCP even if a HAT like the Hifiberry is also present.

Is there a simple way to disable login spawning on tty1? I've disabled
all the boot messages, but the login prompt is still spawned from
/etc/inittab. Unfortunately, that's one configuration file that can't
easily be modified with pCP's usual backup/restore mechanism.

Everything works, Including the DAC.

Any clues how I get the USB recognized or what the problem might be?

timezone set is idt (israel daylight time) which is the correct time

Hi-
My picoreplayer is a Rasperry Pi 3B+

Everything works great except: the clock displays a time exactly 3hours
earlier than my actual time. If I change the time zone in settings it
has no effect. The same time issue remains (3 hours early). Also, if I
attempt in a command line to "set" the time and/or date I get a response
that that I can't make that change.

I have other SB devices running on the same network and with the same
LMS server, and they all display the correct time.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Maybe jivelite can have the "timezone" function added in to the menus -
just like on the original SBT.
