Thanks Paul. Sorry for the bump of an old 2.0 thread In other news I finally updated 3x pCP players to 8.1 2x were on 6.0 so required fresh burns, 1x player and 1x LMS insitu updates. Ahhh, thanks Jeff. So they have a USB to eth built in? Clever, I guess. I'm using the RPI3 as a server right now and it works pretty well. Not as fast as my old Windows machine, but everything else about it is so much nicer. A bit more memory is probably the best improvement for me. Have a great weekend and thanks again for the info. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 2.00
OK...most likely a total noob question. I´m running pCP 2.0 w Squeezelite v1.8-658 successfully on my RPi2. The Pi2 is connected to my external DAC which is able to play files up to DSD 128. Now let´s assume I would get a new DAC or active speakers with built-in DAC which can only play files up to 24/192. Is there any chance that files higher than 24/192 can be played, too? Can this be achieved via the "max sample rate" field in Squeezelite (if "YES" what would be the correct setting?)? Or anywhere else? Thanks in advance. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 2.00
Hi, Firstly, many thanks for providing such a powerful and easy to set-up and use distro!! However since trying to add an extra player based on a Pi Zero W (with JustBoom pHAT) I am having difficulties setting wifi up. After setting up the wifi details, I'm getting: :Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) : :too few arguments. I have scoured the internet for for ideas on how to fix this, to no avail. I can confirm that neither the SSID or password feature any spaces, which I know to have caused this issue. I have tried entering the wifi details both via setup from the console with attached screen and keyboard, and via newconfig.cfg, and get the same thing. Have also tried both the plain and audio versions, both 3.21 and the new 3.22. I'm stuck! I have even installed Raspian on a card, just to verify that the built in wifi adaptor is functioning (which it is). Is there anything else I can try??? If it helps, I am with Virgin Media, and my SSID is: VMnnn (where n = a number). My password is just a mixture of upper and lower case letters and numbers. No spaces or punctuation. Many Thanks!!! In addition, to connect the pi3 via cable i should use a "power adapter" that does not make me crazy. Not to mention the increase in cables and devices that I would avoid! The difference in sound between having a single rasp or having two in this configuration is great (in the best of course!). hi andreame, I'd recommend always use Ethernet wire from your LMS server to the network via a router. That will be more reliable as you add players either via cable or wireless. Always try and avoid double wireless routing. Generally, you should connect end devices to routers or switches rather than trying to bridge them. regards Greg Greg Erskine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7403 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105018 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Hi all, In my setup I used two rpi 3. One as LMS server and the other as a player. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 2.00
Hi Michael, yes maybe you're right. It would be much easier to just setup an actual raspian (stretch is out since yesterday :) ) where i can do as usual what i need and then just adding squeezelite for the player function. Thanks a lot for your help and sharing that idea to me! So my idea was to use it with Docker. pCP is a full OS image. But Docker isn't virtualization. You can't run a full OS inside Docker. Google for raspbian and squeezelite, and you'll find plenty of information about how to set up playback on your Pi. Eg. http://www.gerrelt.nl/RaspberryPi/wordpress/tutorial-installing-squeezelite-player-on-raspbian/. Hi, i'm new to piCorePlayer and tested it yesterday. But you're likely in the wrong thread. This is about the old version 2.0 What is about to run the piCorePlayer inside an Docker Container? So i would use raspian + Docker. Then i would have anything i need on one device. But i'm not familiar with docker. Do you think it will work? IMHO totally wrong approach. pCP is there to provide the minimum you need to make your Pi a player. If you want to run a ton of other software, then pCP is not for you. Install on your Raspbian instead. That's just the player application without a full OS around it. -- Michael ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 2.00
Hi, i'm new to piCorePlayer and tested it yesterday. It is a very nice and easy to use image! I like it! The first device will be the background music at my guest WC ;) But for that i also need to use sensors via GPIO and to run FHEM on the same device. The music only should start to play if somebody will sit on the toilett. So i noticed i can't install anything by myself on the piCorePlayer. No apt-get, no dpkg, so it seems to be a very light version of linux. What is about to run the piCorePlayer inside an Docker Container? So i would use raspian + Docker. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 2.00
I've recently discovered picoreplayer & love it. Many thanks to the team for this fantastic distro. :D I've had great success but noticed an issue when setting up a new board today - if I use a space in my wifi SSID in newconfig.cfg, the pi (zero W) will not connect. Watching the console shows the following: > ERROR FOR WIRELESS REQUEST "SET ESSID" (8B1A) : > TOO FEW ARGUMENTS. I made sure newconfig.cfg was encoded with unix line endings & also attempted to configure the wireless SSID using the console 'setup' utility (on a fresh image), but received the same error on reboot. In the end, I configured a wireless SSID on my network without a space & the pi connected first go. I then reconfigured via the web interface to the correct SSID and everything works. I was also curious to learn more about the audio patches in the audio optimized kernel, is it the suggested build now? willywonka's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=67212 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105018 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Hi, the last build (3.20) contains a kernel which has a bug for the Hifiberry Amp+, it plays only 44.1kHz, but not 48kHz. Can't find the bug thread right now though... Please follow along in the thread for the latest version of piCorePlayer Currently 3.20 http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107352-Announce-piCorePlayer-3-20 Hifiberry never introduced any new drivers for the IO card, so I'm sure it would work, but then we don't have that card to do any development. paul-'s Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58858 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105018 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 2.00
Hey! I have a Raspberry Pi 3 with IQaudIO Amp+ card and 7" touch display, running piCorePlayer. First problem: In the Screen settings (on the touch display) I have set the display to turn off when the player is stopped. But it wonÂt. It can show a blank screen, but it wonÂt turn off. ThereÂs always light. Second problem: After every restart the system doesnÂt remember my screen settings at all and I have to set them from new. If I want to adjust the Display backlight brightness in the PiCorePlayer settings it says "No official Raspberry Pi display detected", but (as far as I know) it is the original display. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 2.00
Hi Sergiu Unfortunately this method doesn't work for me. The standard startup file is running this command: /usr/local/sbin/shairport-sync -a Squeeze2 -o alsa -S soxr -d -D -R -- -d hw:CARD=sndrpihifiberry -c Digital But the command I actually want it to run is: /usr/local/sbin/shairport-sync -a Squeeze2 -o alsa -S soxr -d -D -R -- -d hw:CARD=sndrpihifiberry So even if I change the mixer_control_name variable in the config file to something else (a null value, in this case), the hardcoded command line parameters are over-riding the config file - which is something you mention in your mail. Any ideas if I can over-ride or change the command line parameters? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 2.00
Hi there, Thanks for a nice streaming client, that piCorePlayer is! SUperor to all other fancy GUI open source stuff. One question: Can you please include the shairport-sync.config in the distribution per default, and move the command line param config into there. In this way, we have the freedom to config it as we want. Surely, I can do it myself afterwards - which I did, but I cannot override the command line params. One more thing: can you please compile the shairport-sync with the Code: --with-metadata option? Or share the instructions, how to compile myself (dependencies to be installed). The reason is that I am trying to build a simple one-page web dashboard on the device with the device info like who is controlling, which streaming protocol is being played, which sond and so on. So I need the currently played track and client from AirPlay. Thanks a lot in advance, Sergiu PS: If you re-compile, can we have the 3.0.2 version ? I have tried on Volumio and it works quite well. However, I am a piCorePlayer fan ;) bsergiu's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66496 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105018 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

FYI piCorePlayer 3.20 is out now and 3.x has been around for a long time - so you might want to try a new SD card with that and see if it resolves your problems as I doubt that pCP 2 will be getting significant attention. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: piCorePlayer 2.00
hi everyone, i'm totally new on this forum although I've been using LMS for quite some time now ... I just started using picoreplayer on a raspberry/ess dac combination from audiophonics a few days ago It appears to be unstable on hires audio and I can't really find the reason my overall configuration is : - vdsl internet (20Mb/s effective bandwidth) - qobuz hires streams (between 1mbps and 6 mbps audio streams 16/44 up to 24/192) - LMS multiroom server - raspberry V2 + ess DAC 9023 - ethernet 100mb wire connection - latest picoreplayer distro - squeezelight with no resampling on low res (mp3 up to 16/44) everything is OK On hi-res, the behaviour is the following : - starts streaming (audio is OK) - then stalls/eats data blocks/ plays garbage - then starts again for a few seconds - then stalls again, etc... When playing, the squeezelite process eats 1-4% of cpu when stalling, squeezelite eats 25% of cpu (meaning 100% of one core) no io wait on top statistics ... There is a bottleneck somewhere... but where ? Unlikely to be on the wire section : I can stream HD vod on my player connected on the same switch. most likely on the raspberry side : hardware? software ? did you see this before ? Any hint on how to solve this ? hi everyone, i'm kind of shooting in the dark here...the idea that anyone would respond to page 145 of a thread seems pretty ridiculous. which actually then leads me to wonder why picoreplayer doesn't just start it's own forum, but oh well. the idea that you'd use a single thread for all troublshooting issues seemsuseless. that said, here goes. i have a pi zero (rpi0) that i've successfully installed picoreplayer 2.06 on (version 3 wouldn't work for some reason). it works very well, and i enabled the jivelite functionality, hoping that it would recognize my 3.5 SPI/GPIO touchscreen properly (works successfully in raspbian with waveshare drivers). however, that of course would be too easyin fact the screen just stays white and nothing happens. so, the next thing i tried was to add the 35 waveshare overlay to the picoreplayer overlays, add references in the config and cmdline, etc etc. switched fbcon to 10, even added the x11 references from the waveshare drivers. the best i was able to come up with is a white screen with a small black border around it. better than just the plain old white screen i guess. anyways, i have spent the past 72 hours researching every single possible fix for this. people say they have it working, some people have even posted tft.tcz files, etc etc. the problem is that every single file reference i've seen is no longer downloadable. jgrulich, nowhinjing, and everyone else who has uploaded filesyour links don't work any longer. i'm stuck! try searching for "tft.tcz" on google...it's a dead end. so, my question is this: assuming i have a working picoreplayer 2.06 install on a raspberry pi zero (rpi0) with the 3.5 waveshare overlay installed, proper references in config and cmdline, and jivelite enabled, what else could i possibly need? i've seen references to mod commands, and calling modules at boot, etcbut a very clear 1,2,3,4 set of instructions from this point onwards would be unbelievably helpful. i've learned A LOT in my research, but i am absolutely stuck at this point. thanks so much for your timei hope this reaches someone. (please start a forum specifically for picoreplayer, this single thread system is insane!) jordache's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66119 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105018 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
