I just went through a fresh install using the latest b9 image, and I'm pleased to see that the framebuffer settings made the cut. And the lcd-brightness.sh script seemed to arrive automatically - I'm guessing that's now part of the 'default skin' extension. So that's a couple more steps that are a bit easier to do already. I'll update my instructions based on b9. I'd say that really just leaves the cmdline.txt and /opt/bootlocal.sh steps that could be streamlined somehow. Everything seems functional in the skin now apart from the 'brightness when off' feature in the piCorePlayer applet. I know Ralphy was looking into a patch to apply the '_GENERIC' changes to JiveMain.lua, but I guess he was holding off with that, and the updates to the skin and its strings, until I provided a new strings file to finish the job. I'll do that today. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111502 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite on a Pirate Audio 240x240 screen
CURRENT BEST STEPS AS OF 09FEB2020 (TO SUIT NEW B9 IMAGE): Put a fresh pcp6-b9 image on the SD card. Whilst the SD card is still in the laptop: Enter wifi credentials in wpa_supplicant.conf.sample and save as wpa_supplicant.conf Add these parameters to the end of cmdline.txt. All of the parameters in cmdline.txt should be on one continuous line, with a space between each one. Code: fbcon=map:10 fbcon=font:VGA8x16 Boot the RPi from this SD card. The default file system is 58mb, so for this basic setup it is not necessary to resize the FS - I have about 6.6mb to spare after this setup. Add these commands to /opt/bootlocal.sh to set up the framebuffer. Make sure they are inserted near the top of the file, BEFORE pcp_startup.sh. (The init string in 'flexfb' (https://github.com/notro/fbtft/wiki/flexfb) has now been constructed to match the settings found in Pimoroni's sample 'def _init(self)' Python function 'here' (https://github.com/pimoroni/st7789-python/blob/master/library/ST7789/__init__.py)). Note that the third line of the init code, highlighted in bold, can be changed to '-1,0x36,0x70,\' (as per the Pimoroni original settings) to rotate the display 90 degrees clockwise. Code: modprobe flexfb setaddrwin=0 width=240 height=240 init=\ -1,0x01,\ -2,150,\ -1,0X36,0X00,\ -1,0xB2,0x0C,0x0C,0x00,0x33,0x33,\ -1,0x3A,0x05,\ -1,0xB7,0x14,\ -1,0xBB,0x37,\ -1,0xC0,0x2C,\ -1,0xC2,0x01,\ -1,0xC3,0x12,\ -1,0xC4,0x20,\ -1,0xD0,0xA4,0xA1,\ -1,0xC6,0x0F,\ -1,0xE0,0xD0,0x04,0x0D,0x11,0x13,0x2B,0x3F,0x54,0x4C,0x18,0x0D,0x0B,0x1F,0x23,\ -1,0xE1,0xD0,0x04,0x0C,0x11,0x13,0x2C,0x3F,0x44,0x51,0x2F,0x1F,0x1F,0x20,0x23,\ -1,0x21,\ -1,0x11,\ -1,0x29,\ -2,100,\ -3 modprobe fbtft_device name=flexfb speed=3200 cs=1 gpios=dc:9 Load the pcp-jivelite_default-qvga240squareskin.tcz extension In the Jivelite section of the tweaks page, change the Framebuffer to /dev/fb1 and click on 'Set FB'. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite on a Joggler
castalla wrote: > It currently shows the line-ou+speaker on start-up Yeah, that's not right. The Joggler retains the last used setting across a reboot, and the applet should show whatever the current setting is. The version in the attached zip does this properly now. Whenever the the screen with the three options is shown the applet reads the current setting and sets the corresponding radio button. I'm reasonably happy that it's now doing what's intended - the chosen option is reflected in what alsamixer shows. But I'm not seeing any difference between the 'Speaker Only' and 'Line Out+Speaker' options. Both options seem to play through the built-in speaker until a 3.5mm jack is inserted, at which point the built-in speaker mutes and the sound switches to the speaker attached to the 3.5mm jack. The 'Disabled' option allows the built-in and external speakers to play together. 29326 (to update, replace the folder you created for the previous version with the folder in this new zip) +---+ |Filename: JogglerAudio.zip | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=29326| +---+ chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110040 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] BETA: piCorePlayer6.0.0 - PI4 support
Hi all, I'm new here, but I hope this is nothing that has already been discussed a hundred times... I'm running the 6.0.0-b9 on my RPi4 with Hifiberry Amp2 since today. Had a few problems with the upgrade. Squeezelite was not recognizing the Card anymore and wasn't starting. First I was using a fresh image and hat the problem from the beginning, then I tried using the 6.0.0-b7 and then performing the isitu update. That was working first, but when I was activating bluetooth settings (and expanding file system) it hasn't worked again. The solution seemed to be making the settings under 6.0.0-b7 and then making the upgrade. The main question is about Streaming from Bluetooth Device (Smartphone) to PCP. I got it to run basically and it's fine. But there's two things that make problems. 1.) The audio and also the interactions on the Smartphone (volume up/down, next,...) are delayed for many seconds, that makes the handling a mess. Is there the possibility to make some config changes or is it a known issue that is not fixed yet? 2.) Connecting: Would it be possible to always have the Player "discoverable" and just set a PIN that is needed to connect? That would make it possible to connect devices without accessing the PcP via Web and setting the Player discoverable. My Pi is on GE-LAN, so I don't think it is just about the Bluetooth Audio/Control. in PCP 6b9 page /cgi-bin/minor_update.cgi?ACTION+value%3D= ( after a minor update check ) does not have a return button or auto timer. I have seen some inconsistencies on these return timers and buttons before , but never reported as they are minor and not interfering with functionality. But I remember you were looking to round up development on this release 6.0, So perhaps this is the moment to collect and report such things. My proposal would be to never auto reload such pages, of have the option to freeze the timer, As I try to read all the windows and scan for error messages , and then 7 seconds is to fast of you see something interesting. But present a manual return button to indicate the page is no longer updated with emerging info. BTW many THANKS for all the new versions. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite for piCorePlayer
Today Jivelite froze this morning at 4:45 - as it sometimes does (at different times). I did as usual, I unplug at the wall, reboot. This time piCorePlayer gave me the following message (same as in #1003 in this thread a few pages back): Starting Jivelite...There is a problem with the Jivelite installation. Please remove and reinstall Jivelite. I didn't do this, I just rebooted piCorePlayer from the web-interface and Jivelite came back up. I wonder if anyone has found the root cause of this problem? (first problem being that it freezes from time to time, but second problem that it wouldn't start) ... is it just that I've used an old SD-card (that I've found in a drawer) and it's either just a slow one, or maybe near end-of-life? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Jivelite on a Joggler
I just tried this image on an Openframe 2 ... It boots and works using ethernet. But, as Roobarb says: If you're using an OpenFrame 2 the wireless connection does work... sort of. Performance is absolutely terrible and I've not been able to do anything about it. Maybe it's my OF2 which is at fault, but feedback would be appreciated. We're using the brcmsmac driver; the b43 was worse and broke Bluetooth for me. The broadcom-wl driver might do the trick, but there are licensing issues, so I can't distribute it. Good luck! In fact, wifi doesn't work at all ... can get to settings and enter the SSID/Passphrase. On reboot, the settings are recalled but no wifi address has been assigned. I googled for info on the wl driver, but it made little sense, I'm afraid. Any ideas?
