Hi,

how can i use the comand
put URL FTP://username:passw...@...
if the username already contains a @.
I tried to put the username into a var, but that does not the trick.

Is it even possible?

Sarah,

i now have tried it here with pre-alpha-4 on an iPhone to download a file from

Did you try it with WLAN or with GSM/UMTS?

Hi,

i tried it now also over GSM/UMTS and it works also. Only the spinning wheel
while downloading from the internet is not shown, regardless if doing the
download over WLAN or GSM/UMTS.

Tested here now with an iPhone 3G and a 2G, both with the OS 3.1.3.

sending data to a printer over v.24 rs232 interface to a printer under windows

2010-03-02 Thread runrev260805
Hi,

today i got a call from a customer. He is using a special (programmable)
keyboard, which is connected via v.24 interface directly to a barcode printer.
the keyboard runs a 12 line basic program, which waits for an input from the
keybord. This input then is sent with severeal controlcodes via V.24 to the
printer. Now the keyboard is broken and it takes about 12 weeks before the new
one arrives here.

So my question is, how complicated is it to write some code in rev to
communicate with the V.24 interface to sent the data from the rev app?

Is there anyone on the list, who has done something similar?

Regards,

Matthias

Translating your error gives the details copied below. This seems to
indicate that the data grid library is correctly incorporated into
your revlet, but it's missing some handler needed to set the text.
Not very helpful I'm afraid, but it might give you some ideas.

Under Windows I use

Texteditor : Ultraedit
IconEditor : IconWorkshop
FTP Client : WsFTP
MySQL Frontend: HeidiSQL
TextureTool : Texturemaker

I am also looking for a free Graphic program and a 3D animation program.

So are there any free or at least cheap MacOSx alternatives.

already exist in your data grid table in order to be displayed.
So you have to create the columns and their name first
Either by hand in the Columns pane of the inspector
or by script as in the following example :
-- drag a new data grid and do :
 -
put Name cr ForeName into theColNames
set the dgProp[columns] of grp dataGrid 1 to theColNames
 -
Then you can populate it with pFirstLineContainsHeaders like this:
 ---
put Name tab ForeName cr Smith tab Jim into
 theData
set the dgText[true] of grp dataGrid 1 to theData

on standalonesaved

2010-02-22 Thread runrev260805
Dear all,

i need to process the standalone files after they were created. So i thought i
could use 'on standalonesaved pFolder'. But pFolder only contains the target
path, which was selected in the standalone build process.

I am working under Windows. Under Windows the standalone is not created in that
target folder directly. The standalone builder creates an additional folder in
this target folder. If i create the standalone multiple times, the name of this
automatic created folder is numbered consecutively.

Is there any way to process the files in this automatic created folder by
script?

thanks for your answer. Maybe you know also how I can get the
standalone name from the standalone settings?

Then i could create acommon script and do not have to adjust it
  according to the standalone name.

I am not sure I understand because building a standalone is a manual
process and the standalone settings are in the stack you built the
standalone for. But, if you just want to know the name of the last
standalone you built and using the example I gave below then...

Again set the defaultFolder to *MyRevPrograms*. This time use the *detailed
folders* function to return into a variable all directories under
MyRevPrograms. Sort the variable descending by item 4 (the Julian creation
date and time of the folder) in the variable.

Now line 1 of the variable will contain something like:
*MyLastProgramName12* in item 1 of the line. Strip off the trailing numbers
of the directory name in item 1 of line 1 and you will have the standalone
name of the last standalone you built.

Is there any way to process the files in this automatic created

As you note, the standalone builder creates a directory under the
   directory
you select and appends a number each time you build. Also, depending
   on if
you are building for just Windows or other OSs, the EXE file you are
   looking
for could be directly under this numbered directory or in a Windows
   subdirectory. So...

Let's say the directory you select to save in is called
   MyRevPrograms and
the name of the standalone is MyProgram. Set the defaulFolder to
MyRevPrograms. Use the *folders* function to return a list of
   folders under
MyRevPrograms into a variable. Use the *filter* command to filter the
variable with only folders with the name MyProgram* (note the
   asteric).
Sort the variable descending. Line 1 of the variable will now
   contain the
last build directory name. Append this directory (with a slash in
   front) to
   the defaultFolder.

If you built for multiple OSs then you would have to append /Windows
   to
this. This is where your EXE and stacks you included in the last
   build will
be. So you should end up with something like:

   C:/MyRevPrograms/MyProgram8/Windows/

Yes, there is. Actually there is one for each OS you are building for.
They are in the custom property set called cRevStandaloneSettings. If
you turn on View UI Elements in Lists under the View menu, and then
inspect the stack, you will see the custom property set and all the
available values. For example, the OS X property is called OSX.name.

You can retrieve each name by using something like this:

get the cRevStandaloneSettings[OSX.name] of this stack

Looking at the synaptic offerings for microsoft sql, there are a couple
 more
 possibilities:

There is a Perl module, libdi-perl, about which the comments say

BI (DataBase Interface) is a Perl framework that provides a common
 interface
to access various backend databases in a uniform manner. DBD (DataBase
 Driver)
modules provide implementations for various backend data storage mechanisms
including networked relational databases (particularly SQL databases) and
 even
web services such as the Google search engine.

It is extremely portable and available for a wide range of operating
 systems,
 architectures and data stores, including:

  * Oracle
  * Microsoft SQL Server
  * IBM DB2
  * SQLite
  * PostgreSQL
  * Firebird
  * MySQL

Then there is a package called sqsh, about which the comments say

sqsh is a flexible commandline utility that uses the freetds libraries
to connect to Sybase or Microsoft SQL servers. It is a useful debugging
tool for identifying problems with other SQL applications, and it can be
used as a productivity tool in its own right: unlike most SQL CLIs, sqsh's
interactive shell lets you pipe the output of SQL queries directly to other
 Unix commands for further processing.

Hope one of these is some use!

 Hi Matthias,

I've already seen http://samples.on-rev.com/database.irev which only shows
how to open a local MySQL database not a remote one.

But if you replace in the example

  - localhost with your on-rev domain
  - bentest_people with the name of your MySQLDB
  - bentest_samples with the username of your DB
  - samples09 with the password of the user of your DB

then you can remote connect to your db.

I am specifically looking for code examples, not the basics.

What do you mean with code examples? Do you want to know how to create/update
or delete records, how to do a select or what?
There is no difference, if you connect locally or remote.

2010-02-04 Thread runrev260805
Hm,

if it think of that the sets are now shipped since more than 3 weeks and there
are so many not yet shipped ...
Then how many sets were sold? There must be thousands and thousands or is the
logistics company, which is doing the shipment for Runrev, a one person
company, which is not able to ship more than 5 or 10 a day? Do they have to
burn the DVDs before shipment?

Slowly but surely i will lose my patience about that. A good logistics company,
even a small one, should be able to send about 300 - 500 packages a day.

Matthias

Re-4: On-Rev subdomain (main domain hosted elsewhere)

2010-01-11 Thread runrev260805
Hi David,

you are right. But for me it is
easier to handle the subdomain as add-on domain
on the on-rev system. I have moved many domains already
to on-rev and i want to keep sure not to loose the overview.

Btw.: Although cname is easier to setup, many providers prefer to set a-records
instead of cnames.

Regards,

Matthias

OK yes - but why not just set up say:

And then point the C name record as:

- subdomain.mydomain.com = subdomain.david.on-rev.com ?

I'd still have different folders on on-rev - but are you saying that I'd
have different root folders and that
http://subdomain.david.on-rev.com/would then not ALSO point to
subdomain.david.on-rev.com ? Still a bit confused - thanks for you patience!

2010-01-10 Thread runrev260805
Hi,

it´s a little complicated, but it is possible. I´ve done this already.

step 1. create an A-record for your desired subdomain on the nameserver, which
is responsible
for the main domain and point it to the ip of your On-Rev-domain
If you cannot do this directly, let your provider do this for you.

step 2. get the ip-adresses of the nameservers, which are responsible for your
main domain.

step 3. Ask the support at supp...@on-rev.com to add the ip-adresses (from
step 2) to the file ips.remotedns.

step 4. After support has added the ip-addresses to the file, add your
subdomain to your on-rev account. But you have to add it as an addon-domain.

That´s it.

Re-2: On-Rev subdomain (main domain hosted elsewhere)

2010-01-10 Thread runrev260805
Hi,

a cname is an alias for an other domain.
That means it points directly to your on-rev domain.
e.g. shop.yourdomain.com would point directly to yourname.on-rev.com
The same pages would be shown.

With an a-record you can use this subdomain as a real domain on the on-rev
system.
You could have different folders for shop.yourdomain.com and yourname.on-rev.com
So it would be possible to show different content for each domain.

Matthias

Re: How to invoke SendInput() Windows API. was Re: How do I paste into a different app?

2010-01-07 Thread runrev260805
Hi Bill,

i have done something similar. You can create a vbs script and let Rev run
this.

I am not very good at VBS, but the following lines show how to insert text into
an app.

___
Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject(WScript.Shell)
WshShell.Run winword.exe
'the app is opened. If your app is already running, you do not need this line
WScript.Sleep 2000
'script stops for 2000 milliseconds to take sure, that the app is running
before further proceeding.

WshShell.AppActivate Dokument1 - Microsoft Word
'activates your already running app
'between the quotes you have to put the exact name of the app - as it is shown
in the title bar of that app
' winword also shows the document name in the title bar

WScript.Sleep 100
 'script stops for 100 milliseconds'

WshShell.SendKeys This Text should be inserted
'the text between the quotes is sent to the app

WScript.Sleep 100
WshShell.SendKeys {enter}
'sends an enter to winword
WScript.Sleep 100

WshShell.SendKeys This Text should also be inserted
'the text between the quotes is sent to the app

Maybe Ken Ray could jump in, as he knows much more about VB and VBS.

Regards,

Matthias

It looks like Microsoft has deprecated the keybd_event API and suggests
 using SendInput() instead.

Below is a sample of what needs to be sent. This is a C++ example. How do I
send this from Rev in Windows? It looks similar to what I do with
AppleScript on the Mac? While the send...as applescript commands are
documented in Rev's dictionary I don't see anything similar for Windows
 APIs.

 INPUT inp[2];
memset(inp,0,sizeof(INPUT));
inp[0].type = INPUT_KEYBOARD;
inp[0].ki.dwFlags = KEYEVENTF_UNICODE; // to avoid shift, and so on
inp[1] = inp[0];
inp[1].ki.dwFlags |= KEYEVENTF_KEYUP;

for (LPCTSTR p=str; *p; p++) {
   inp[0].ki.wScan = inp[1].ki.wScan = *p;
   SendInput(2, inp, sizeof(INPUT));
}

Can I know the revWeb plugin is installed or not by a script?
I want to make an application for desktop + web browser.
And desktop version can detect a plugin.

On the web page, you can use the JavaScript that comes with the sample
 html to detect the plugin.

On the desktop, I guess the easiest way is to look in the expected
location and see if you can find the files.
On my Mac OS X system, I have this folder:
 /Users/sarah/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Inside the folder, I have nprevweb.plugin and wkrevweb.plugin.
So if you checked for the existence of those files, that would
 indicate the plugin was installed.

Hopefully someone else can contribute the expected location of the
 plugin under Windows.

 Cheers,
 Sarah

Normally, I would instruct the user to create a firewall exception for a

would one do this with a revlet? Is the revlet residing somewhere

 Hi Luis,

As I said, normally when this occurs in my standard Rev app, the user
need only create a firewall exception for my app. Communication usually
works fine after that. Are you saying this same approach won't work
 with a revlet?

I don´t think so, as the revWebPlayer.exe is the process, which tries to do
things. If you tell your firewall to accept this, then it should work.

I mean ANY form of loyalty. ALL LOYALTY is based on the perception of
belonging which is always defined by exclusivity. It is the friendly face
put on every negative trait exhibited by humans: nepitism, racism, sexism,
religious and every other form of superiority. Nobody joins a group to
assert their equality with those not of the group. Though we are often
fooled, cool-aid is cool-aid, no matter how long it has been aged. A
simple commitment to truth is a much more moral (fair) alternative. That
 and compassion.

It would be instructive here to place run-rev in historical and
genealogical perspective. In 1987 apple introduced a product based on the
genius of smalltalk that it called hypercard. A few years later, when
apple failed to keep hypercard modern, supercard brought color to the xtalk
family. When supercard ignored the other platforms (windows and unix),
metacard came to the rescue. What back-room finagleing prompted the
metacard people to change their name to run time revolution the single
most awkward product name in the history of product names, god only knows.
But here we are. And it is good to remember that the real genius of the
entire lineage of programming tools was based upon the insights of two men,
alan kay (smalltalk, objects and message passing) and bill atkinson (the
simplification of the object stack to a few predefined layers, and a
wysiwyg interface). Nothing done since has been anything but standard
version, product management, and customer relations. Not to diminish the
importance of or difficulty keeping a product current and supporting
customers, but the real value of xtalk IP was handed free of charge to
everyone after apple and owes much to the work of alan kay 30 years earlier.

Lets keep some perspective here. If rev wants loyalty, then at the very
least they should share it with the guys who invented all of the stuff it
brags about in its sales pitches. Cause almost none of it was naively
 derived at run time revolution.

Re-2: Can't get revweb to run under Windows 7 and IE

2009-11-28 Thread runrev260805
Hi Richard,

i had some time today evening. So i installed a fresh Windows 7 Ultimate.
I installed the webPlugin and tried to run a revlet. Page still shows that
there is no plugin installed.

In my case here, it shows also a yellow notification line above the page,
saying something like this ( I have a german windows, so i try to translate it):

This Website tries to execute the following Add-On nprevweb from Runtime
Revolution LtD. Please click here, if you trust this website and want to allow
the execution.

Clicking on that line lets you select if the AddOn shall be executed or shall
be executed on all Websites.

If this yellow notification line does not appear for whatever reason, your
customer could add the domain, from where the revlet is loaded, to the Trusted
Site Zones in the security settings of IE8.

This helped here with Windows 7 and IE8.

HTH,

Matthias

Re-2: Join the debate

2009-11-27 Thread runrev260805
Richmond, you are right with snobbery.

In the 80s i trained as a programmer (dual education system - no university
education). I programmed Cobol under BS2000, C under Xenix 86 and ATT Unix
System V. Later Pascal under Windows.
But we were always sneered by the guys which studied informatics, because they
thought that only they are real programmers. But even between us dual
education system programmers there were
such discussions. The younger C programmers, who did not learn older languages
like Cobol, always grin at us older ones, when we still were programming
things in cobol.

I gave up to defend myself, why i am using a specific language.

I for me used the programming language, which i thought was the best for the
needs of each single project. And i am still doing so.

Because of that, i also worked with Asymetrix Toolbook, mFactory´s mTropolis
and Macromedia´s Director in the past and now with Revolution Enterprise.

Although i am not perfect in revTalk, i am much faster then in any other
language.
I am learning more and more each time i am working with Rev.

I am aware, that i cannot do everything in Rev, but that´s okay.
But the thing that can be done in Rev, can be done fast and with satisfaction.

And please do not forget the outstanding maling list. One can learn so much,
just following it.
The people help each other regardless if a newbie or a professional is asking.
No inulsts, no RTFM comments. But whom do i tell
This list definitely increases the value of Revolution.

Switching over to Revolution was one of the best decisions i have ever made
(except marrying my wife and getting father, of course ;-) )

I am just sorry, that i did not switch earlier to Revolution.

Regards,

Matthias

 I don't see a pdf offered anywhere.

Don't forget the new ONLINE version of the docs
 http://docs.runrev.com/

I'm guessing that the engine and IDE change so much over time that they
 have
eliminated the PDF format for the *dictionary*, as I imagine it's much
harder to create a new PDF version for every time there is an update, as
opposed to the online (which can always be updated) and distributed
 versions
(which are true for the versions that they are connected to).

I think Rev have a new XML-based docs management system that is all
integrated, probably now all sourced from same the mother database. At
 least
that's the way I would do it. All in all, this I think is a sound strategy,
nobody wants out-of-date pdfs around to manage, and we need absolutely
 correct definitions.

Even this 3.0 dictionary is a great source of information.

And although i am working with V4.0 now, i am using my

I don't use the xml library to do the simple tag processing for three
 types of tags
Chunk expressions are so fast that I get better speed and control of
 the data parsing.

--- Use these steps to get started

 on test
replace cr with empty in xmlBlock
replace quote with ' in xmlBlock --(apostrophe ' char)
--now you can use quote expressions without worries
-- such as in the next line
replace statuses type='array' with (cr statuses
 type='array') in xmlBlock
 filter xmlBlock with statuses type='array'*

 put 0 into statusCount
repeat for each line statusArrLine in xmlBlock
replace status with (cr status) in statusArrLine
replace /status with (/status cr) in statusArrLine
filter statusArrLine with status*

repeat for each line statusTag in statusArrLine
replace status with empty in statusTag
replace /status with empty in statusTag
--now we have the data only, and on a single line
   add 1 to statusCount
   put statusTag into storArray[statusCount]

end repeat
 end repeat

 -- statusCount = total
 -- storArray[num] = strings storage
 end test

 Hope this helps.

Hi Marian,

thanks for the feedback.
Long story short, the only thing that does this adequately at present
is the Kindle DX. The only downside to reading PDFs on the DX is that
the page is displayed as a graphic not as reflowing text, so can not
 be highlighted or annotated.

So searching is also not possible, right?

But anyway, Amazon only offers the Kindle2 with International wireless coverage.
So the DX is not recommended for use in germany.

Actually, since we're off-topic, anyone using any ebook reader should
check out Calibre. It's really a marvel. Ditch your native software,
Calibre does it all and is fully cross platform. It also has a built-in
Stanza server for those who can't load books except via a wireless

I'm not connected with them, I'm just a very enthusiastic user.

Re: Sanskrit Typewriter RC1

2009-11-04 Thread runrev260805
Hi Richmond,

tried it here under windows with Firefox and IE8.

- Characters, which are shown directly after pressing the a key on the main
page are displayed correctly.

- But pressing a character , e.g. the first one of line 2 ( from above), opens
a new keyboard. But pressing this character gives me just a square.
This happens with all characters, which should be created through this kind of
sub-keyboard. Sorry, i do not know how to explain better in english.

Regards,

Matthias

search for regular expression in text and put the results into an array

2009-11-04 Thread runrev260805
Hi,

I am absolutely new to XML, so please forgive me for this question.

I have an XML file which looks similar like this.

?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8?
statuses type=array
statusblah blah bla
   some otherblah blah blah
  and so on/status

The status.../status part is repeating many times, but with different
content.

i want to put the status.../statuspart into an array. So i get to know how
often this part is in the xml file. I then want to extract some text of each of
this status/status section. My main problem is how to seperate each
Status... /status section. Do i have to use the XML library? Or is there
another way?

Regards,

Matthias

Hi Richmond,

I am, also, looking forward to my box of conference DVDs -
I wonder when they will materialise? Some of the lectures
(especially Ben Beaumont's ones) would be lovely to show

at hoe trying to make games.

Asked support some days ago, when the DVD set is shipped to the customers.

The answer:

Thank you for your request.

I'm sorry, I don't have any firm information yet.

Re-2: Minute HTML control in iRev

2009-11-03 Thread runrev260805
Hi,

i am an On-Rev user from the beginning, but it took about 4 months , before i
realized that it is so much easier to do. I nearly broke my neck before to get
the html stuff done in the irev code.

Maybe Runrev should mention on their On-Rev side that this is possible.

Regards,

Matthias

but what would be neat easier and clearer would be (this is a fantasy
chunk.. but gives you the idea...)

  ?rev
  if len(tDefinition) 350 then ?

  # then use this plain html

  div style=\margin: 15px;padding:2px 15px 2px 15px;\
  img src=/resources/lexicon/images/backgrounds/EyeGlass.jpg
  style=float:left; margin-right:12px; /

  ?rev
  else
  ?

  # use this plain html instead

  div style=margin: 15px;background-color: #FF;padding:2px 15px 2px
  15px; opacity: 0.90

  ?rev
  end if
  ?

  h1 style=text-shadow: +10% +10% 10% rgb(153,153,153);?rev put tWord
  ?:/h1
  p style:font-size: 115%; ?rev put tDefinition ? /p
  /div

i.e. goal: based on conditionals, case statement etc. swap out entire
  chunks
of html without having to build those strings in the code itself, but
  rather
talk to the page as in: Use this next section of html or skip this
  next
  section of html

Nothing fantasy about this. I do it all the time and I reckon it is
a lot easier than trying to quote the html so it can go into a put
 statement. So:

 ?rev if x = 3 then ?
 h1x = 3/h1
 ?rev else ?
 h2x 3/h2
 ?rev end if ?

 is perfectly valid iRev code.
It can get a bit messy, but format as neatly as you can, indent and
add blank lines so that it stays readable.

 Cheers,
 Sarah

 Hello Richmond,
Here is the solution that was given to my similar question a few days ago (
 Thanks Malte!):

this script executes a bit of javascript in the browser. The result
will then contain the URL your revLet has been launched from and you
can react accordingly. so you might want to do this on openstack for
 example

 on openStack
 local tURL
 do document.location.href; in browser
 put the result into tURL
 if tURL path/you/would/expect.html then
answer You are using my revlet from an unknown location. Please use
 it from my site instead
-- do a redirect here if you wish or quit
 end if
 end openStack

 Hope that sheds some light.

 All the best,

The presence of an Affiliate ID field suggests they're finally
 restarting their affiliate program. Nice.

For those unfamiliar with affiliate programs, they allow tracking of
links from your site to a vendor's so you can earn commissions on
 referred sales.

Amazon has a great affiliate program, and most of my WebMerge customers
are affiliate marketers (we even have our own affiliate program for
WebMerge, an easy thing to set up with the Miva Merchant shopping cart).

I just searched runrev.com for affiliate and came up empty, so I'm not

 sure hope so.

Given the very small numbers of people who appear to be using this platform, I

If there is still demand for an U3 version, maybe we should collect the names

exactly know how much peoples would work with that platform.

From:Richard Miller w...@together.net

I need the help of any genius around here who can help solve a bizarre bug.

I have one customer (and only one) who is using my Rev video software on
a PC and is encountering this bug. He actually has a laptop and desktop,
both with Vista, and has this same problem on both.

 1. Transfer a video from his camera to a flash drive. AVI or MOV...
doesn't matter. We've tried both. These are all H.264 encoded.

 2. Play the video file directly from his flash drive in QT. Plays fine.
 No problem at all.

 3. Transfer the file to his desktop, then play it in QT. Corrupted.
Parts of the video become distorted. It plays, but is obviously corrupted.

This occurs on both of his computers. We've tried this numerous times.

Now it gets a bit more bizarre. If we try to play one of the
desktop-based video files in the Kodak playback software that came with
his Kodak camera, it plays fine. The Kodak camera can transfer the video
from the flash drive to his Documents folder, then play it back from
there with no problem. But if the file is copied from the flash drive to
the desktop by drag-and-drop, then played in QT, it is corrupted.

I have gone in through remote access to disable just about every program
I could think of (on his computer) that might be causing this problem.
 The problem persists.

 Any ideas?

 Thanks.

From:Richmond Mathewson richmondmathew...@gmail.com

Ben Beaumont gave a most stimulating talk last night about the jazzy new
visual effectsin RR 4. At one point he showed us a simulation of a solar
 system featuring a sun and
4 or 5 planets in orbit about it. The particularly fancy bit was that the
 side of a planet
facing towards the sun was always 'lit'. Ben Beaumont claimed that this
 effect was
 a bit difficult.

 . . . I went back to my lodgings and jumped into a good, hot bath . . .

Bingo: all one has to do is set up a sequence of numbers round a circle
 like
 this:

 repeat with XYZ = 0 to 6.28 step 0.05
   put (cos(XYZ) * 150) into KOZ
   put (cos(XYZ - 1.54) * 150) into KOZ2
   put (sine(XYZ) * 150) into SIGN
   put (sine(XYZ - 1.54) * 150) into SIGN2

then one sets up a circular graphic of, say, 300,300 with a linear
 fillGradient of black
to green/blue/red and sets the following:

   set the fillGradient[to] to (KOZ + 400),(SIGN + 400)
   set the fillGradient[from] to (KOZ2 + 400),(SIGN2 + 400)
 end repeat

[ mind you, this might be complete rubbish as I haven't tried it yet . . .]

Hi,

thanks to all, who replied.

@Nicolas
Thanks for your workaround, but thats a little bit risky.

I was using GLX2 editor and loved the chalkboard Motif. Wanted now to switch to
tRev, which also support
this chalkboard Motif. But GLX2 and tRev cannot be installed together. As tRev
is not final (it´s an Alpha) and crashes here under windows sometimes, i
thought of doing the serious stuff with built-in editor and playing around with
tRev.

Anyway, i will switch back to GLX2 and wait for the final of tRev.

Re-2: setRegistry Dword -hex value?

 Hi Matthias,
You've been doing some things, among which is trying to represent the DWORD
value as a string to be written. It will need to be binary converted as
integers, so you will need to do a bit of converting to get the value
 stored
 and retrieved:

 put HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DameWare Development\NT Utilities\DNTU\
 DWRCC
 Settings\Connect To Client\Port0 into tKey2
put 17F2 into tHex
--or put 6130 into tDecimal
--you need to be working with the binary conversion
--of the value represented either way

put binaryEncode(I*,baseConvert(tHex,16,10)) into tBinary

--or if you already have the decimal value, just use that directly
--put binaryEncode(I*,tDecimal) into tBinary

--set the registry key using the binary encoded value
get setregistry(tKey2,tBinary,dword)
put it

--To retrieve the value in the key, it will need decoding from binary:

put queryRegistry(tKey2,tType) into tValue
--tType is an optional placeholder variable name and
--the type of the key being queried will be returned
--in that variable name. It's irrelevant in this specific
--example as you already know it's a DWORD type

get binaryDecode(I*,tValue,tDecimal)
--tDecimal is a placeholder variable for the result, you don't put
 binaryDecode(I*,tValue) into tDecimal

put baseConvert(tDecimal,10,16) into tHex
--get the hex back if you need it

setRegistry Dword -hex value?

2009-08-19 Thread runrev260805
Hi,

I tried it now in several ways, but always without success.

I use the following commands, which do not work. The value of Port 0 after that
is 32463731 (hex) or 843462449 (decimal).

put 17f2 into tHex

put HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DameWare Development\NT Utilities\DNTU\DWRCC
Settings\Connect To Client\Port 0 into tKey

get setregistry(tKey2,tHex,dword)
put it

Tried also 0x17f2. But then i got invalid dword-value (32-bit)) in the
value field of Port 0.

Trying to put the decimal value 6130 into Port 0, shows a deciaml value of
808661302 in Port 0.

In all case it reports True.

What am i doing wrong?

Aha! Got it, thanks. It does work, as long as you don't have the
NoScript Firefox extension installed. NoScript apparently thinks it's a
cross-scripting attempt and blocks it. When it isn't installed, revGoURL
works. Thanks for making me test again.

 Yes, that works too.

The down side is that both methods open in a new tab. I'd rather it
 acted like a regular link.

Oh geez, Matthias I haven't had a chance to read the list for a while
and just caught this, so I hope I can still help after all this time has
 passed.

Anyway, here's what you need to do:

Instead of this line of code that you have right now:

 .Workbooks.OpenText sInPath, , , ,xlTextQualifierNone,,,True
 ,Array(Array(1, 2), Array(2,2), Array(3,2), Array(4,2), Array(5,2),
 Array(6,1), Array(7,1), Array(8,1), Array(9,1), Array(10,1),
 Array(11,1), Array(12,2))

pass this one instead (watch the line breaks):

 .Workbooks.OpenText sInPath, , , xlDelimited,xlTextQualifierNone,,,
 True,Array(Array(1, 2), Array(2,2), Array(3,2), Array(4,2), Array(5,2),
 Array(6,1), Array(7,1), Array(8,1), Array(9,1), Array(10,1),

OT: Any VBS, VBA, Excel specialist out there who might help?

2009-07-23 Thread runrev260805

Hi,

i am having a problem converting a CSV file to excel.

My csv file is structured like this:

ArtNr;ShortDescription;LongDescription;ManufactureNo;EAN;Manufacturer;Stock
010002;Epson LQ300; Epson LQ 300 Matrixdrucker;C11C63800;8715946316949;Epson;2

There is no text delimiter. The field delimiter is ; . The list
contains about 4000 lines with 13 columns. The ArtNo can contain
leading zeros.

In the past (exactly until the 14th july) i converted this csv file
unattended with a vbs file in revolution via get shell. This worked
without any problems. But now the excel file is garbled. Each
character of the ArtNo for example is put in one seperate column.

Importing the file into Excel 2007 manually - with the import wizard
where i have to define the field delimiter and the type of the columns
(standard, text and so on) - works without problens.

So the CSV file seems to be ok. But for whatever reason my vbs script
seems not to work any more.

My vbs file looks like this

'CSV2XLS.vbs

Const xlTextQualifierDoubleQuote = 1

Is there something wrong with my script. I am not very familiar with vbs.
The conversion has to be done unattended every 60 minutes from 07:00am
to 08:00pm.

At the moment i am lost :-(

Re: Install Gadget Users?

2009-07-03 Thread runrev260805
Hi Scott,

tried it here under windows for you.

I created the files license-german.txt , license-french.txt and
license-english.txt.

The created installer then let me choose between these languages during
installation.

I think you only created license-french.txt . If only one license file is in
the folder,
then installgadget creates an installer only for that language.

In the folder C:\Program Files\InstallGadget\compiler you find 2 bmp-files
(WizModernImage.bmp and WizModernSmallImage.bmp), which you should be able to
replace.

Btw: InstallGadget uses the free InstallerMaker Innosetup
http://www.jrsoftware.org/isinfo.php .

I was already thinking about replacing the innosetup files from InstallGadget
with the newest version of InnoSetup to support more languages.

HTH

Matthias

 A little off topic...

I am looking at getting ahold of Install Gadget to create a Windows
installer for a Rev app -- I know a few folks on the list use it. Does
anyone know how to switch the language during an installation (or if this
 is
possible)? I've read the docs about including multiple license files, but
once an installer is created and run, I don't see any means to switch the
language (in fact, the installation starts up in French on a US system).

Also, is it possible to change the installer's appearance at all, even just
 changing the sidebar images?

 Thanks for any suggestions.

very nice. Bill is right, very addictive.

It would be nice, if there would be some waring sound for new aircrafts

Watched the highscore. Cannot imagine, how people landed 129 aircrafts. It
seems they are more playing than working ;-)

My best was 12. Thanks for sharing it.

Re-2: [ANN] ETag include for On-Rev (was Re: Compare files between on-rev and local versions)

2009-06-22 Thread runrev260805
Hi Stephen,

Andre, I notice that you use the .inc suffix for on-rev includes. I know
that's the convention for PHP includes, unfortunately, that suffix will not
allow the on-rev client to read or edit the file, even though it contains
code. I'm assuming you are using your own tools for on-rev development.

you can add inc under Text Types in preferences in the on-rev client.

Hi,

try Sarah Reichelt´s smtplibrary at http://www.troz.net/Rev/libraries.php .

Before that, i used an external commandline tool to send emails with

But now i had the time to check out Sarah´s libary. I integrated it in all my
report apps, which send automatic emails with attachements.

A request just came to me to build a desktop app that would allow you to
drag a photo onto it. pop up a dialog box, to enter text and then send
out an email to a discreet list of pre-determined addresses.

This does not need to be cross platform, just work on a mac.OS X.. I've
already build apps that use PostFix on the local box to send out emails,
and but the attachment part is tricky.

I will look up Sean's email lib's but before digging in I was wondering
if anyone had anything on the shelf already finished that I can start with.
