Re: [OT] Re: What's Up With RevCon West?
Jacque, I can smell the memories... We used to live in Diamond Bar (CA) up on a hill overlooking the valley between us Cal Poly Pomona. Great vantage point for watching 4th of July fireworks as long as one had a gas mask. OTOH, there's always sunny SoCal in San Diego County... We've got Legoland the beach! We could all go visit the stockyards after hours... If I close my eyes and try real hard, I can already see them now. Wait, what's that smell? I'm drifting off topic here now, but my high school was the old capital building (before they yanked the capital away and put it in Lincoln,) located on a hill overlooking downtown Omaha, just past which was the Cudahy meatpacking plant (now closed) and their stockyards. Every fine spring day we'd sit in our non-air-conditioned classrooms with the windows wide open, and the..um...aroma of the cattle (or what was left of them) would gently waft through the windows. It builds character, I tell you. You're a Texan, you should know about cattle. ;) My grandpa used to deliver dead cows to the yards in an old pickup truck. After accompanying him once at the age of five, my father never did get over it and became a vegetarian for life. Most of us these days are pretty divorced from where our food comes from. On a brighter note, Omaha does have the Henry Doorly Zoo, which is one of the best in the country (and it really does take several days to see it all.) And the botanical gardens. And I'm sure there's other stuff there that smells better too. :) We return you now to your regularly scheduled Revolution discussion. -- Jacqueline Landman Gay | [EMAIL PROTECTED] HyperActive Software | http://www.hyperactivesw.com ___ use-revolution mailing list use-revolution@lists.runrev.com Please visit this url to subscribe, unsubscribe and manage your subscription preferences: http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-revolution ___ use-revolution mailing list use-revolution@lists.runrev.com Please visit this url to subscribe, unsubscribe and manage your subscription preferences: http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-revolution

I vote for Kentucky! No - how about Vieanna, or Belrin, London, or Istanbul? More seriously can we not have a networked conference - that is smaller local and more personal and low cost spaces for real space meet ups - but conected online where talks can be screened? From a community point of view more of us could attend, and from a promotional point of view the emphasis on online and media rich Rev based content would be more effective than any real space event. I'm organising a few of these events in the Spring - between Germany and USA, possibly involving a number of other centres in the University setting. The aim is to use what the US called Internet2 - http://international.internet2.edu/partners/ so that video can be shared transparently between sites. Linking in with this and Josh's suggestion... ___ use-revolution mailing list use-revolution@lists.runrev.com Please visit this url to subscribe, unsubscribe and manage your subscription preferences: http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-revolution

Re: [OT] Re: What's Up With RevCon West?
Stephen, LOL You know Stephen, I can do networked dinners now... all it takes is low latency on the network and a very synchronized crew. I like the idea of some networked experiments. I was going to vote about RevCon Mayhem, I mean, RevCon South and have it here in Brazil during the carnival but the idea of trying some get together on the network is cool. I really liked the online scripting conferences, we should have them on a bi-weekly basis. cheers On Dec 22, 2006, at 9:32 PM, Stephen Barncard wrote: GREAT IDEA. not as cool as having a drink and Dinner with Andre however... Well each to their own! I'd organise a parallel event somewhere, and would try my hardest to avoid hippy connotations - though I usually fail - http://www.monochrom.org/flowerbank/index-en.htm I'd prefer a serious demonstration of Rev and internet connected apps applied to both the user community and as a promotional tool fro RunRev. ___ use-revolution mailing list use-revolution@lists.runrev.com Please visit this url to subscribe, unsubscribe and manage your subscription preferences: http://lists.runrev.com/mailman/listinfo/use-revolution
