Re: Mail sending error in openmeetings server
Hi Ali, I have followed the guidelines provided by the openmeetings documentation which is as follows- A valid example to configure the mail server with Gmail, is as follows: (replace j...@gmail.com with your real Gmail account) Mail-Refer == i...@gurucoool.com SMTP-Server == smtp.gmail.com SMTP-Server Port (default Smtp-Server Port is 25) == 587 SMTP-Username == i...@gurucoool.com SMTP-Userpass == password of i...@gurucoool.com (this is the one I use to open the mail box at i...@gurucoool.com) Enable TLS in Mail Server Auth == ...turn green the button to activate Default Language == English ...the rest you can change it as you likes. However can it would be a great help if you can clarify what actually you mean by the following- Host name is wrong or Connection security is wrong or service is not available or Thanks Jitendra On Thu, 24 Dec 2020 at 11:24, Ali Alhaidary wrote: > Hi, > > It is either: > > Host name is wrong or > SMTP server name is wrong or > Port number is wrong or > Connection security is wrong or > User name is wrong or > pass word is wrong or > service is not available or > some of the above or > all of the above > > Try searching the mailing list, the solution is there as you need to check > each and every one ... > > :-) > > > On 12/23/20 2:18 PM, GuruCoool Learnings wrote: > > Hi, > I am facing mail sending error in my openmeetings server. Tried both 587 and 465 one by one but didn't find any solution. However thanks for your replies. I have one more query. generally openmeetings generates user specific invitation links. Okay but entering any specific email is again a user specific invite link. I wanted to create an invite link that is not user specific and can be shared with multiple anonymous users and they can enter my room with their own names. Is this possible? Hello dear Maxim, By security options, do you mean Forwarding and POP/IMAP in my Gmail? If yes, I have enabled it already. If no, then please guide me what exactly I need to do for correct security options. Also, you mentioned about firewall settings, please guide me on this also. I was trying to check the ports by the command netstat -a -n and made no change there. After that I just restarted the server and unfortunately, the server is not accessible. It says,"This site can’t be reached". I don't know what to do now. Re: Mail sending error in openmeetings server
I tried everything that I could do as per knowledge. I tried the following- As per the suggestion by https://www.hostinger.in/tutorials/smtp-port-587, I disabled firewall by "sudo ufw disable", Checking with ISP (although the same problem occurs with different ISPs). As per the suggestion by http://ubuntuguide.net/install-and-enable-telnet-server-in-ubuntu-linux, I installed telnet server and made every change as suggested except step 5 (I couldn't find that file). Checked if IMAP is enabled on my gmail service. Now I have no more ways to try to resolve the issue. Any help or suggestion is appreciated. Okay. Thanks Max for your reply. I am still seeking suggestions on it. I would like to explain again my requirements here- 1. Since most of my students attend live online classes on their smartphones and OM meetings run on browsers so it is a requirement that they can see the session full screen. 2. I also want them to be able to zoom in and out as per requirements directly touching the screen may be that is the whiteboard area. I agree with you Jox. I also advocate attending live classes on laptop/desktop but I can only suggest them. Another fact is that many of my students don't own laptops/desktops and cannot afford one. I am thankful to the OM-team to provide such a great platform for free to the society due to which it is possible for everyone to get affordable education online. Sessions/users record in a room
Hi, Does OM record attendance of users in a session, date/time/duration of sessions in a room? If yes, where can I find these records? Regards Jitendra
Schedule for Auto-recording
Hi, Usually, a teacher enters a room before the scheduled time of the session for preparation purposes but the teacher may not need recording of that. Is there a possibility to schedule the recording to auto start at the scheduled time of the session? Please guide if this facility is available in the current build or what type of modifications are needed. Thanks and regards Jitendra Jha
Re: unexpected session termination
I have been experiencing the same issue. Whenever it happens, recording doesn't get saved, whiteboard resets automatically. Once I restart the server, it starts working again. Extra Permission is required to play the video
Hi, I am conducting a class on my om server (2 GB RAM and 1 CPU) with 5 students at a time. There are some behaviours of om that I am unable to understand and I need help with this- 1. Sometimes (not always) a pop-up opens at the start of a room that says, "Extra permission is required to play the video, Press OK to allow playing.". Once a student clicks OK, the teacher's video starts. 2. Not all of the 5 students get audio/video properly. Sometimes audio/video doesn't connect even if only one student is in the class. Any clue will be a great help. Thanks and regards Jitendra Jha
How to use Interview room

Re: Extra Permission is required to play the video
As a teacher I use Windows 10 with Chrome browser and I suggest all my students to use chrome (updated) only. Some of my students use windows 10 while some use Android smartphones. Re: Extra Permission is required to play the video
This is insightful. I have noticed a few cases where 5 to 6 students are connected and class goes without any audio/video issues while in some cases, only one student connects with audio issue even after browser settings, site settings, camera, mic etc permissions allowed. What can the other reasons behind it?
