 Hi Fredrik,

Catching up after a short absence...
Wow, yes please I'll have to study the code now that you put all this
 work into it!
My method belongs in the dinosaur age but hey, it works ;)

Meanwhile I rendered a few more cellar images, I'd like to make the
navigation more intuitive and add views from more directions.

 Thanks,
 Mark

Ok, since I had nothing better to do, I stitched the other images back
together too. I think that my copy now shows just about the same as
your original, Mark. But now using the approach that doesn't require
hacking the images to pieces. Feel free to copy the files from here
for further assessment and perhaps use:
 http://files.apan.is-a-geek.com/RS3DIC/Athanor/wwwroot/index.html (I
can send them in a zip for you if that is more convenient, let me
 know)

Of course, for things like the highligthed models in the expo, you
still need to do some cutting and fine tuning of positions, but I
think it will be easier this way regardless. A little suggestion for
those: I think that using a file format with transparency support,
read PNG, you could use Photoshop or equivalent to use a soft eraser
around the edges of the highlighted images. That way they will blend
 smoothly into the background.

I might have made som mistakes in page titles and alternative image
texts, you might want to check those in the respective HTML files.
Also, I hope that I am correct in assuming that the pages for the
RS-room and the exhibition of Rechts aren't ready yet and that
this is why the links are broken.

Oh, I admit that I got a bit lazy about the rotated arrows. Of course
you can make any number of various rotations of the arrow, just use
one of the arrows I used, with transparent background, and rotate that
if you want to make the appearance exactly like your original.

 Best regards,
 Fredrik

Works nicely. Procedurals can be great: no tiling, no lost
textures... it just takes some time to come up with something
interesting It's amazing what's possible by combining noise and
cells, I've spent whole evenings playing with these (and cellular,
scratches and bricks of course). Any plans to animate it or place it
in its natural habitat?

Natural habitat maybe, but I'd rather not animate it: the render times
are too long.

We came to the conlusion that these things live in shallow water and
grab on to your gonads when you swim there. The purple things have
strong neurotoxins and acids in them, so basically it immobilizes (or
kills) you and then melts and eats your nether regions.

Interesting species, a perfect present for the neighbours!

Re: SSS test subject - some related Messiah info on same etc

2006-11-22 Thread Aidan O Driscoll

Hi Guys,

As a parallel [ and maybe to Jean-Sebastien's Shagrin :) ] I was doodling
with SSS [ Sub Surface Scattering ] in MESSIAH. Delighted to see Timo
developing an SSS Shader for RS as I was exporting RS Models via OBJ into
Messiah to doodle with. At the MESSIAH forum over at CGTALK their is a big
thread devoted to SSS in Messiah, but with some really nice observations
and info which would apply to SSS in general, worth a read for those
interested:

http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=377706page=1pp=15highlight=subsurface

This was started by Gary Chike. Some nice SSS renders through out. I said
this to TIMO at the IRC, he had a look too.

The hand mesh used at this thread throughout can be downloaded from:

http://shapes.aim-at-shape.net/viewgroup.php?id=354#

This if you want a go at Timo's Shader with the hand for comparison. Heres
a link to Timos shaders etc:

 http://3ddart.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2file=viewtopicp=6523#6523

Their now you have the complete RS SSS Starter kit. No doubt Timo will
update his shader as he goes. Great work Timo TA VERY MUCH!

Cheers
Aidan

I came to Realsfot in the hope of becoming the King of Realsfot community.

Why you want that? I think it is more worthfully to be a king at
creating nice pictures and animations. Look, the girls are not
interested in how you set up the NURBS to produce a specific surface and
than use displacement mapping to form the geometry and then setup up a

Realsoft3D, and this 3D-grafx at all, has a so wide spectrum,

Look, one of my first technically playfields with Realsoft3D was this
thing with distributed rendering. I have set upped a small network

machines where mainly used as web- and e-mailservers. So, no OpenGL,
no GUI-libs, even no X11! I have written a small diary about that:

It has some erros, yes. But, it is only a notepad for me.

So, if someone has a question about distributed rendering, I hopefully
have something to say.

Do you understand NOW, why I don't want the list to be archived?

Yes, but, if you give information to someone else, the information is
out of your control! Most often!

LOL don't take this post seriously. : )

Yes, of course. :-)

We should return back to 3D related subject.

Of course, at the moment I am waiting for the specification of the
invironment for which I should and want create graphics. This will be
nice and funny!

So how do you create a scene with 10 000 cars and GI?

Rotator produces instances, normal GI rendering.

How do you make 2 character do wrestling.

Creating one wrestler with a skeleton. Duplicate him. Change some
materials on the duplicate. Switch on collision detection and - FIGHT!

How long will it takes to render to IMAX 8000x8000 resolution?

Simply load your favorite scene, setup a resolution 8kx8k Pixel and
render.

Can you playback 1920x1080 non compressed animation?

Create such an animation, like the simply sphere animation out of the
manual, and test it.

What do you think Realsoft 8.0 will look like?

This question wouldn't result in worthfully answers I think. Actually,
we are at version 5!

How do I export a women created in Realsoft to reality?

I think, there's someone here who uses RS3D to recreate Tron. So, he
could know to scan, and to re-scan a person into a computer and back.

Is there a supercomputer with Realsoft in paradise?

Yes, it's here, it's the net.

a very latent response : Garry,Thanks for the tutorials,
I worked with these concepts extensively when
it was being initially discussed. Nice to have an organized
resource, in a familiar format, to refer back to.

Hi Zaug , and thanks for the feedback ! I so agree about
the HTML format . Let me re-post the (very flawed) HTML
Tutorial Template's URL , in case everyone is ignoring it

 Hi All :

Thanks to some gentle and very effective suggestions by
Robert Den Broeder I've redone the Planetary Project .

  http://www.studiodynamics.net/tutes/planet1.html

Please check it out , as I've added a dozen or so Real-
Soft V5 renders to it , as well as much more detailed step-by
-step procedures for arriving at some very cool results (I think).
Download it , have a look and see what you think .

Man , he is good . I only wish I could inspire others to
create the way Robert does . Not just by the very , very help-
ful tips he offered me privately , but by the calibre of Real-
soft web site he maintains modestly and unselfishly .

That's pure devotion on Roberts part , and it really works .

Thanks again Rob , I only wish I could inspire others to
simply take the time to share the way you so humbly do so
 well .

This Bud's for you !
