Re: KVM hypervm and HA

2017-07-12 Thread Audrey Roberto B Baldin
Hello Victor,

As far as I tested the HA in KVM, it only get in action if:

i. The computing offer you are using to create the guest VM has the Offer HA
flag on;
ii. The KVM should crash unexpectedly;

To force a crash you can simulate a kernel panic using the command: echo c >
/proc/sysrq-trigger.

I had some issues that one KVM agent, for some unknown reason, was
disconnecting from the orchestrator, although it was working and the guest VM
were running. In this situation I couldn't do anything with the guests VMs
(move, reload, shutdown) and the HA didn't work.

Hope you find this information useful.

Regards,
Audrey

You should mark VM service offering as HA-enabled and ACS will start vms
automatically. VR, SSVM, CP VMs are also started automatically as needed.

Re: Billing for services

2016-11-28 Thread Audrey Roberto B Baldin
Thank for all the help about billing services.

After some initial troubleshooting we could put the usage service to work. For
some reason it was not populating the cloud_usage database but we could fix it.

I would like to know if you could help me understand some entries in the
database. Most of them are pretty easy to understand, but one in particular I
could not figure out.

When I check for the Network Usage (Bytes Sent/Bytes Received) (usagetypeid
4/5), when I look to values regarding the DomainRouter (type=DomainRouter), is
it a measure only for the Public Network traffic or a sum of every interface
for that particular VR (or VPC in my case)?

Dear Audrey,

Here is the man page of the usage service :
http://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/projects/cloudstack-administration/en/4.8/usage.html

You have 2 settings that might help you :

1/ usage.stats.job.exec.time
2/ usage.stats.job.aggregation.range

Best Regards.

I'm looking into the cloud_usage database, but it appears that some information
are missing, like they are not sync'ed with the production system.

I look into the accounts table for example, and can't find all accounts that
exists in the same table in the cloud database.

Is there any way to sync the data?

Dear Audrey,

The starting point would be to install and start the cloudstack usage service
(I think this step is well documented inside CS installation guide).
Basically, this service will collect and agregate usage for most CS metrics
(Instance running, storage, network, etc).
These metrics are then stored inside a MySQL DB (cloud_usage).

You can easily export these values directly from Mysql to Excel
(http://support.en.ctx.org.cn/ctx132030.citrix).

The second option (recommanded) is to use cloudstack API to get usage and
manage them with third part apps.

I personnaly tested Amysta few months ago, and it was pretty good.

I've been reading some presentations from ShapeBlue about, but still coudn't

But I'm not sure, for example, if the usage service can show bandwidth usage

Billing for services

2016-11-24 Thread Audrey Roberto B Baldin
Hi there,

How can we get billing information from cloudstack?

If a customer is using a VPC, is it possible to get information of how much
traffic he is consuming in the public network and the private gateway? I don't
intend to bill for the traffic between VMs.

Thanks for your help!

Re: VPC Issue - ACS-4.6.0-1

2015-12-11 Thread Audrey Roberto B Baldin
I had already open an issue in JIRA (CLOUDSTACK-9089) for this problem, but I'm
using version 4.5.2.

When we configure the static route using either the UI or cloudmonkey,
everything seems right, but the route is not activated in VR.

I needed to access the VR console and configure the static route manually.

Vadim,

I will use VPC also, but in my initial tests (CS 4.5.2), when I tried to
configure a static route to a private gateway, using the UI or cloudmonkey, the

Dear Remi,

My apologize to mislead Audrey with notations - problem were
with VPC, not VR. Voting process for 4.6 release was also very
difficult. Of course official release will be stabilized, but from user
perspective I will say the same to Aundery - 4.6 will not solve his
problem with OVS plugin and probably will bring more problems than
4.5.2. May be this is just fear before release, but this is my personal
fear - I will wait until 4.6.1 definitely. My 4.5.2 VPC works too good
to take a risk of immediate update :)

Hi Vadim, thanks for your help.

After reading your message I remembered of the plugin area of CS and yes, the
OVS plugin is missing. So I ask: Why is it missing? I had seen it before (CS

Is it possible to instal the OVS plugin? Where can I find it?

Does CS 4.6 has the plugin out-of-the-box?

Hello Audrey,

 Look at this document:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CLOUDSTACK/PVLAN+for+isolation+within+a+VLAN
XenServer uses OVS and CS have OVS pluging to work with. OVS plugin
for cloudstack hasn't been updated for a long time as I know. At my CS
4.5.2 this plugin is missing, though in older versions of CS it was
present. I think this functionality does not work for XenServer 6.5. Use
VLANs - it is more reliable.

Vadim.

CS 4.5 + XEN 6.5 using bond and pvlan

2015-11-17 Thread Audrey Roberto B Baldin
Hello everybody!

I installed CS 4.5.2 and I'm using XEN 6.5. There is one NIC dedicated for
Public traffic, one for MGMT + Secondary Storage, one for Primary Storage and a
bond configured for the Guest traffic. Zone is installed as Advanced without
Security Groups.

When I add a Guest Network with PVLAN, the network is created, but when I try
to create a new instance it does not start. I realized that the virtual router
also does not start. Adding a Guest Network without PVLAN works as expected.

Does anyone have an idea about it?

Looking into the log I could find the information below:
