Re: [libreoffice-users] 1 Column Header (Chapter Heading) Across 2 Column Page?
At 19:58 05/01/2012 -0800, J Patterson wrote: I read in the documentation but it doesn't work, that you can create a single column section that goes across an 8.5x11" page, and then after that, you can set the page to 2 columns. I mean, you can do that, but it subsumes the Section into one of the columns, not allowing it to spread across the whole page. You should not need the first section: the full-width part can just be a normal part of your document. I am wanting to do a Chapter Opening page, different from my other pages, and have the chapter heading go all the way across the top, but still have a 2 column body page. I have created a 2 col section before and left the base page as single column, and that worked, but I constantly had to watchdog the section from bleeding over to the next page, so that is not my preferred solution to this. Is there a way for a Section to pass across both columns of a page? Forget the section for the first part, and make the rest of your document or chapter - the part that you want to be in two columns - a section. But - here's the trick - set the two-column property not to the page but to that *section* itself. You will find a Columns tab in the Section dialogues too. I trust this helps. OK, this is more like a question that needs a good answer. 3.3.4 and 3.4.4 are both listed as final versions. What it should be included, besides the date, is what those two versions represents. 3.3.4 is the last of that "line". It is a stable release that some people use for the business version of LO. 3.4.4 is the current line, with 1 or 2 version left of that line. It was used as the "cutting edge" line/version for LO when the 3.3.x line was still being worked on. I would love to see some better descriptions for each "final" version of LO. When 3.5.0 comes out, will there be 3 "final" versions listed? As of Feb 14th 2012 there should be the following "final" version out - with final being the current versions that are not in RC status. 3.3.4 3.4.5 3.5.0 That will make it even more confusing for people. How about 3.3.4 - Business version - the old reliable version 3.4.4 / 3.4.5 - Personal version and cutting edge business version 3.5.0 - must cutting edge version for experiments. -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

I've tested this issue in 3.4.4 Calc and Impress too and it seems that the global shortcut Ctrl+Alt+F (find and replace) is stubbornly persistent in all, Calc only deletions of default shortcuts persist, but Impress only deletions do not. How do I contact the developers to ask if they've addressed this issue for 3.5? [libreoffice-users] Re: MySQL Connector Extension
Le 06/01/12 11:58, Tom Davies a écrit : Hi Tom, You have misunderstood my point. I am not in a position to support requests for help from people on non-tested systems. For one, I simply don't have the time, it is hard enough just finding machine time to "produce" the connector, and carry out summary testing that it works on version XYZ of LO (or not as the case may be). Second, I don't have the time, processing power, or desire to potentially screw up my current mysql production servers on MacOSX with an alleged "drop in" replacement. Indeed, a review of : http://downloads.askmonty.org/mariadb/5.3/ http://kb.askmonty.org/en/installation-issues-with-php5 http://kb.askmonty.org/en/mariadb-versus-mysql-compatibility shows that not only is there _no_ MacOSX binary version available, but also, even assuming I were able to build MariaDB from source, install it and get it to run, I would encounter issues with my current PHP5 setup. Sorry, that's a no go for me, let somebody with more time and energy on their hands to give it a try, and then on top of that try building the mysql connector extension within LibreOffice so that it picks up the changed mariadb client library names. I have no animosity towards MariaDB, as far as I'm concerned, from the blurb, it appears to be a fairly coherent follow-on to mysql by one of the original creators, but I'm not going to broadcast or advertise for an as yet untested database solution on my work OS, which is MacOSX. Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: MySQL Connector Extension
Hi :) This is going in circles. By that way of thinking no-one will try the connector with MariaDb if they don't know it will work. Why would anyone using LibreOffice try MariaDb if TDF people, such as yourself, are heavily promoting older proprietary brands and rejecting OpenSource forks? Refusing to mention MariaDb severely limits the usefulness of the connector. There is another way of thinking! On this list we only hear of people when they have problems. So far no-one has written in to say they have had a problem with the connector with MariaDb. We have only had a few people write in to complain of problems with the connector with MySql. How would we ever know that the connector does work if it keeps on working just fine? We only know about things after they have broken and then been fixed. If it's not broken we wouldn't hear about it. Otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, it is untested and I have no need to mention it, irrespective of whatever the Oracle history/saga is. [libreoffice-users] 1 Column Header (Chapter Heading) Across 2 Column Page?
Hello, I have been having trouble with this and would appreciate any help. I read in the documentation but it doesn't work, that you can create a single column section that goes across an 8.5x11" page, and then after that, you can set the page to 2 columns. I mean, you can do that, but it subsumes the Section into one of the columns, not allowing it to spread across the whole page. I have also tried Insert Break and Column, but all that does is jump from one column to the next, so also not what I want. I have created a frame that goes across the page - can I place a Section inside of it, and it will be picked up by the Chapter numbering of LO, for when I build my table of contents?
