The one[s] I have installed, with 4.0.0, shows similar terms. For belly it shows several types of nouns and verb replacements for that word/term. I also know that there are adjectives and adverbs listed for some words. These may be listed by other thesaurus systems as synonym, derivatives, kind of, kinds, and parts. I have even seen the term of domain listed under the term relatives. So, we have the synonyms and other relatives. As for antonyms, well I have not looked at a lot of words in the thesaurus system/file[s] I use, but we are dependent on others to create these for us. Actually, my book thesaurus is a Roget's 21st Century Thesaurus and I do not see antonyms listed for the words I looked at. As far as I know, most of the dictionary and thesaurus options are based on the WordNet and Hunspell format and offerings. We rely on these free offerings, and others, to be able to have language aids included in LibreOffice. SO, please tell us what is used by a librarian/library as a reference thesaurus. I would like to know. What do you mean by real thesaurus used by librarians. Also, I use an offline dictionary[definitions] and thesaurus called Artha that I use on my Ubuntu/Linux and Windows systems. This is free, like LibreOffice. Hi :) Don't worry about saying something is wrong or troublesome and then finding the best way afterwards. Just if you do fix your own issues please let the list know so that we don't keep trying to help solve an issue that you have already solved yourself. If something is not intuitive then it might help other people learn how to use LibreOffice better. Sometimes things might be more intuitive to people that haven't grown used to weird ways used by competitors, in which case it helps us anticipate questions other people might ask while they are migrating too. OpenSource has a reputation for rude answers such as Rtfm with no useful links or anything. However a lot of the gateway projects such as LibreOffice, Ubuntu, Firefox and others tend to be a LOT more friendly Regards from Tom :) From: Kevin O'Brien zwil...@zwilnik.com To: users@global.libreoffice.org Sent: Monday, 4 March 2013, 13:41 Subject: Re: [libreoffice-users] Moving list items and re-numbering Thank you. Re: [libreoffice-users] definition of flat/relational database
Hi :) I thought Queries were in Sql but Base mostly allows you to build them up in a gui rather than having to learn the Sql that it gets translated into? I learned a little Sql but not enough to be useful so i prefer using the pointclick type gui. Also Base is a bit different form MS's version in that forms are best done in Writer and that makes it easier to format forms decently without having to learn a complicated and different gui. Access's forms seemed to switch the Alt and Ctrl keys around for thing like selecting fields and stuff. Quite possibly i have completely missed the point. I got confused by that 1st sentence. Is there soem attempt to reinvent the wheel rather than use Qt libraries (or whatever) for pop-up boxes and stuff? Re: [libreoffice-users] Side notes aka Side titles
The way I do it is insert a text frame into the margin (Insert/Frame). You can size the frame and move it to your liking. Then, double-click inside the frame and you can insert text. Virgil -Original Message- From: Farlie A Sent: Monday, March 04, 2013 8:32 AM To: users@global.libreoffice.org Subject: [libreoffice-users] Side notes aka Side titles In a number of reports, and especially in Commonwealth legislation I've encountered side titles, which are a form of sidenote which appears in one of the margins, with the main text content of the document adjusted accordingly. In looking through the menu options in Libre Office, I didn't find an option to insert these. So I am asking if there is a currently a straightforward way to set these up before I consider a possible feature request. -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
