For the avoidance of doubt, you are suffering from selective memory! There
were (and are?) supporters of the current arrangement. I know, because I'm
 one.

Just for once I actually remembered to click Reply All, but now I
don't care any more. I hardly even bother to reply at all, most of the

don't bother to correct it – I have a life).
If that's what's people want, fine with me.

Hi :)
Crashes are not normal and shouldn't be happening so often.  If they happen at
all then it should be rare and should be due to the user doing something dumb
that they notice and makes them think oops, didn't mean to do that or
deliberately killing the process.

My machines are lower spec and don't suffer from crashes like this.

It might be good to post a bug-report but please use one of the drop-downs to
make it clear it's a feature request rather than a real bug.  The real bug is
whatever is causing the crash.

I am afraid, I do not understand what force a system check during
loading of files means / or how that is done.
All I get is a screen reading:
Due to an unexpected error LO crashed. All files ... saved. ... and
recorvery automatically at the next start (somewhat abbreviated)
Then - click SAVE
Start recovery? - click recover
after a while: Finished
click that and the file opens again

There are no other choices I have or operations I can do.

I also tried to save the file under a different name in a different
location: no effect
Deleted an index at the end of the file (just a thought): no effect
As Mr. Davis suggested: turn off automatic backup - this has been off
Save AutoRecovery information every is set at 15 minutes
LO DOES save the file in regular intervals, but I cannot find where to
change that.

I also tried the switching to web layout with small files containing
only text like Mr. Davis did
and in this case (at least not during the short test period) LO did NOT
crash.
Is there a setting, where I can choose whether images are displayed or not?

Maybe its really time for that bug report - if I manage to figure out
how that is done.

[libreoffice-users] template menu

2013-07-03 Thread Thomas Blasejewicz
Good afternoon
The last few days I upgraded from 3.6 something to 4.0.4.
And this morning I noticed the template menu is gone.

One of my computers has still 3.6 on it and there it is under Files -
Templates.
That's also where the extension items for the extension template
changer appeared.

After along search I found, that the template changer can now only be
found in an unmarked grave
= empty white space with a black triangle at its right margin BELOW File
- Exit.

But so far I was not able to find anything like Templates - Organize
anywhere.

Where is this now???
Or has the software advanced so far, that creating, deleting, organizing
templates etc. is now a thing of the past?

Thank you.

Hi Thomas,

I have to admit this confused me also. I don't know whether you can
simply organize anymore. From the manual:

To begin, choose *File **New **Templates***from the Menu bar to
openthe Template Manager dialog.

http://www.odfauthors.org/libreoffice/english/writer-guide/published-lo-4.0/wg4-0-ch10-templates/view

At this point you can add, modify, delete and move!

Cheers
