Alex, does this work as I expect? namely, you enter the site, and
Nautilus makes it look like it is local so that you can use commands

One of my thoughts is that if Nautilus tries to make the file look

inclined to blame Nautilus.

Which one[s] do you have and which one[s] do you want to remove?

I assume you are talking about the locked ones that are seen in the

It will be helpful to know these things.

Did you get a UAC (User Account Control) prompt asking to use elevated
privileges? If not, try right-clicking the uninstaller and selecting
Run as Administrator, and confirm the resulting UAC prompt.

On Vista onwards, even when you're logged in as an administrator most
programs still run with restricted privileges; you have to explicitly
allow them to elevate to use administrative privileges. The difference
between restricted user and administrator accounts is that restricted
users have to enter an administrator's password, while administrators
can just click yes to allow elevation. Most recent software will make
this request when it needs to, so you don't need to right-click and tell
it to run as administrator, but worth a try if for some reason it's not
asking.

I hope that helps.

Mark.

[libreoffice-users] Writer close/bug/close unexpected

Java ( TM ) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_25 - b17 )

Writer settings is the default one except for the following changes:
1 - Memory (Tools Options LibreOffice Memory )
Undo : 25
Cache images :
Use for libreoffice : 256 MB
Intended Memory : 10MB
Remove Memory : 00:10 hh : mm
Cache for inserted objects : 20

2 - Load / save (Tools Options Load / Save General)
Default file format and ODF settings :
ODF format version : 1.2

3 - Internet (Tools Options Internet Proxy )
Proxy Server : None

The documents that I'm working with about 100 to 200 sheets , they contain
indexes , images, text , header and footer, etc. .

The closing of the application happens irregularly, ie I can have 5 or 6
open Writer files or only 1.
The tasks are performed on the basic documents , copy and paste , reformat ,
convert to PDF, send to print documents , insert images and format go . Odt
to . Docx

File recovery is always done , but I can not find the point of failure.

Re: [libreoffice-users] replacing only text portions

2013-09-25 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
I tried
Ctrl shift v
to paste as unformatted text but then you would have to go through and
re-apply styles to all the headings and stuff.  So i tried as rtf and that
made an amazing mess but did get rid of the images.  Well it seemed to replace
them all with coding and weirdness but that was mostly reasonably easy to
remove.  Even so it might have been fastereasier to just paste all the images
properly and then remove the images.

So, it might be easier to do it the other way around?  Create a copy of the
document that has the wrong images and then copypaste the right images over
the top?

I couldn't seem to select multiple images from a Writer document and have
troubles with that before.  I try to use Draw if i know in advance that images
are going to be the main thing about a document but for most documents i'm a
bit stuck through lack of knowledge.  It's not really a huge enough problem for
me so i have never tried to figure it out.

Doing 1 image at a time does seem to retain the images properties, such as
hyper-links, resizing, anchor points, wrap values.  After doing several that
were Anchored to paragraph i found most positioned themselves in exactly the
right place on the page but a couple didn't.  If the images are anchored to
page they do always choose the right position.  I'm not sure about to or as
character.

It has only just occurred to me that you might be able to do this better by
hacking the odt as a zip-file.  You know you can rename the file-ending from
.odt to .zip and then when you open you see folders such as images?  Can you
copypaste the entire image folder from one to the other?  I'm not sure though.
Do the image files appear to have the same names in both documents?  If the
names are different then it probably wont work.
Regards from
Tom :)

Subject: [libreoffice-users] replacing only text portions

Good evening
I am writing a book with Writer (3.6.6.2 / Windows). In connection with
this endeavor I already asked a few questions and there are more to come ...

Well, the original is written in Japanese, about 200 pages A5 size with
60 something pictures.
Of this I have a normal Writer file with the pictures in color (ca. 45
MB).
To make a Kindle-friendly version (following Amazon instructions), I
made another file, in which I replace the color pictures by gray-scale
pictures (ca. 14 MB).

Now I have rewritten (not translated) the whole thing in German and are
in the process of editing that material.
To edit (apply corrections / changes) I use the Writer file with the
gray-scale pictures.
After I finish, I would like to COPY the entire text, including styles
and formatting, and replace the text ONLY in the old Writer file with
the Japanese text (all the formatting is kept) and the color pictures.

I tried to select all and then copy, but that also replaces the color
pictures with the gray-scale pictures. If I select the text only
option, all formatting and the pictures are lost.

Is there a trick to achieve this feat? Or do I have to copy 200 pages
worth of text piece by piece? Or, alternatively, replace 60+ pictures
one by one including all the settings that go with it?

Thank you.

Thomas

Re: [libreoffice-users] How to stop toolbars from popping up

2013-09-25 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
As mentioned in another thread on the same topic, another way is to drag those
errant tool-bars onto the blank bit at the end of an existing toolbar.  That
way (hopefully) each time the toolbar does pop-up it's out of the way but still
easy enough to reach if you do ever need it.

However if you have already gotten rid of the toolbar there is no point
bringing it back just to do that!  [salts]

I realize some people might find this helpful, but if I want a

Try this:
o Wait until the rogue toolbar appears automatically.
o Don't close it using its X Close button, but instead go to View |

That's what I needed. Thanks!

One of my thoughts is that if Nautilus tries to make the file look

be inclined to blame Nautilus.

Depending upon how far you go back this discussion has I think come up
before, I may be thinking even back to original Openoffice. I used to
have this problem on Konqurer and openSuse.
With Dolphin in the file address bar I type say
sftp://serveratwork.com/home/steve/server1/qa/qa/qms/InternalAuditDrafts2011/.
This opens a file listing as a normal directory, I can move, copy,
delete files as if local. I click on a document and it opens in LO.
If I use the LO FileOpen and enter
sftp://serveratwork.com/home/steve/server1/qa/qa/qms/InternalAuditDrafts2011/
in the address box, LO opens the directory on the server. If I click on
a file LO gives a message You can only select local files.

So from LO I can't open a remote file but through Dolphin I can.
If I Save As a remote file I see the file I opened is in a local cache.
If I change and then save the file, LO saves and then I get prompted if
I want to upload the changes. I am assuming this is by Dolphin.

So although this is not Ubuntu or Nautilus, it may give some insight how
the process may work. remote
file-Nautilus-cache-LO-cache-Nautilus-remote file. I suspect the
issue will be with Nautilus.

[libreoffice-users] Page Styles: Linked with: Enhancement

2013-09-25 Thread Raoul Becke

Hi support,

Besides that it took me some time to find out that Linked with is not
supported for page styles (because this is not documented in LibreOffice
Help but only in the writer guide) it would really be a great
enhancement if Page Styles would as well support Linked with.

Is there a plan to implement this enhancement? I searched in Nabble
Mailing List Interface but could not find a similar request (maybe I
overlooked).

Thank you kind regards
