[libreoffice-users] Sorting Sheets in Calc

2014-07-28 Thread Pat Brown
Hi,
I have a spreadsheet with about 30 tabs (sheets). I want to re-arrange
these. Is there a way to display the list and sort them as I wish without
having to drag each sheet to a new position? I know that excell has the
ability to display the sheets in a list form and one can highlight one of
these and Move Up or Move Down. This would be very useful.

Sort of. Go to Edit | Sheet | Move/Copy... (or right-click the
sheet tab and select Move/Copy Sheet...). But you can move only one
sheet at a time there.

Is your problem with dragging that you cannot see all thirty (no
doubt meaningfully labelled) sheet tabs at the same time? Note that
you can drag the separator between the tab display and the horizontal
scroll bar to make more room for the former - perhaps temporarily.
When you can see all thirty tabs at once, dragging may seem more attractive.

I trust this helps.

Absolutely, I do have that chance. Only an absolute moron who hides his

I do not think that we need to have this moved to the discuss list;
there was a perfectly normal and courteous thread that was interrupted
by the person using the pseudo Urmas who started to insult me, as
he/she has done repeatedly against many people here. I am happy to see
the courteous side of this thread continue, if needed, here. As for
myself, I'm done with this topic.

Best,

Charles.

This does raise an interesting question.

Should TABS have a sort mechanism default.
Un-Sorted with the addition of Alphabetical, by creation date, etc...

Please, please - lets calm down =) Charles is right - it makes sense to
have a consistent, findable brand: LibreOffice emphasized - it is good
to have a gentle reminder from time to time that it is good to do that
rather than using 'LO' =)

Of course, it's not the world's most burning issue - I guess that is
Urmas' point: there are plenty of other priorities; and of course there
is still a lot to do to improve LibreOffice left/right. I don't know
anyone who is satisfied with where we are. I see room for improvement
everywhere left/right. Then again to become overly obsessed by our flaws
is also unbalanced =)

Quite apart from all that it'd be helpful to be reasonably pleasant to
other people who disagree with us [ working on that myself ;-].

ATB,

Michael.
