Re: [libreoffice-users] Digital signatures

2015-10-15 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
I think post it as a bug-report.

I'm sure you are probably experienced at this but jic, and mostly for other
people to take note of ...
When you post a bug-report it's a lot like writing an email. The subject
line needs to be a very short indication of what the problem is. People
have a tendency to write something like "problem with LibreOffice" but
since all bug-reports are problems and the whole bug-reporting system is
dedicated to just LibreOffice such a line doesn't help. For this
bug-report something like "certificates, attaching self-signed or personal
ones in LO 5.0.2 in Windows", something nice and succinct. Being succinct
is NOT something i'm good at!! So, you'll probably have a better idea.

Note that you can always add extra 'emails', including attachments, to it
later. So you can post with fairly little information if you need to dig
around to find all the bits a good bug-report would need. It's better
if you can get it all together fairly quickly but doesn't all HAVE to be in
the first post = it's just better if you can.

There are several drop-down menus to set "urgency" and stuff. Mostly QA
and the devs handle that but one of them has "feature request" as one of
the options. It might be worth posting this as a feature request.

It sounds like LibreOffice can use either a "self-signed" one or a
"personal" one. I read those instructions as just advice that it's better
to use "a personal certificate".

It sounds like whichever you use is used in the same way but that if you
can use a "personal" one it is likely to be even more trusted than a
self-signed one. I think just go for a self-signed one for now unless you
already have a "personal" one = or unless you are doing this as part of the
verification process or something like that.

There is online help in the wiki and an Faq in there. If you can read
something other than English then the online help or the help built into
LibreOffice might give slightly different instructions that help you figure
out how to attach the certificates. If you only read English it still
might but the translated versions of all other documentation tends to be
better in non-English. The English version is designed to be easier to
translate. In English the best help is the published guides that you've
already read.

Tom :)

Re: [libreoffice-users] Digital signatures

2015-10-15 Thread Евгений
Hello.

"Writer 4.2 Guide" from second link.

=
Certificate Path

Note
This option appears only on Linux and Mac systems. On Windows, LibreOffice uses
the default Windows location for storing and retrieving certificates.

Users can digitally sign documents using LibreOffice. A digital signature
requires a personal
signing certificate. Most operating systems can generate a self-signed
certificate. However, a
personal certificate issued by an outside agency (after verifying an
individual's identity) has a
higher degree of trust associated with it than does a self-signed certificate.
LibreOffice does not
provide a secure method of storing these certificates, but it can access
certificates that have
been saved using other programs. Click Certificate and select which certificate
store to use.
=

Is it mean, that in LO i can use only self-signed certificates to sign
documents?

My problem is that LO do not add my certificate, but can see it in certificate
store (i try it on windows).
Is it bug and i should report it or this is normal behavior?

Hi :)
+1
Most email clients have such threading. Thunderbird, Claws and Evolution
do. "The Bat!" (for Windows) does. Gmail is not really an email client as
you tend to create a new email address to use it, but it does the
conversations/threading thing by default too.

Hotmail (that's an MS one right?) and Microsoft Outlook and Yahoo don't.
Well, Yahoo might by now but the Micorosoft ones haven't caught up with the
rest of the world yet.

I found that moving from unthreaded to threaded was a HUGE help. Before
that i'd been struggling with every single email!! A complete nightmare.
Now i can see the whole thread/conversation and which issues have already
been dealt with and which issues could maybe do with a bit more work. It's
drastically cut the amount of emails i write :))

As with any new system it took me a while to work it out and a little
longer to really start benefiting from it. Much the same as when i took a
touch-typing course, initially my speeds plummeted but quite soon after i
was really glad i'd made the switch. When i finally managed to get all my
emails being pulled into my GMail account it really "polished off" my
migration. At first i "kept all the email on the server" so they were
still in Yahoo and being duplicated in GMail but once i was confident (took
me about a week) i switched that around so that they get deleted from Yahoo
if they make it into GMail. I still have my Yahoo account but i rarely
ever even sign into it except to change the password and just check.

I'm not saying this to advertise Gmail. Many, many email systems have this
functionality. The main thing is to move away from total reliance on
Microsoft ones by using any of them.

I suspect that a lot of Alexander's problem with this mailing list is that
he is still stuck on Hotmail.

Tom :)

Hi :)
That is weird. GMane is meant to work well with this mailing list.

In GMail Anne-ology's replies do appear to be part of the same
conversation/thread. Gmail doesn't break it out into a new thread. So
Gmail must be using the subject-line then surely?

Should we be posting a bug-report about this mailing list or about GMane?

Tom,

That was it!

Thank you!!

For all those interested, when I changed the Style Setting Box from
Text Body to Default Style, then it changed the spacing to single
spacing.

Thank you again.

Best,

Hi :)
Brilliant! Even easier than i thought! Well found! :) Congrats.

It sounds like it might be good to re-configure the "Text-body" style
someday, maybe - or leave it so you can switch between the 2 styles as
needed. Superb! :)
Congrats and regards from
Tom :)

Re: [libreoffice-users] Libre Writer - Line Spacing - not appearign as single space

2015-10-15 Thread Joel Madero
I *highly* recommend getting used to styles - create your own custom styles
that you can readily use. It is 100x easier than direct formatting which is
how most users use Writer. If you're doing anything more than a one page
document, having useful styles ensure that you'll get the results that you
want.

[libreoffice-users] Re: Libre Writer - Line Spacing - not appearing as single space

2015-10-15 Thread V Stuart Foote
Believe you'll find the issue here:

tdf#94464 --
"Text Body default line spacing too big" as "Text Body" style is using 120%
proportional line spacing with .10"/.25cm spacing below.

The default for the style needs to be reworked.

Meanwhile, the "Text body" style can be modified to change to single space
and eliminate the spacing below paragraph to have a cleaner single space use
of text body. Nuisance is that you have to reset it for each document--or
create a new style to use.

Tom,
That was it!
Thank you!!
For all those interested, when I changed the Style Setting Box from

I'm interested, but puzzled. Surely that could not have been the
solution if the problem was as described?

o Text Body paragraph style has Single spacing by default - though
you (or someone else) could well have changed this to Double: no problem.

o But in any case, the two techniques you described as not working
both apply local formatting, and applying local single spacing to
paragraphs with double spacing in their paragraph style *will*
overrule the style and change the spacing. So the techniques that you
say failed you would have worked (even though not an ideal solution).

I'm delighted that you are happy, of course - but it would be nice to
know what was *really* happening.

My Text Body style as default has spacing below the paragraph. The
