+1
I often have problems downloading *.msi files and relative *msi.torrent
files (not only 5.2.5 version)
I have tried many times both torrent download (mainly using
transmission) and downthemall software (firefox plugin), but I always
have problems; downloads don't complete with torrent and with
downthemall do not start at all; I have to repeat the whole thing many
times before it works.
I only have these problems with files downloaded from the document
foundation website.

Thanks for pointing out.

[libreoffice-users] Formatting business card template

2017-01-27 Thread Rich Shepard

I used the business card template and see that the icons for address,
phone, and e-mail need a space between them and the text. I've not been able
to figure out how to enter this space and would appreciate learning how to
do this. The fields invoved are BC_COMP_STREET, BC_COMP_PHONE, and
BC_COMP_MAIL.

Could be this is a special behavior of Base-forms. There are two forms
beneath each other. One form for "filter" and one for "display". I
change values in "filter". I move to a button in "display". The
content of "filter" will be saved when I push the button in "display"
before the action of the button will happen. So there is needed only
one button, which should refresh the form "display". The query for
this form will be filtered by the entries in the table "filter".

> I also can't understand why there are two columns in the

Most listboxes will show some text-content, but are linked to a table
by an Integer-primarykey. So queries for listboxes look like
SELECT "name", "ID" form "table_names"
"name" will be shown. "ID" will be saved in the column of the form.

You must have a look in the properties > data of the listbox. The
"bounded field" will be '1' by default - and '1' is (a little be
confusing, because it begins with '0') the second field.

If the same content should be shown as it will be saved you could set
this to '0' - so there must be only asked for one field.

You could also set this to '-1'. This will save the numer of the row.
I have never used this, but it works ...

2017-01-27 Thread Drew Jensen
howdy,

Ah, considering that the project is actively working on the Base module at
the moment this might be a great time to open a Request For Enhancement.
In this case a request to add a ReloadWith (for example) function on the
data set (form) which would reload the data using the current parameter
variables entered on the initial load.

Just a thought and it couldn't hurt. I think your use case is common enough
that merits a discussion at least.

Hi Robert,

I've had a look at some of your forms now, especially filter_without_macros and
I'm a bit puzzled. I see that the table in the Display part of the form is
populated by the "filterquery" query, which references "filter". The table
"filter" has one entry - the selection(s) I made in the listbox. But I can't
see how the listbox selections get put into the "filter" table. Can you please
help me there? I also can't understand why there are two columns in the
"listbox_n_simple", but that's of less importance.

[libreoffice-users] Re: Can I reload a form based on a parameter query?

HI Tom,

Thanks for this, but my basic question was whether there's an easier way than
using macros :) I'm not frightened by macro programming (I wrote my first ever
program in about 1961, and was in the profession for far too many years).
Except for the difficulty in working out which method applies to which object,
but that's a documentation issue.

Re: [libreoffice-users] LibreOffice help menu

2017-01-27 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
The user-profile contains all the Extensions/plugins/addons in one folder.
It is usually one of them that causes any weird problems that 'shouldn't'
be happening (but are). However it also contains galleries, libraries and
configurations any of which may have gone wonky to produce a weird and
unusual error.

So renaming the user-profile is like a "magic pill" that cures a wide
variety of completely unrelated errors. If you have the time and patience
to track down the specific problem you may well find it relates to one file
in the user-profile that got hit by cosmic rays or some other unlikely
event. This can then allow you to fix a problem with surgical precision.
However the specific problem is very unlikely to arise again and if you are
unlucky enough to have another problem, even one that is very similar, then
it could easily be one of the other files in the user-profile. So the
"nuke 'em 'till they glow" solution is usually a 'better' approach if you
just want the problem fixed without spending ages over it.

Of course if renaming the user-profile doesn't fix a particular problem
then you can always rename it to overwrite the fresh new auto-generated
one. If it did work then you can start on a process of elimination such as
copying half the user-profile's folders back in until something gets broken
again - or you could just stick with the fresh new profile that does work.

Yes, uninstalling and reinstalling is a very Windowsy answer but it's
beginning to sound as though the repos got updated with a newer version of
LibreOffice and for some weird unknown reason the normal upgrades route
somehow hasn't upgraded all the LibreOffice components but has upgraded
some of them. This is, of course, impossible but has happened on other odd
occasions. Perhaps it was a timing issue, or perhaps the problem will
magically sort itself out in a few days when upgrades finally work.
However you could force the issue by using the Windowsy answer.

Regards from
Tom :)
