You need to use 'Section' to restart numbering for footnote/endnote. Insert - Section... - Footnotes/Endnotes Put each chapters into separate section. 1. Insert - Section... and optionally change settings for Footnotes/Endnotes 2. A section inserted above your cursor. 3. You need move cursor one line up in order to move in newly created section. 4. It would be nice if LibO has a similar function. For an example, if there is an option in 'character style' setting to set languages. Then LibO will know exactly which words are in what language. How do you think? cK Yes there is. Chapter 7 of the Writer Guide contains a section on Paragraph styles. This will tell you how to assign a language for spelling to a selected paragraph. So, you can have one or more paragraphs in Spanish and some other paragraphs in English. By creating a paragraph style for English and another for Spanish and assigning them their respective paragraph styles, you can correctly spell check the entire document. If you want to mix words from different languages in a single paragraph, create the appropriate character styles for the desired language (done the same way as when creating paragraph styles for languages). By doing this, I can correctly spell check the following paragraph for three languages at once: No hablo Español. Aber Ich kann Deutch. Neat little trick, isn't it? Comment: I applied the Spanish character style to the first sentence and German to the second sentence. Since my chosen language is English (USA), the spell checker automatically checked spelling in English for anything that did not have a language character style applied to it. --Dan That's right. The text should be indented and not flow around underneath the heading. All such headings should have the same amount of horizontal space available, and should wrap if they exceed this. It would be possible to do this with one giant table for the whole document, with headings in the left column, text in the right, and top level headings or un-headed text in single-column rows; or with text boxes and certain wrap settings. But I want to know if I can do it purely using styles. Otherwise, should I want to change things in the future, I'll have a lot more editing to do, and using styles seem to be LibreOffice's main strength rather than the horrible typesetting hackery so characteristic of a certain other office suite. Left page frame style was anchored to 'left/top' and 'page text area' and linked with 'Left Page style'. Right page frame style was anchored to 'right/top' and 'page text area' and linked with 'Right Page style'. Insert a frame with correct frame style in every pages. Re: [libreoffice-users] Bug report - pasting from Notepad to Calc
On 01/24/2012 05:22 PM, L S wrote: Hi, I'm not interesting in joining the mailing list or another membership, got plenty already! So I'm just sending you the details and someone else can post it. You can contact me if you want any more details. Operating System: Windows XP SP3 (up to date) Libre version: LibreOffice 3.4.4 OOO340m1 (Build:402) Notepad: Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.111025-1629 : Service Pack 3) Notepad was set to word wrap and not full screen. This meant some lines were wrapping. Actions: Highlight entire contents of Notepad using Ctrl+A. Copy using Ctrl+C. Select top left cell on a Calc worksheet, previously used and all previous contents deleted. Paste, using Ctrl+V and accepting defaults on dialog box that comes up. My data was strangely laid out. Investigation showed that the data had been pasted as though each wrapped line was a new line of data. (Most lines were not wrapped, mainly some around the middle of the file.) Tabs in Notepad had correctly separated data into new columns but wrapped lines had been treated as a new line of data and started in column 1 on the following row to that which they belonged to. I tested again and got the same result. I then turned off word wrap and the data pasted correctly. I may have tried pasting again into the old sheet at this point - if so, results not recalled. I tried pasting to a new, unused worksheet (two or three times) with wrap turned on and each line of data pasted as it should, without wrapping forcing a new line. I tried again to paste into the previously used sheet while wrap was on and the data pasted as it should, instead of wrapped forcing a new line.(!) I have since been unable to replicate the bug. If I come up with any further useful information, I'll send it and reference this email's date and time. Please don't forward anything I send you unless you are SURE that everyone you're forwarding it to, already has my email address. Use copy and paste instead (Ctrl + C and Ctrl + v). THANKS!! I also experienced similar behavior long time ago between Notepad and Eclipse IDE and/or some other IDE. I don't think it's LibreOffice's fault. Try Notepad++ instead of vanilla Notepad. cK -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

As Degustation table only has a single DeguID per WineID I got what I needed, but in the MarketPrice table I am cheating with the avg(), would really like to get latest/highest based on MarketPrices.PurchaseDate. Could this be done by adding an Order_By clause and Limit or ...??? Anyhow this is pretty clause to what I needed and I probably can live with it. Re: [libreoffice-users] Impress: Import text from file dynamically
This will only give you half way of what you want. Goto Insert - Object - OLE Object Select 'Create from file', Choose the file you want to link, Make sure to check 'Link to file' checkbox. Unfortunately, this will not update the contents automatically. You have to goto Edit - Links - Update And you can't even update it manually during the slideshow. You have to end slideshow before you can update the links. Re: [libreoffice-users] Question about Writer - pages and page count.
Do not use left or right page style. They are only good when you print double side. They are used to differentiate odd/even pages. And if you use only 'right page' style, LO will insert a blank page after every left/right pages. And you don't want that. For single side printing, use 'default' page style with 'First Page' style as optional. cK On 01/17/2012 05:55 PM, Sylvia Schmidt wrote: Hey, I'm trying to create a layout for my thesis in Writer. It is true that I actually have more pages than the written ones but it shouldn't show in my page number. I tried correcting the page number - but I can't figure out how. With each new page the number of blank pages increases - so the fifth page should have the page number 3 (3 written pages plus two blank ones) while the ninth page should have the page number 5 (5 written pages plus 4 blanks).
