This is a case for the need for people to do more backups. We must
backup our files to save us any problems of lost files.

When you try any new software, you should have the files backed up so if
that new software messes up badly, you still have a clean/correct
document to work with, with a working software package.

I hope our people can help you find your missing files. We have some
really good people here.

Can you reinstall an 'older' version of LibreOffice alongside the pre-release

Hopefully you haven't saved the document without leaving some back-up or
previous version or emailed version to or from someone or on another

I thought a new revision would be better than the old one. I just tried to
check my Macro updates. ALL of my macros are MISSING!!! I didn't write the
macros or edit them just to have a new version erase them. I know you
cannot restore my macros, but I am sure that other users will not be happy
to find their macros missing.

Let us try to find them.

macros or edit them just to have a new version erase them. I know you

What OS do you use?
In which LO version do you have written the macros?
Where does your "user"-folder of that version reside? Please have a look
into the folder "Basic" there.

Which new LO version do you have used?
Which kind of installation do you have made?

Kind regards
Regina

[libreoffice-users] IMPROVED FUNCTIONALITY: in-document hyperlink navigation limited

2011-02-27 Thread Simon Cropper

Tom,

I have discovered that I am able to do just what I wanted already (in part).

I am posting the details here so that if someone is searching in the
future they will find the answer.

* SPECIFIC INSTRUCTION FOR INDEX/TABLE *

If you insert an Index/Table you will see in the entries tab a composite
line of elements -- E# for entry number, E for entry and # for page
number. Inter-dispersed in these are text entry fields to do things like
insert 'Page ' before the page number so ...1 becomes ...Page 1, etc.

In the list of allowed options there is a 'Hyperlink' button. The use of
this button is problematic and their is no help available if you select
the help button.

To create a hyperlink you need to insert a 'flag' at the start and end
of the area you want to be a hyperlink. You do this by inserting the
cursor in a text entry box at the start of the line of elements then
select the hyperlink button. Either a SL or EL element will appear
(representing start link or end link). Move to the end of the line after
the page number -- place the cursor in the text box and select the
'Hyperlink' button again. You will see in the preview that the line is
now a hyperlink.

Once saved the content menu becomes active and Ctrl-Clicking an entry
takes you to that section. A menu exists in the main menu that allows
you to return to the contents menu.

The default font for these links are blue and underlined. It is just a
matter of changing this if you would prefer the text not be so gaudy.

* WORKAROUND FOR OTHER LISTS *

The above sequence only works for content lists. all other lists (e.g.
tables, maps, etc) don't have the hyperlink option.

A work around is unckeck the 'Protect against manual changes' option on
the first tab and then save the list. You can now edit the index and
insert hyperlinks to the appropriate pages using 'insert
cross-references' or 'insert hyperlink'- NOTE HOWEVER that if the index
is updated the links will be lost.

* SUMMARY *

Ideally it would be good if the functionality available for the table of
contents was available for the other types of indexes.

[libreoffice-users] IMPROVED FUNCTIONALITY: in-document hyperlink navigation limited

2011-02-13 Thread Simon Cropper

Hi,

While in a document if you insert a cross-reference to an object you can
click on the new hyperlink and LibreOffice will move the cursor to the
target object.

Unfortunately there is no way of going back to where you started. So if
you are proof reading a document and follow a link to see if the
cross-reference is inserted in the correct spot, you need to 'page up'
or 'scroll' back to where you were in order to keep reading.

This distracts enormously from the process of proofing a document.

I presume it would be easy to create a bookmark before navigating to an
in-document hyperlink's target object and provide a button or keyboard
shortcut that would allow the reader to move back to where they started.

Ultimately a history of sorts would be good but at the moment a simple
'move back' to hyperlink source would be sufficient.
