Re: [libreoffice-users] LO 4.0 vs word editing
2013/9/14 Rogier F. van Vlissingen vlisc...@gmail.com There is a feature in Word that is not well supported in LO and is breaking my back when people make a comment in Word, the text is highlighted and that highlighting disappears again when you delete the comment. Try to do that in LO, and it's hopeless. The highlighting does not disappear, and worse yet, the final letter of the highlighted section comes out several fontsizes smaller, thus requiring two manual adjustments every time you delete a comment. Try to do that in a doc with hundreds of comments. -- *Rogier Fentener van Vlissingen I don't remember encountering this problem in earlier versions of Writer ; nor after checking, do I no see it in version 4.1.1.2, at least on my main machine running 64-bit Linux Mint 15. 2013/9/15 Rogier F. van Vlissingen vlisc...@gmail.com amazing. Of course I am in a primitive Win7 box... but after using OO since before 1.0 and then LO when it forked, the number of frustrations has now risen to unbearable levels. I'll still prefer LO for my own projects, but no longer can I use it when I'm in a collaboration with heavy editing, which is often the case. My experience is quite the contrary - i e, that LO vastly improved after the fork provoked by Oracle. But YMMD Henri PS I don't happen to have a Win7 machine at home, but was able to check on a 64-bit Win8 box and, once again, did *not* experience the difficulties you described. Removing a comment immediately removes all highlighting and font size is remains that of my choice... Re: [libreoffice-users] LO 4.0 vs word editing
I started out using OOo back before you could read/write in .doc format 0.x.x or 1.x.x. When LO came around, I switched to it. I am currently using both 4.0.5 and 4.1.1 between my desktop and laptops. What do you refer to as a primitive Win7 box? I have a laptop that is from 2007 or 2008 that ran Vista, but now runs Win7 Professional. Also, I have one that I bought this year that runs Win7 Home Premium. Both are dual booting for Ubuntu and Win7. I have had little issues with LO on Win XP [still have a laptop with that], Win Vista [gone], and Win7 systems. Also, there is the collaboration with heavy editing statement. Yes, even if you have Win7 and Word 2010 on both systems, you still could have collaboration issues. I know of people that could not get it all of the bugs worked out to collaborate with each other sharing the files via email. They did not want to use the cloud. I have not read the other posts in this thread, but are you using any collaboration add-on or are you using the internal options for Word 20?? and LO. May be it is a docx or MS doc if the editing is collaborative. Sorry, I can't check this scenario. Re: [libreoffice-users] LO 4.0 vs word editing
Hi : Is it just some rendering issue? If you scroll so that the relevant bit goes off-screen and then scroll it back onto the screen then does it figure it out correctly?
