In OSX 10.8, the system recognizes that an application with the same name is already installed and asks if you want to overwrite or install the other version as a separate app. If you answer the latter, then OSX automatically numbers the newly installed app as LibreOffice2. The second part of the information you pointed to in your link still holds true, at least for the shared user configuration, i.e. any newer LO installation will share the same configuration directory in //Library/Application Support/ (which is hidden by default, thanks Apple). Hi :) It is god to hear you have found a work-around. If you wanted to install a version of Libreoffice or OpenOffice alongside it then please use the "Installing in Parallel" wiki-guide https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel I don't know why it was giving such problems so it's good to hear you have found a way to make it work. Robert To ensure a compete removal of an Application I use "Clean My Mac" http://macpaw.com/cleanmymac or you could try "Amnesia" http://www.koingosw.com/products/amnesia.php Both these search and remove associated files when you do an uninstall. Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: LibreOffice suddenly hanging on my MacBook Pro
Hi :) Thanks Tink. Errr on other platforms the option only appears if you have chosen the right option during install. Otherwise it doesn't appear at all, which is a bit weird. Usually those sorts of things would be greyed-out rather than absent. I like your idea of upgrading or re-installing the 4.0.1 already. That has got to be a good move anyway. It's just bug-fixes and stuff on the 4.0.0 so it's not likely to introduce new features and new problems. It should just fix a few things. Tom The LO Options for a Mac are in LO> Preferences. The Options differ too as there is no option to switch "Quickstarter on or off under the Memory option. It may exist elsewhere, but I have never seen it. BTW. I am running Mac 10.8.2 on an iMac and I have never experienced that problem. This works for LibreOffice but then Safari hangs! Possibly other apps hang as well but this was the first one I encountered. Leaving LibreOffice open but hidden is not a solution. I forgot.
