Re: [libreoffice-users] stopping superscript text in Calc
I would suppose that the logic is that if it recognizes special font control scenarios, a part of the command would automatically revert the control after completion of special font. Quote from Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_stop A full stop (British English, Hiberno-English, Australian English, Indian English, South African English, Sri Lankan English and New Zealand English) or period (American English and Canadian English) is the punctuation mark placed to indicate the end of sentences. In the context of web addresses and computing in general, it is typically called a dot. Re: [libreoffice-users] stopping superscript text in Calc
Hi :) In Writer when i type in a date i carry on with the rest of it and then select the couple of letters i wanted as superscript and then Format - Character - Font Effects - Superscript this ensures that subsequent characters have already been typed in so it's only the selected characters that get affected. Similarly with almost all other formatting. Otherwise i have to 1. turn the formatting on, 2. type in whatever text i wanted 3. turn the formatting off again which interrupts my train of thought twice rather than just once. With bold it's less of an issue because it's just Ctrl b rather than needing to reach for the mouse so it's easier to do on the fly. With Calc i suddenly realised i always write dates as numbers such as 23-10-2013 Other people seem to prefer 23/10/2013 but then find it a problem to interpret incomplete dates scribbled hastily on post-it's and have to quizz the original author as to what the date really was. Anyway i found i didn't know how to apply formatting to just parts within a cell in Calc! I'm sure i will figure it out through rtfm or by just playing around with it. If you want to keep the rd in superscript, but change the following text back to normal, select the text to change and go to: Format Character Font Position Set it to Normal position. To stop it superscripting the rd in the first place: Tools AutoCorrect Options Localised Options Un-tick Format ordinal numbers suffixes (1st - 1^st) Hope that helps. This sounds like a feature request, similiar to copying of the superscript in a Calc column, and entering a space to cancel it. I'll turn it off for now.
