Max-length of Variable account [ACT:] ?
Question about SMS Push (send-sms) CGI Variable account [ACT:] Optional. Account name or number to carry forward for billing purposes. This field is logged as ACT in the log file so it allows you to do some accounting on it if your front end uses the same username for all services but wants to distinguish them in the log. In the case of a HTTP SMSC type the account name is prepended with the service-name (username) and a colon (:) and forwarded to the next instance of Kannel. This allows hierarchical accounting. What is the maximum allowed length of this string ? Thanks, Gottfried huber

SMS-service configuration: concatenation fails
hello to all i use Kannel bearerbox version `cvs-20070424' my SMS-service starts a perl-scripts and answers automated i use the param concatenation=true. This works fine as long as the message is less then 160 characters. greater 160 chars, the handy (Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, ...) display error without text. what is wrong ? can these handies not concateneate long messages ? service: group = sms-service keyword = BEREIT exec = file.pl %S assume-plain-text = true max-messages = 20 concatenation = true best regard gottfried
Kannel-service (param %s: messagetyp not supported)
Hello i need Information / help in case KANNEl-SERVICE. Ih have written a kannel service: if sms receives a perl-script starts to select some DB-Information (Sybase-DB). The result i push to to the requester-gsm via the Kannel-param %s This works on all Siemens-Benq - GSMs. But now i am informed that all Nokia or Motorola or else handies do not work. The message alwas is like this messagetyp not supported Whe i send the same message by Kannel-http-request it works. You've just encountered one of the many complexities of Kannel. The problem you encountered was alluded to in the userguide in Table 6-1. SMSC Group Variables: Variable Value Description smsc-id (m) string An optional name or id for the smsc. Any string is acceptable, but semicolon ';' may cause problems, so avoid it and any other special non-alphabet characters. This 'id' is written into log files and can be used to route SMS messages, and to specify the used SMS-service. Several SMSCs can have the same id. The name is case-insensitive. __NOTE THAT IF SMS CENTER CONNECTION HAS AN ASSIGNED SMSC ID, IT DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN THAT MESSAGES WITH IDENTICAL SMSC ID ARE ROUTED TO IT; INSTEAD CONFIGURATION VARIABLES denied-smsc-id, allowed-smsc-id AND preferred-smsc-id IS USED FOR THAT__. If you want to use Delivery Reports, you must define this. The MO SMS is converted from the SMSC's proprietary format to Kannel's abstract form (the SMS Msg format). Once the SMS is in the SMS Msg format, it is forwarded to the bearerbox's SMS received function (bb_smscconn_receive()) for routing to the SMSbox or out another SMSC connection. Transceiver-mode
Hello to all I try to configure kannel with transceiver-mode only. transceiver-mode bool Attempt to use a TRANSCEIVER mode connection to the SM-SC. It uses the standard transmit 'port', there is no need to set 'receive-port'. This is a SMPP 3.4 only feature and will not work on an earlier SM-SC. But i have still the error: [8364] [6] ERROR: SMPP[ONE2]: SMSC rejected login to transmit, code 0x000f (Invalid System ID). Thanks für helping me Gottfried

smsc-group: GSM Modem + SMPP
dear kannel-user i hope you can help me to solve my problem: i need to configure kannel for use with 1 smpp and 1 gsm-modem connection. normally ALL sms-messages should be sent over SMPP. ALL incoming messages from gsm should be internal transferredSMPP and perhaps answered by smpp. the biggest feature should be: if smpp-connection failes (not online) all messages have to be sent via gsm-modem (=failover) . additional smpp and gsm need different unified-prefix too ! does somebody think, this is do-able ? smsc-group: GSM Modem + SMPP
Hallo ich möchte mit Kannel folg. Szenario abbilden. Danke für die Hilfe liebe Grüße Gottfried kannel.conf (Auszug): # --# SMPP-Connection# --group = smscsmsc-id = SMS-Direct smsc = smpp # --# Modem-Connection MC35# --group = smscsmsc = atsmsc-id = MC35preferred-smsc-id = SMS-Direct # --# SMS-Routing from MC35 to SMPP # --group = smsbox-routesmsbox-id = MC35smsc-ids= SMS-Direct

I never tried to use kannel that way, but at least when I was using laptop dialup with mobile phones in either GSM, HSCD or GPRS I always had to use ATZ in the init string to make it work. AFAIR this problem was mentioned in the mailing list several times without a solution, so that every helpor hint is appreciated. Greetz from Bonn, Lars-Hendrik well, it seems as this did not solve my problem, but it (currently) seems as if the modems are now running. I changed my modems.conf a little bit following this posting:http://www.mail-archive.com/users@kannel.3glab.org/msg01308.htmlsaying:###snip#After trying kannel at 6 different machines, I've found out that kannel isquite messy with initializing a serial port.[modem TC-35 Siemens].Under Solaris this is quite a tricky to achieve, and under linux it is littlebit easier (minicom trick).Another strange thing is that 1.1.6 is not working with "at2" smsc, but withold "at" it is workingIf I use old "at" under Solaris, then it works, but receiving messages is notpossible.I think this is problem with init strings...For TC-35 it needs to be first:AT+CSMS=1 , and then this one will work...AT+CNMI=3,2,0,0,1otherwise I get error with AT+CNMI command, since without CSMS=1 , TC-35 doesnot accept anthying else than AT+CNMI=1,2,0,0,1 (not 100%, this is from head).Anyway, after making kannel "work" after couple of inits and shutdowns, problem with initializing is occuring again after rebooting machine...Does anybody know solution for this?I've tried even setting up a port with "stty", but this is still not 100%reliable.###/snip#This is what my kannel.conf NOW looks alike (running with kannel 1.4.0):###snip#group = smscsmsc = atsmsc-id = GSM1modemtype = siemens_mc35device = /dev/gsm1pin = 9797sms-center = +49176443alt-dcs=1group = modemsid = siemens_mc35name = "Siemens MC35"detect-string = "SIEMENS"detect-string2 = "MC35"init-string = "AT+CNMI=1,2,0,0,1"init-string = "AT+CSMS=1"speed = 57600enable-hwhs = "AT\\Q3"need-sleep = true # uncomment this line if needed###/snip#Due to kannel 1.4.0 this uses "smsc = at" which is the same as "at2" in former versions.Note this: init-string = "AT+CSMS=1" -- I added this and it seems to work now (I hope it will go on like this. Therefore I will try to send a huge number of SMS using http-requests this afternoon and spamming my collegues...). if it fails again, I will answer here again... (hope I don't have to, puh).Greetings,Lars-Hendrik

Fwd: SMSC rejected login to transmit, code 0x0000000d.
do you use SMPP 3.4 ? only ther you can use transceiver-mode . if you have smpp 3.3 please define a receive-port (e.g. the same asport ) . Greetings Gottfried
