Hei

In $USERHOME\.m2 settings.xml file you can specify the location of the
repository

?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8?
settings xmlns=http://maven.apache.org/SETTINGS/1.0.0;
xmlns:xsi=http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance;
xsi:schemaLocation=http://maven.apache.org/SETTINGS/1.0.0
http://maven.apache.org/xsd/settings-1.0.0.xsd;

localRepositorypoint to your new location/localRepository

Currently my Maven settings dir is

C:\Documents and Settings\ben\.m2\
resp.
C:\Documents and Settings\ben\.m2\repository

How can I move this directory to another location e.g.

D:\maven

Which parameters in which file do I have to change (even in Eclipse
maven plugin) to have Maven working with the new config+repository
folder?

RE: Doubt about packaging using profiles

2009-11-13 Thread hermod.opstvedt
Hi

This is easly solved using filters and profiles. Define your environment
specific variables in your filter and subsitute that into your log4j
file. I do this all the time, because the disk drive and path to the
log4j files are different from test to productio.

Environment specific files should be read from the class path. Then keep
them out of your bundle (ear for instance) and add them to the
environment (app server for instance) in such a way that they end up on
the classpath.

First, having different builds for different environments are
generally a bad idea. That's, IMHO, a general Java rule so I won't go
into that any further but I wanted to mention that.

The, I think you should solve your issue by configuring the resources
plugin in to only include the right log4j files. I would set up my pom

so that the prod file is being used. And then create a profile for
development use where the dev log4j file is being used instead.

Regarding deleting the already existing files in the output folder,
one could argue that that should be taken care of by executing mvn
clean.

Here's how you configure the resources plugin to include/exclude:

 http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-resources-plugin/examples/includ
 e-excl
 ude.htmlhttp://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-resources-plugin/exampl
 es/include-excl%0Aude.html

What's going on in your current case is that the resources plugin will

copy all log4j files. The resources plugin is bound to the lifecycle
by default (for a jar project for instance). That's why you see all
log4j (actually all files in the resources folder) end up in the
 output directory.

In my projects, all jars add build time in its name, like
aaa-1.0-snapshot-20070731.jar.
Some project's artifact is eclipse plugin jar and depends other jars.

In eclipse plugin's MANIFEST.MF file, specify depend jars:

Bundle-ClassPath: ./,
 lib/aaa-1.0-snapshot-20070731.jar.,
 ...

Since the jar name is different in each build, this file should alos be
modified in each build.
How to auto modify this file?

Hi

The WAS 5 plugin for Maven2 is not meant for WAS6. The WAS directory structure

stated that. For WAS6 take a look at the Cargo plugin. Cargo should work for
WAS6 because WAS6 is based on JDK 1.4, whereas WAS5 is based on JDK 1.3

As far as I know, there is no maven plugin to generate this specific files.

The best approach I have found so far is to use IRAD as usual -- letting

though (and the maven-war-plugin and maven-ear-plugin), because I
redefine the warSource (from memory) property to Webcontent.

if it was working before, it should work like that.

then it means that you're dependending on a snapshot version of that

it should.

Hi

Nope, it is a dependency from some other plugin that is already downloaded.
What strikes me is that the surefire plugin is no longer in the maven-plugins
SVN either (otherwise I could have build it)

can you try with
mvn -o

if it was working before, it should work like that.

then it means that you're dependending on a snapshot version of that
plugin, which was not available when maven checks for updates...or so
it should.

RE: Maven newbie alert - incorrect archetype version.

2007-03-06 Thread hermod.opstvedt
Hi

If you get the error: Embedded error: The META-INF/maven/archetype.xml
descriptor cannot be found. then the archtype is broke. This is the file that
controls the archetype itself. Try removing the previously downloaded archetype
from your local repo and then do a new run.

Hello again.

Thanks for your reply Wayne.

I have followed the advice of a respondent to an identical message I put
in the ServiceMix user's mailing list, and my actions appear (at least)
to have rectified my earlier problem.

See the Service Mix response within the thread at:
http://www.nabble.com/Maven-newbie-alert---incorrect-archetype-version.-
tf3359474s12049.html.

However, as the response above states, Maven is now giving me the
following errors:

...
[ERROR] ResourceManager : unable to find resource 'VM_global_library.vm'
in any resource loader.
...
[INFO]

[ERROR] BUILD ERROR

[INFO] Error creating from archetype

Embedded error: The META-INF/maven/archetype.xml descriptor cannot be

You advice here would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Looks like the artifacts you need are in the Apache Snapshots
repository on people.apache.org:

http://people.apache.org/maven-snapshot-repository/org/apache/servicemix
/tooling/servicemix-binding-component/

Also note the hello-world-bc webpage says at the top Work In

Hi

The Maven websphere plugin is based on the WAS ant tasks - The advantage is
that you do not need to mess around with this stuff your self since it is
handled for you. It will generate ejb jar files, start/stop the server,
Install/Uninstall/list applications etc.

well, then your best bet is to go with WAS-specific ant task, call them

a friend of mine (Mr Peter Pilgrim) has done some work on that..

In fact, It seems the best way is to use the WAS-specific ant task via

I am trying to write a very simple Ant based script mojo. I need to
define some taskdefs from within the build.xml based on the current
classpath defined in the plugin pom. I have seen reference to using
the maven.plugin.classpath but when I reference that I get an error
that it is not present. I also tried passing the path in as a
parameter to the mojo but that did not work either. The basic idea
is that I have an Ant based mojo and I want to define a taskdef in my
build.xml based on the classpath defined in the pom.xml of the plugin.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Subject: provided dependency packaged into war

Hello,

I am packaging a war archive and list dependency in pom file:
dependency
groupIdjavax.servlet/groupId
artifactIdjsp-api/artifactId
version2.0/version
scopeprovided/scope
/dependency

the problem is that jsp-api-2.0.jar (and also servlet-api-2.4.jar) get
packaged into WEB-INF/lib even though that they are always mentioned as
provided dependencies.

Our project depends on multiple other our projects. One of them is another
war, which gets merged into our war. Other are simple jars. jsp-api is
mentioned as dependency in some of them, but always as provided.

My intention is to package only our jars into WEB-INF/lib. I want to keep the
third party ones in server lib. The primary project is called non_combustion.
It depends on our cms_classes and cms_web projects and some others, such as
dsutil_web. These depend on many other libraries, especially spring and
related.

Rough structure:

non_combustion (war)
  jsp-api (provided)
  dsutil_web (jar) (compile)
jsp-api (provided)
..
  cms_web (war) (compile)
depends on jsp-api (provided)
cms_classes (jar) (compile)
..
  ..

I did proper clean and install of all these project into local repository.
When I do mvn package -X on non_combustion I get a war file with jsp-api
in WEB-INF/lib. However other libraries (such as spring) are not packaged
(just as I wanted).

If I search the debug output for the package command for jsp-api I get the
parts below. From them it is clear that jsp-api is everywhere mentioned as
provided, but in the final step it is included in the WEB-INF/lib.

Could anyone help? Is this a bug? If some additional info is required I can
send it (the log below is 180KB long). I am just starting with maven so I ask
here first before submitting a bug report or other.

I am using maven 2.0.4 installed recently.

Thanks for any answers,
Ivan

Hi

When you checkin you need to supply a message to be associated with it. Add a
configuration to the plugin and supply the message either there or from the
command line.

See: http://maven.apache.org/scm/plugins/checkin-mojo.html

I am setting up a multi-module project in Maven and want to get the
web-site functionality working. I seem to have the basics, but my top
level page has hyperlinks to the 'child' modules, but they're all
pointing at http://maven.apache.org/index.html.

When I type mvn site, I do get an error:

[WARNING] No URL defined for the project - decoration links will not be
resolved

Which sounds like it could be relevant?

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks,

pls search archive if i remember correctly, Mr Peter Pilgrim has done

afaik, you'd need to use some ant-based tasks from websphere.. so ultimately
use maven antrun plugin to invoke WAS specific tasks... i m not aware of any

continuum use the url you provide in Add Project screen and it add the module
path.
So with parent url
http://svn.sandsli.dnb.no/svn/felles/IT-01/IT01-main/trunk/pom.xml and module
../it01 continuum think that the module url is
http://svn.sandsli.dnb.no/svn/felles/IT-01/IT01-main/trunk/../it01/pom.xml

Continuum can't know your module path isn't the good path in your scm and can't
know it isn't ../it01 but ../../it01/trunk

With your directory structure, the only solution is to use the file protocol
with a local checkout of your project.

With the scm url, it's a similar problem, so you need to specify the scm url in
each your module if maven doesn't resolve correctly it.

Hi,

I'm fairly new to maven and I have the task of creating an automated
build for one of our hibernate projects. I have written a pom that
compiles all my source and jar's it up. However when it compiles it does
not copy across the .xml files of my hibernate entities or any of the
.properties files. I have used the resources tag to include the
hibernate.cfg.xml that sits in the base of the source directory, but the
rest of the entity xml files live in a package structure. Any ideas? I
have tried the following:

  plugin
groupIdorg.apache.maven.plugins/groupId
artifactIdmaven-compiler-plugin/artifactId
configuration
  includes
include**/*.xml/include
include**/*.properties/include
  /includes
/configuration
  /plugin

When I have this includes tag it doesn't include the xml and props
files and also does not compile any of my source code. Is this a bug? Or
am I mis-using this tag?

Cheers!

Continuum and multimodule setup

Hi

I have a Maven multimodule project that has a flat Eclipse structure. It seems
that Continuum has problems with this (not finding the parent). Does Continuum
support this type of project?

If you get the source from subversion, and then run mvn site on it, you will
get the documentation for it. This includes examples of how to use it.

Dear Hermod,
I have found your address in
http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/maven-plugins/maven-was5-plugin/2.0.2/maven-was5-plugin-2.0.2.pom

I am considering using the plugin you developed in order to manage a
set of complex WS5 applications with Maven2.
In particular, I am interested in the creation of a WS5 EAR, with
generation of stubs etc. for EJB classes.

Do you know of any Maven2 documentation that might help me getting started?
Is there some Maven1 documentation that you think might help?

I have a good knowledge of Maven2, but I have no particular experience
with WebSphere.

Thank you in advance.

   Best regards
   Marco Ponzi

Hi

I have looked into this, and it seems that somebody has deleted (or it was
never there) the org.apache.maven.shared.jar.Jar.java class from subversion,
meaning that the maven-shared.jar file does not have this class. Hence the
error.

Unfortunately when I start mvn eclipse:eclipse WTP doesnt retreive tthe

How may I configure maven or wtp to configure this path ?
Is the location of my WEB-INF directory on the right path ?

2 / The configuration of project facets
how may configure the eclipse plugin in order to specify the versions of
projects facets of WTP (Servlet API version number, JAVA version ,...) ?

3/ The context root

I saw a bug entry to this subject. But is there a way to configure the
context root of a dynamic web project ?

Thanks for your help

Regards,
Alexandre

RE: Add pom tags into Eclipse?

Hi

Yes, Eclipse does that automatically in order to validate the xml file. It will
cache it under the .metadata directory somewhere (Why would you even care :))

What I mean by my user, is that what I upload (deploy task) ends up in a

Do we need to create a common user that has as it's home directory the Maven

My repository url in the distributionManagement section is :

Our repo is a symlink as well so AFAIK that is not an issue.

I still cant find any real clues about this. I've found some other instances
of this IAE and the error message on standard public dependencies that have
been treated as bugs and fixed.

I'm still suspicious that the dependency in question is in the maven 1
repository, and hence there isn't a v4 pom file (the pom file is v3).

However I don't understand why the site target should not support maven 1
repo's when it is supported in the rest of maven.

Confused as ever,

Ian

I'm trying to generate site documentation. We have lots of project, most of
them still use maven 1. This particular project is built with maven 2.

The error below indicates that a project isn't in the repository. I don't
really know what that means. It is in the repository (the compile and test
goals would fail otherwise). I've browsed to the appropriate repository
directory:
C:\Dev\.m2\repository\drkw-cpds-proxy-common\proxy-common\4.01

proxy-common-4.01.jar.md5
proxy-common-4.01.pom
proxy-common-4.01.pom.md5

Help appreciated.

Hi

You might try setting the enviroment variable MAVEN_OPTS=-Xmx1024M for instance
(depending on how much memory you have)

Hermond -

I saw a post on the maven users mailing list about a WebSphere 5 plugin that
you were considering contributing to the community. I searched around some on
the codehaus site but did not see any evidence that it had been posted there.

Can you tell me what the status is on your plugin? If you need any help to get
it finished and out the door I would be glad to help.

Thanks!

Maven Archetypes

Hi

I am working on an archetype that is going to set up a special development
environment, and I have the following question: Is it possible to specify an
execution entry for archetypes. What I mean is that I want an Ant script or
maybe a Mojo to execute during the archetype execution lifecycle. The reason
beeing that I amongst other stuff want to get the latest version of a project
from Subversion as an example.

For the site report generation I am using the jira integration. I can see that

Hi

I am also struggling with the scp stuff. I am uploading a Windows box, which is
running OPENSSH. If a do a commandline scp the file is deployes as i should,
but when I run mvn deploy it first creates a 03 directory in the home
directory, and creates the complete directory path to the repository under that
directory.

Why on earth is it creating the 03 directory and not just changing to the
correct directory?

Hello Raymond,

Inline answer

2006/4/6, Raymond Domingo [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

 Hello Mang Jun Lau,

Thank you for responsing, but it still isn't working :(

Currently I have this in my pom.xml:
plugin
artifactIdmaven-war-plugin/artifactId
configuration
warSourceDirectoryweb/warSourceDirectory
   warNamespg/warName
webXmlweb/WEB-INF/web.xml/webXml
/configuration
/plugin

 I also tried:
plugin
artifactIdmaven-war-plugin/artifactId
configuration
webXmlweb/WEB-INF/web.xml/webXml
/configuration
/plugin

I even upgraded from maven 2.0.2 to 2.0.3

But I still get this error:

Embedded error: webxml attribute is required (or pre-existing
 WEB-INF/web.xml
 if executing in update mode)

 NOTE
Some time ago we used this configuration to create a valid war file using:
 mvn package

But we need to move the stuff in WEB-INF/classes to WEB-INF/lib/spg.jar

Why don't you create an spg project with the jar packaging on which
your war project depends ?

If you want some sample, checkout the axis-archetype code at mojo.
http://mojo.codehaus.org/ (it is in the sandbox)

Hope this helps.

Raphaël

That is why we are looking in to assembly's.

Can you think of anything else that might solve this problem ?

Without a proxy, maven2 downloads this file from every repo and add

How is this expected to work ?

What is the syntax for accessing the dependency elements in Maven 2. I.e to

[m2] Tricky question about mojo plugins

2006-03-14 Thread hermod.opstvedt
Hi

I am working on a plugin that uses ant tasks. One of the ant tasks is running a
java ant task, calling a javaclass that is packaged with the plugin. However I
get a NoClassDefFoundError when I try to run it with the ant java task. So what
I am trying to do is:

target name=Runjava
echoNow running/echo
java jvm=${env.JAVA_HOME}/bin/java.exe
classname=my.company.JavaProgram
.
/java
/target

and this is defined in the mojo.xml file, and the class is part of the plugin
jar file.

Is there any special trick in doing this?

Hi,

I'm trying to store some maven vars into system properties so I can
access them from unit test code:

 plugin
groupIdorg.apache.maven.plugins/groupId
artifactIdmaven-surefire-plugin/artifactId
configuration
  systemProperties
property
  namecore-static/name
  value${project.build.outputDirectory}//value
/property
property
  namecore-static-tests/name
  value${project.build.testOutputDirectory}//value
/property
  /systemProperties
/configuration
  /plugin
/plugins

However the value of
   System.getProperty(core-static)
is literally ${project.build.outputDirectory}, not the expanded value.

Does anyone know how I can pass the value of this expression?

Thanks,

Simon

Bill,

My mojo is currently configured to use the element value
${project.testClasspathElements} as the mojo is with the test phase as in:
  parameter
  nameclasspath/name
  requiredtrue/required
  readonlytrue/readonly
  expression${project.testClasspathElements}/expression
  descriptionclasspath used by junit/description
  typejava.util.List/type
/parameter

Run mvn -DantMessageLevel=debug to find out the listtopath output (look for
lines with the text add path element).

Martin

Martin,

Can you tell me what I will specify if I hope to get the path exactly as
maven.dependency.classpath?
I tried using couple of variables in MavenProject class, but unfortunately
no working.

Thanks.

Bill,

The ${project.compileClasspathElements} value was a test setting.
You can specify any value you like.

Martin,

Thanks for the help.

I tested your anttask, I found when I set the expression
${project.compileClasspathElements}, the returned path just contains
${basedir}\target\classes, but without including all dependencies. I checked
antrun plugin, it is using the method getCompileClasspathElements() to get
path, which includes all dependencies classpath. Is there anything wrong or
missing with my setting?

my Mojo is:
mojo
goalget-classpath/goal
callget-classpath/call
descriptionget classpath/description
parameter
nameclasspath/name
requiredtrue/required
readonlytrue/readonly
expression${project.compileClasspathElements}/expression
descriptionclasspath/description
/parameter
/mojo

my Ant script is:

target name=get-classpath
echoTry to get the classpath/echo
taskdef resource=comtasks.properties/
listtopath sourceref=classpath
targetref=compile.classpath/
pathconvert property=echo.compile.classpath
  refid=compile.classpath/
echo message=classpath=${echo.compile.classpath}/
/target

Thanks.

Bill

Bill,

I've sent the anttask code to your mail adress .

Your mojo configuration looks ok (by eyeball inspection).

The default expression of each parameter is ${name}.
defaultValue will be used when expression evaluates to null.
So as long as you don't configure ${name} on the mvn command line or in
the plugin configuration, defaultValue is used.
The parameter is marked readonly and required so I prefer to use
expression to set is value.
I don't want users to override this value to make the build reproduceable.

Martin,

Thanks a lot.

It will very appreciated if you can send your anttask me.

btw, you said, I need to define a path as a readonly parameter
of type java.util.List and set expression to ${maven.project.classpath},
is it expression tag, or defaultValue tag.
I guess the mojo should me like this,
   mojo
   goalget-classpath/goal
   callget-classpath/call
   descriptionget classpath/description
   parameters
   parameter

Hi

We are currently working on an ant plugin using these, and will submit them to
the community when we feel they are fit for it.

Websphere 5+ versions come with some Ant support to run what's called
headless ant, which enables you to compile, deploy, etc. your
websphere projects in the workspace with an ant task.

WebSphere comes with it's own shell/batch script to set up Ant's

  some will not work.

Whats the consensus on Maven with WAS? Are people generally

[m2] Logging level

2006-02-22 Thread hermod.opstvedt
Hi

I have searched around, and I can't find any place where I can specify the
logging level of Maven 2 - That is the output from maven2. Currently it is
logging from INFO, but I want to turn it down to ERROR.

Maven-proxy enhancement

2006-02-20 Thread hermod.opstvedt
Hi

I don't know if this is the right place to report this, but here goes:

Here is an enhancement for maven-provy-0.2 : When looking for the
maven-proxy.properties, it only looks in the path meaning you need hardcoded
paths in your web.xml file. Here is an enhancement, where it will look in the
classpath if it can't find it in the path. This means you do not have wo worry
about paths at all in web.xml.

  try {
   rcc = (new PropertyLoader()).load(new FileInputStream(file));
   event.getServletContext().setAttribute(config, rcc);
  } catch (FileNotFoundException ex) {
-   System.err.println(No such file:  + file.getAbsolutePath();
+   System.err.println(No such file:  + file.getAbsolutePath() + . Trying to
load from classpath);
+   InputStream in = this.getClass().getClassLoader()
+ .getResourceAsStream(filename);
+   try {
+rcc = (new PropertyLoader()).load(in);
+event.getServletContext().setAttribute(config, rcc);
+   } catch (Exception e) {
+throw new RuntimeException(e);
+   }
  } catch (Exception ex) {
   throw new RuntimeException(ex);
  }
