Re: Maven: The Definitive Guide in French

2009-05-27 Thread coutant

Yes, a relevant example is the translation in French of the OpenOffice.org
Migration Guide.
Ebook available here :
http://www.inlibroveritas.net/catalogue/fiche-livre/changer_pour_openofficeorg.html
http://www.inlibroveritas.net/catalogue/fiche-livre/changer_pour_openofficeorg.html
.
In addition to the free ebook, the real paper book can be ordered (here for
15 euros). I tested the service : it was shipped within 3 days.

I'm interested in helping with the translation of Definitive Guide.
Specially chapter 20 : Developing with Flexmojos. I've been using
Flexmojos since it's inception.

Re: Maven: The Definitive Guide in French

2009-05-20 Thread Jason van Zyl
What we're going to do is find a French publisher who is interested in
printing the book. We want to have the same sort of deal we have with
O'Reilly where we forfeit the royalties to get access to experienced
editors. So I'll probably ask around to see if there are any
interested publishers. Sonatype doesn't care about making money off
the books we just want the book to be edited well. So the publisher
can take all the proceeds from the printed book which I think works
out for everyone. Editing and post production costs are very
substantial for a book.

It's great there are going to be volunteers to translate but someone
needs to be responsible for the overall translation. I'll set up the
standard mailing lists like we've done for the Chinese and German
translations. Tim keeps an eye on these and keeps folks informed about
new chapters that are in the works. If you need anything you just have
to ask him in English :-)

If you need some support :)

2009/4/6 Emmanuel Hugonnet ehsavoi...@gmail.com:
 Thanks :o)
I was looking for such a repository to get the sources of the book ;o)
I am not an Eclipse fan (who says Netbeans ;o) ) but I would love to work on
 Nexus' book translation.

I've asked Tim to respond to you, but that would be great if you translated
the guide. We can set you up with all the tools that we use. We could
probably also set up a repository so that anyone who wanted to contribute
the translation could help. There are also Nexus and m2eclipse books to
 translate ;-)

  Hi,
I was wondering if there is a French translation or some work in progress,

Hi Jason,

I recently sent an email about this at b...@sonatype.com (two weeks ago or
so).
I was asking if there was currently any work about this french translation
for the definitive guide. If so, I think I'd like to contribute. If not,
then I guess we could at least try to start it up. Just show the direction
:-).

Cheers.

Sure, Tim is pretty busy this week but we'll put the content somewhere
so that folks can translate the parts of the books they want to.

We'll see if we can get something setup this week.

You are never dedicated to something you have complete confidence in.
No one is fanatically shouting that the sun is going to rise tomorrow.

goals are in doubt.
