Re: Starting netbeans 8.0.2 launches KDE Wallet

2018-03-08 Thread John Muczynski
Hi Olumide,

Sounds like something is cross-configured.
If it were me, I'd do steps like this:

   1. install NetBeans 8.2 and see if it acts the same way.
   2. If it does then look at the path. See what you can remove which will
   make the pain go away. That'll lead down a rabbit trail.
   3. If it doesn't then uninstall and reinstall 8.02 and that should fix
   it.
   4. If it doesn't fix it, then maybe just use 8.2

Kind Regards,
Johnny

Hi Owen,

Maybe you've already looked in this direction; but I'll mention it anyway
in case you haven't.

You might be interested to look at these two:

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/532606141

Good keywords seem to be
"100% remote"
"100% telecommute"

Now, on the LinkedIn site, you can search the location called Worldwide.
The Indeed.com site has a location called Remote, but they appear to only
have data for the USA.

Hope this helps !

Re: incubating-netbeans-java-9.0-beta-bin.zip

2018-03-08 Thread Antonio

Hi John,

Some comments, then flying to the moon and participating in GSoC.

== 9.0 RC3

For NetBeans 9.0 RC3 the keys were at
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/incubator/netbeans/KEYS
as per
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/incubator-netbeans-dev/201802.mbox/browser

== 9.0 Beta

Then we voted to make 9.0 RC3 become 9.0 Beta as per
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/incubator-netbeans-dev/201802.mbox/browser
and the keys link didn't change either:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/incubator/netbeans/KEYS

== Web link

So as far as I can tell the link is correct and matches the link at
http://netbeans.apache.org/download/nb90/nb90-beta.html

== Flying to the moon

Anyway I do think that getting a release ready is more complicated than
launching a rocket to the moon, making it land there and then bringing
it back. The instructions at:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/Apache+NetBeans+Release+README

Are simply terrifying O_o. Whoever is able to do follow those by hand
without making any errors is, IMHO, a real hero.

== GSoC

Maybe we want to build an Ant script/NetBeans Project to automate the
process somehow. AFAIK many other Apache projects automate this somehow,
ranging from Maven to shell scripts.

This would make a great Google Summer of Code project, wouldn't it?

Cheers,
Antonio

@Antonio, do you know if the link on the website for NetBeans 9.0 Beta

catch this early in the NetCat phase.

SVN will live on forever, as will CVS and Clearcase. There will always

let's judge by real usage numbers.

How much development effort is involved in keeping SVN support (is it
already working? Is keeping support "free"?) vs what percentage of our
users actively use it. Is it 1%? 10%? 50%?

I have an Ant based project that was migrated from 8.2 (i.e. I simply opened

When I try to use "Debug Focused Test Method" I get an error:

When I create the project from scratch within NetBeans 9.0 this works without

Trimming legacy helps reduce edge cases and helps deliver value going forward

SVN can't be considered the same as CVS.

Half of the projects I'm working on still use SVN.
It would be a major PITA if NetBeans would not support that any more.

SVN is ideal for projects that have limited scope where GIT and
Mercurial are overkill.
If it becomes moribund and is no longer supported by its team, I would
expect it to wither away of its own accord.

Re: Do you use NetBeans with SVN or CVS?

2018-03-08 Thread Eduard

I'm using SVN.

I'd be against removing SVN support from NB, doing would greatly reduce
the usefulnes of NB for me.

You can remove cvs, just checked, it was removed in 7.1 RC1. I
vote we remove svn also.

None of the NetCAT 9.0 Version Control tribe members have access
to CVS or SVN repositories to test against, that's why we're
looking for volunteers.

2018-03-08 Thread Wade Chandler
This is a discussion for the dev channel whether to remove something or
not. The data should tell us if we should remove something or not; first
step. Too, it is another Apache top level project.

Thanks

It shouldn’t be, and we should discourage its continued use. Unsupported
plugins available to provide capability is how it should be handled.

I treat svn/cvs like IE8, let’s discourage its use by not supporting. If your
starting a new project with svn or cvs you should question why.

Trimming legacy helps reduce edge cases and helps deliver value going forward
without the need to worry about edge cases.
