Probleme mit Programmen

2014-08-25 Thread Alfred Zander
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

seit einiger Zeit versuche ich auf Open Office “umzusteigen”.

1. Die Textdokumente können von Partner und auch von mir selbst nicht geöffnet
werden (ich habe Ms Office 2003).

2. Bei der Tabellen Dokument Erstellung (hier Summenbildung)
Wenn ich z.B. A17 bis A24 (=Summe A17:A24) die Summe bilden möchte greift
er den Wert immer erst ab A18 ab.
So ist es bei jeder Summenbildung.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen
Alfred Zander

RE: Options for Webinars

Hello:

I am writing to inquire about options that OpenOffice may provide for
webinar software.
Does your software offer any tools for webinars?

Thank you so much for your help.

Kind regards,

go to 'tools - autocorrect options - options' and uncheck 'apply numbering'.

you may wish to uncheck something else there. i, personally, prefer disabling
everything exept using replacement table while typing.

No, unfortunately it is not--unless you contribute $100/year for tech support.
Neo has only one full-time engineer to maintain the program: Patrick Luby. And
while he does give good value for the money, you cannot post questions to the
support forum unless you maintain that contributor status. There are only two
or three part-time coders who contribute.

(N.B.: I once had a problem with NeoOffice screwing up my inserted pictures,
then crashing. I posted the problem and an example file on the support forum,
and Patrick issued a patch within 90 minutes. He seldom takes more than a day
or two to solve problems, although the knotty ones do take longer. His service
is unsurpassed.)

I use NeoOffice on Mavericks (latest version). To unmerge cells, select the
whole data set (not Select All...). From the main menu at the top of the
screen, choose Format, then Merge Cells, then uncheck either Merge Cells or
Merge and Center cells, whichever is checked.

Now you can sort. Then, immediately save the file under a different name. Look
carefully at your original data and the data that resulted from the sort. Do
the data in the rows make sense? Is anything missing? Are they in proper sort
order in all columns? Remember, to sort you must select the entire data set. If
you select only a column, then that column is all that will be sorted; the rest
of the data will stay as it was.

You can get the latest NeoOffice from the App Store for free. It is one of the
few programs in the App Store which notifies you of available patches or
updates; it does not update automatically, but allows you to selectively eschew
updates until you've finished your current project (just in case...). Tech
support must be paid for. Only you can decide whether it's worth it.

John, sorry for your difficulties getting information.

First let me recommend you to use the NeoOffice Forums for support. It
doesn't seem you've tried there (I searched your name and email on the
NeoOffice forums and nothing was found). To try the NeoOffice Forums go to
the link below and post your question.
http://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=search

As to the problem you're having 'ranges containing merged cells can only be
sorted without formats'...

When using a spreadsheet the information that's being operated on, in your
case sorted, is considered to be a "range".

So "ranges containing merged cells..." is the work you're trying to sort.

Spreadsheets are grids of rows and columns. Each intersection of a row and
column is a "cell".

Adjacent cells can be joined together or "merged" creating one larger cell
that occupies more than one column or more than one row.

Sort rearranges the rows based on values in the columns.

Sort doesn't know what to do if all the cells in the range are not the
same, e.g. a 10 x 20, 30 x 15, etc grid.

Your error message is saying that at some point some of your cells have
been joined together. If you created the data then it is something you did.
If you got the data from elsewhere and pasted it into your spreadsheet then
it could have come that way from the source.

To do your sort the cells must be "unmerged". The method to do that will be
specific to NeoOffice. So the NeoOffice support forum is your next step.

John is not subscribed to the list. The attachment he refers to is a
scanned PDF image document. The following is a plain text conversion of
that document:

I guess there are still some computer dinosaurs around, at 65 with
cognitive & memory issues, I'm one of them.

Hence this what to most may be a simple enquiry email, to me is
desperation to find a non tech answer to my questions on items that are
annoying whilst using computer applications, in this case what short be
a simple action of sorting columns of data in Neooffice.

But when I try that, a message on screen (see attachment) comes up
saying 'ranges containing merged cells can only be sorted without
formats' I may as be an alien visitor, as no understanding what that
means or how to correct it!

The obvious next step was to see if my version was up to date, but not
been able to find that out!

To many people finding the name & version of a programme they have, in
my case, the version I have, for Neooffice (which I also understand is
or part of Openoffce Apache) for my Max OSX 10 6 8 is difficult.

In addition I' no good, get easily confused at all the tech jargin in
forums, in this case, when I googled saw for Neooffice, or is it Openoffice:

http://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4975

All I want is a simple answer to I can use the programme a lot easier.

Regards

John Allen
